There is a small drawer under that is suitable for writing material or vanity objects. Along with this Desk comes a Teak wood chair made by John Stuart INC in the Mid Century. Both items match each other even though they were not made as a set. New fabric has been added to the chair seat. The colors of the fabric are black and white. A special blend of oils were used to permanently restore the finish back to its original luster. The set has not been refinished. There is slight normal antique wear to the desk top but the restoration has brought the finish together making it an even shine. When this is done to new furniture it's called Antiquing and its a very popular style. The Chair is sturdy and in fantastic condition. Again. There is very slight Antique wear but we have restored this item to its original luster and it looks fantastic! This would serve well as a writing desk or a vanity. Very good overall condition, This gorgeous antique burl walnut secretaire was crafted in France around the year 1900. Today. This piece remains very beautiful, with a rich walnut complexion and a highly pronounced grain. The face is flanked by a set of carved columns that run the entire height of this piece, which ends with elegant bun feet. A total of 11 drawers and 1 interior cabinet provide a large amount of storage space, all under lock and key. The locks, however, are quite worn and operate with difficulty. The moulding has also sustained some wear, including a minor wood separation in the front and a filled-in missing piece in the back. Overall condition therefore remains very good. The desk provides a very beautiful workspace. With a variety of drawers. This secretaire contains plenty of storage space. The sides look great. The finish on the very top has worn a bit. Condition: Unspecified Location: Moorpark, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

There ... moreis no damage to either piece, just some faint scribbles from kids inside the desk. There is a metal foot inside the top of the desk which allows it to be a flat surface if one wishes it to be. On top of the desk is a divot for writing utensils, and inside is another shelf for writing utensils as well as a small hole I believe could be for a small inkwell. The desk is 29 inches tall at the back, and the chair seat is 15 inches tall and 28 inches tall total.
