This roll-cylinder secretary features a wonderful ... moreheavy carved crest, and dates from the 1880's. It comes with three original shelves that are adjustable behind the wavy glass doors. It has burl walnut panels coming down both sides, heavy crown molded top and a crest with big ball finials on each end. It has a commode base with three drawers and a door. The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

Up for bid is an antique wood and brass box. I'm not an expert but from what I could gather it appears to date from the 17th or 18th Century. It may have been used as a ship captain's chest or strong box or a writing/Bible box. It has a number of internal compartments including one that locked. There is also one that looks like it would have held pen quills. The wood is quite dark and very hard and dense and the brass is hand wrought. It measures about 16 1/2" long x 10 1/2" deep x 4 1/4" tall and is very heavy. I have included a lot of pictures but please feel free to ask for more and ask any questions. Beneath the sewing table drawer there is a pull out sewing box drawer constructed with boxwood and is in original condition. The front and the back of the box are also inlaid with floral satinwood. This is a really handsome civil war era sloped field desk. It was given as a gift to a doctor in the near past and the brass plate is on the top. This could easily be replaced Measures 20" across. It is 7" high and 10 3/4" wide. This was well used and there are signs of this. But the desk looks great as it stands today over 150 years later. On the front there is a small piece of veneer missing on the right front edge. First picture shows this There is a surface crack on the right end over the brass handle. See in the last picture. This is an Antique ca.1885 walnut writing lap desk box. Sometimes called a slope. It is larger than most, measuring 14"x 9.5"x 4.25"high, opening to 19" long and weighing 9 lbs. The brass hardwear is original to this box. The key has been lost. It has brass inlay that is complete. It has a leather writing surface skiver. This rare Victorian walnut cylinder desk c1885 belonged to Connecticut Governor Henry Roberts B 1853 D 1929. Roberts became alderman of Hartford. Connecticut in 1897. He became a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1899. He held that position till 1901. He also was a member of the Connecticut State Senate from 1901 to 1902. He became lieutenant governor of Connecticut in 1903. He held that position till 1905. He became the 44th Governor of Connecticut on January 4, 1905. Incredible find.beautiful old Plantation Desk top. In lovely condition. Not abused, from a non-smoking home. Usually the only the bottom part of the plantation desks survive. But this complete top is in lovely, age-appropriate condition. I believe the wood is walnut with pine as a secondary wood. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. An age-appropriate pull would be wood. So it should be easy to replace. The slips all finished in Coromandel too as are all the compartment lids. The box retains it's two original period inkwells marked"Improved London" on the top of the screw tops. The walnut has a magnificent polished sheen to it. Which is in excellent condition. It is surprisingly heavy for its size and weighs in at about 60lbs. It is finished on all four sides and doesn't have a back per se, so you could put this against a wall or in an open room/against a mirror and still have it look amazing. The only condition issues I have noticed are that the pull out table supports are missing their pieces of veneer. And this can be seen in the pictures. I have the veneer from ... morethe right side because it just fell off but the left side veneer is missing. Also. The upper center box is missing its knob. The veneer and knob are cheap fixes. The rest of the desk is in great shape. It was dusty but a simple wipe down(without oil or any abrasive cleaners) showed its beautiful and deep shine. This was sourced from an estate auction from a very wealthy European homeowner's personal items. It has brass accents throughout and a brass galley around the top. Brass tacks and nails abound. Get a knob and fix the small veneer issues visible in the picture and it is good as new. Has a wood inlay on the table top, which gives a very inviting two tone patterned appearance. It measures 31 1/4" tall by 43" wide by 28" deep- it has five drawers with what appears to be its original turned wood handles- it has hand dovetailed drawers and is square nailed- the finish is either original or an old refinish- the leather top I believe is an old replacement- this is a chunky solid very well made piece of furniture- it has some minor use wear on the finish. This is high society 1880's and as you can see this even looks fashionable in the 21st Century.because nobody makes highly carved things like they did in the Victorian era. This desk has one drawer and one fake front on each side of the desk making it a Partner's Desk. This desk is in very nice condition with a chip to the original finial's bottom. Which is original to the desk. This is is only noticable from one side, but I have an equally nice finial of the same size that can be purchased and installed. Antique Traveler's Folding Walnut Writing Desk/ Box/ Secretary* All Original This is a late 19th century portable. Or traveling, writing desk. It is 13 3/4" wide, 8 3/4" deep when closed, and 4" high closed. It is made of nicely figured walnut with brass reinforcements. Everything is completely original. The exterior finish has very fine crazing which is not obvious- you must view it at an acute angle in the light- and VERY few of the minor marks these things usually pick up over a century. There is no real damage or dings. I do not have the key. The hinges are completely solid. The interior wood finish is in nearly the same condition but has about a half dozen wear spots. The velvet pad is original. It is split across the boxe's hinge but I believe it may have been made that way- there in no fraying- and the tab to ... morelift the bottom section is missing. The only real problem is that the velvet, which acts as the hinge for the two compartment lids, is loose from the frame of the box's lid as seen in the fourth pic; this is easily repaired. The compartments are clean and include the original dust. There are two ink bottles- one with its original pewter collar and lid and the other is missing the pewter pieces. The lid for the pen/pencil compartment has ink spilled on it(seen in the pics) but this should clean off if you know how to do that. It is made out of walnut, and has a dark stain and a satin finish coat, either varnish or polyurethane, and hand painted gold still life design. It has turned legs. Made from a lovely dark walnut wood and covered with a red leather writing surface. This desk is quite the find! Two easily opening drawers provide some storage in this desk. They are constructed with hand cut dovetails which are a sign of authenticity and quality. Each drawer ... morefeatures a unique brass handle. Locks are present but there is no key. Four turned legs are connected via a lovely turned stretcher which adds beauty and stability to this antique writing desk. Four brass casters at the bottom provide the ability to roll the desk short distances. One of the more unusual and attractive feature of the desk are the quarter round accents on the sides of the desk. Just under the top. Fluted lines can be found on these accents, the drawers, and all over the legs and stretcher. This fluted line style was one of may used in the Victorian period. This desk was originally made in England around 1890 and is rated in good condition. It is sturdy and stable. There are numerous dings and dents throughout the top and drawer fronts of varying sizes. Antique Primitive AMERICAN Re purposed WALNUT WOOD PEGGED WRITING Desk
This is a very early re purposed desk. It is made of walnut. The top of the desk was originally a very old cabinet door as it has hinge markings on the underside. It is well made with wooden pegs. I bought it from a family who told me that their great grandfather was always re purposing furniture in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This desk is from that period. Measurements are: 40.75" long on top 17.25" deep on top 28.25" tall from floor to top Wonderful old antique desk.

Beautiful old lap desk in burl walnut veneer. With original writing pads. Brass plate with brass corner straps, lock, and hinges. Only 11 3/4 wide, 8 3/4 inches deep, and only 5 inches high. Condition: The rear lap pad is detached. The lock mechanism is gone. The veneer. Though in excellent condition, is broken in the back, below the corner strap on the right side, see the picture.
