This unique piece stands 68 inches tall at the center and is 30 inches wide and 18 inches ... morein depth. This is a two-piece secretary which makes moving it a whole lot easier. What caught my eye on this piece was it was a davenport desk. But instead of the typical slant front, this one has a secretary section on top. This is not a married piece, these two started life together, guaranteed. The top has nice intricate Eastlake type of carvings and half pinwheels surround the gallery. The desk top or writing surface drop downs to reveal a nice writing desk. Complete with great little cubbyholes and two drawers. There are no drawers missing, and all the hardware on this piece is original. We have the original key and it is included. The finish is original and has a rich. Warm patina. As with most old furniture, one can see areas where the finish has worn a little from use, which suits me just fine. I like to know that an old piece was used, not just displayed. I am sure if one were to use some stain in places, it would darken these wear spots right up, and then a nice coat of paste wax to continue to preserve this piece. This is local pick-up only. We will be glad to work with the winning bidder and local storage is not a problem. We are willing to deliver within a reasonable commute from the Queen City and we are always traveling to shows. Vintage, Walnut Herman Miller, George Nelson Designed 2 Pedestal Executive Office Desk and was most likely built between 1958 and 1963. The desk is from the Herman Miller Company’s Executive Office Group 8000 Series and is model 8865. The left pedestal has two drawers, an upper storage drawer and a lower file drawer. The right side is a 3-drawer pedestal. The"floating" walnut veneer desktop measures 84 inches long and 36 inches wide, 1-1/4 inch thick, and has a height of 29.5 inches. The attached privacy screen is in excellent condition. The desk is marked on two of the drawer handles with the Herman Miller name and logo, and has labels inside of two drawers that designate it as a George Nelson design. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and can be locked. There are 3 keys for the 2 locks. There are some small scratches, drill holes, tiny areas of veneer loss, an area of white paint, and areas of light fading. Holes were drilled into the top front of each pedestal to install plastic brackets to hold electric cords and two holes were drilled into the bottom of each pedestal. Overall this Herman Miller/George Nelson walnut desk is in very good vintage condition. See Photos) This desk easily disassembles for transport. The top can be removed with 6 bolts and the two pedestals are attached to the modesty screen with a few screws. According to the 1961 Herman Miller product brochure the 84 x 36 x 1-1/4 inch desk top is the largest available and weighs 110 pounds. This item is for pick-up only. This Auction is for an Antique 19th Century Approximately 1870's Victorian Walnut Kneehole Writing Table Desk. It measures 31 1/4" tall by 43" wide by 28" deep- it has five drawers with what appears to be its original turned wood handles- it has hand dovetailed drawers and is square nailed- the finish is either original or an old refinish- the leather top I believe is an old replacement- this is a chunky solid very well made piece of furniture- it has some minor use wear on the finish. This is an attractive desk lamp. With the style and lines of vintage modernism. The wood which I believe to be walnut, is a great color and has nice grain. The black metal arm and perforated shade are in good condition, with only a few small blemishes. The arm and shade swing left and right from the top of the wooden base. The shade pivots and swivels at the end of the arm. The perforation on the top center of the shade cast a mild light upward while also releasing heat from the bulbs. It works fine, and would be a beautiful addition to any modernist or mid century home or office. The shade is 13" in diameter. The base, which has an iron weight within, is 9" in diameter. All we did was polish it up, and some minor wear shows here and there in the finish, but it adds charm and character. We did replace the felt on the desk because it was in rough condition. This is called a butler’s desk because back in the old days, the butler was an important person in the household. He took care of the house, paid bills, and did all the food shopping. He would get the groceries, and he would make the list on this desk. It was also used as a dish cupboard in the dining room. This one has lots of burl on it, lots of rosettes, burl trim all over, and racetrack moldings on the doors, which retain their original brass hardware. The beautiful solid black walnut case has a carved crest on top, which is normally missing on these pieces. Westclox Tiny Tim Vintage Antique Walnut Bakelite Desk Clock 1920s - 1930s
My father was a craftsman and self-taught clockmaker and repairer. From the mid-60s to the mid-90s he acquired. Rebuilt, then sold nearly 1,000 antique clocks. When he passed away in 2003 he had almost 300 left. I inherited a share of them. We have decided to downsize our home and so some of the clocks have to go. Westclox patented its Tiny Tim line of desk clocks on March 29. 1927. The walnut Bakelite version was manufactured from 1928 until production on this line ended in 1933. I wound this cute little clock earlier today and it is still ticking but I do not guarantee how long it will. Its metal face is almost pristine and has intricate Art Nouveau vining in gold. The face of the clock reads, Westclox Tiny Tim. At the bottom of the dial, tiny print reads, Made in USA. The bottom has patent information. See photos. This Lap desk was inscribed and presented to the Reverend Charles Snedden(Born Aug 28. 1871-Died Dec 8, 1935) on the occasion of his leaving Thrumeter, I believe a town in South Wales, Australia) in 1905 and coming to the United States. You can go on GOOGLE and find out a lot about his history. I believe the wood is either Walnut or Rosewood. It has Brass inlays and the leather writing surface is super Gilt Tooled. The interior looks like Mahogany but I do not know a lot about wood. The desk is in good condition considering it is 110 years old. There is a crack inside on the bottom. There is felt on the bottom that is partially missing but I left it as is. There may be a hallmark underneath I do not know. You can check out the pictures. There are Two Hidden compartments in the Desk that can ... morebe used to hide important items. This Desk is truly a beautiful piece of History.
