Pierced Fretwork Returns, probably Philadelphia ... morePennsylvania Item# 120011TIT24 This is a beautiful and quite rare Philadelphia Game Table. Crafted with entirely solid mahogany primary woods chosen for their brilliant grain displays. Both table top surfaces are full planks of mahogany, deeply patinated with wonderful oxidization dancing beneath the warm glowing and quite early finish, lifting on hand forged hinges with original screws. A single drawer slides easily in and out of the frame, hand dovetailed front and back with what appears to be the original pierced brass hardware, all framed inside of cockbead molding that surrounds the drawer. The table rests over square marlboro legs, chamfered on the interior corner to lighten the overall appearance of the legs, these terminating in molded feet. The back leg swings over a knuckle joint on a very thick and heavy oak gate leg, appearing to be red oak, pinned to the leg with double pegs locking the tenon-mortise joint. Double pegs are also visible at both corners of the back of the table, and when the leg opens it reveals the clean dovetailed frame, these quite distinctive and perfectly matching the drawer. This is a wonderful find for the serious collector of Pennsylvania furniture. As well as the decorator looking for a highly versatile and absolutely gorgeous functional work of art. Working for any number of design settings, as a serving table in the dining room, a hallway table with a chair on either side, as a small desk in the library or as a functional card table, this piece is incredibly sturdy and is meant to be used. With a deep and glowing patina in the well preserved finish, stunning full boards of mahogany and the elegance highlighted in the fretwork and chamfered molded legs, this is a very fine piece for any formal home. This impressive desk has a shaped gallery back over a serpentine fronted top with central drawer flanked by shaped pedestals with further drawers being raised on squat cabriole legs. The chest has six drawers. The side lock enables the user to lock the five bottom drawers with a key which I have. Two of the pulls have been replaced on the drawer that contains the butlers desk. They blend well with the other pulls. The top contains two doors over a mirror. It has a gallery shelf on both sides of the doors. Underneath the shelves. The back walnut boards have a beaded board design. The sides of the chest also have a beaded board design. The top is removable for easier transport. The raised design on the drawer fronts are burl walnut veneer. The chest is in very good estate condition. It appears to have been refinished many years ago. 1800's Walnut Cylindrical Roll Top Secretary Desk With Bookcase
This is a very unique. Historic, piece possibly involved in 1906 California earthquake. It is a tall, dark walnut cylinder or barrel roll top glider desk with burled walnut. Dating from 1800-1890- time period uncertain. The bookcase is a separate piece for moving around. There are three(3) shelves that adjust on wooden supports. The bookcase measures 43 5/8 inches tall, 31 inches side to side and 12 inches front to back. The bird's eye roll top desk measures about 30 inches high(will need to remeasure to be certain) 30 inches side to side. The writing area measures 29 1/2 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches from front to cubbies, 6 inches of well worn felt(front to back) that is 23 3/4 inches across. Inside the roll top are 4 cubbies(5 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and one larger cubbie measuring 8 1/2 inches height, and 9 1/2 inches from side to ... moreside. Key holes, but keys are not available. The hardware includes square nails. More pictures available to show the detail clearer) There are three drawers with large brass and ebony wood knobs. The top drawers has two dividers. It is 4 inches top to bottom. 14 1/2 inches front to back. The dividers measure 7 1/2 inches, a larger one in the middle- 13 1/2 inches and another 7 1/2 inches. The other two drawers are both 8 1/2 inches top to bottom. It has wheels and it is in overall good condition but does show some signs of age. HISTORY There is a lot of mystery surrounding this piece and there is still research being conducted. Some clues are a Bank of America envelope with a.03$ stamp on it. A San Diego State College Envelope, postcards from Pacific Novelty Company and a collection of black and white photos with people and landscapes of China town, the San Francisco Bay area, and other picturesque scenery along the Pacific coast. The piece definitely has an unusual energy and most likely was involved in a very serious earthquake because of psychic visions.

The lower section has two large and two small drawers. The upper section has veined mirror facings. There are three removable finials at the top. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and can be locked. There are 3 keys for the 2 locks. There are some small scratches, drill holes, tiny areas of veneer loss, an area of white paint, and areas of light fading. Holes were drilled into the top front of each pedestal to install plastic brackets to hold electric cords and two holes were drilled into the bottom of each pedestal. 1840's ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT DRAWING ROOM DESK
Be sure to add me to your! This elegant SOLID WALNUT DRAWING ROOM DESK has a lift top with storage beneath and two drawers. It sands on four beautifully-turned legs which taper down to a distinctive ball before finishing with brass tips and rollers. Brass also finishes the drawer pulls. The main keyhole and hinges for the top. There is a decorative wood strip separating the drawer section from the writing top. There are large hand-wrought dovetails on the corners of the writer's top. A walnut cornice tops off the top flat section of the writers desk, also adorned with hand-wrought dovetails. Beautify wood grains flow thought the w alnut piece. The two drawers' interiors have some rough top edges. There appears to be deliberate rough carving of two indentations allowing something to lay across the drawers. None of this is visible from ... morethe outside. Toward the bottom of one of the legs there is a surface crack; and at the top of the same leg. There has been filling repair. The desk rolls nicely and is easily moved. It needs a good polishing. It measures 49 inches long and 25 inches deep, and stands 34 1/2 inches high in front, and 40 inches to the top of the cornice in back. It is finished all around and could grace the middle of a room. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

1960's Original Jens Risom Desk Parts Handles Walnut Restoration or Repurpose
For Sale are parts of an original Jens Risom Desk. I don't know much about the desk. My guess is it is from the 1960's. I believe it may be walnut. I purchased these parts locally with the idea that I would repurpose the top into a table but that never happened. I'm not sure what parts are missing- most likely a frame with legs including a part between the top and the two base pieces. Here are the condition details of each piece: Top: It measures 72 inches by 30 inches wide by 1 inch thick. Varnish is thin and scratched on top and underside. One edge as a small moisture stain on edge. Risom label is missing on underside- it was there when I bought it but is now missing. Underside has screw holes to either attach the missing frame piece or maybe attach the two'boxes' 3 Drawer Box- Two drawers are missing a corner of wood ... moreon drawer fronts. IT HAS A SLANT TOP PULL DOWN FRONT WITH LOTS OF CUBBYS INSIDE. UNDER THAT HAS A DRAWER AND UNDER THAT TWO DOORS THAT OPEN UP WITH TWO SHELVES INSIDE. IT HAS ITS ORIGINAL LOCKING KEY. THERE IS A REPLACED FRONT TO THE LOCK. THERE WAS A SMALL REPAIR DONE TO THE BACK OF THE WRITING SURFACE WHICH IS VERY STURDY. 1875 Walnut Lap Desk
Up for sale is a late 19 th century walnut lap desk in very good condition for its age. The piece measures 12 ¼” wide by 7 ½” across by 4”high. When the hinged flaps are opened. It exposes the original felt writing surface(worn, but intact) and measures 14 ½” There is a pullout drawer that has an old newspaper lining of classified ads. Since the ads are with Washington. D.C. addresses, so it’s more than likely that it is from that region. Three of the news items have various dates for the year 1875, so the desk is at least that old. The underside to the writing board has nine notches to adjust the board to several writing angles. The desk also has an intact locking mechanism. But there is no key. All of the parts appear to be 100% original, making this an excellent addition to your office or den. Thanks for looking!

Antique French Ladie's Inlaid Walnut Mechanical Desk
Antique French walnut mechanical inlaid ladie's desk. When the desk is closed there is an inlaid half wheel design. There is one piece of inlay missing. Closed 27" wide. 17" deep and 30" tall. When you slide the two sides to their full length is measures 51" wide. It has two small drawers on the inside, and one cubby hole above each drawer. It has the original leather writing surface. The bottom drawer pulls out, and if you like, you can pull out the writing surface to be closer to you. There is a small piece of moulding broke off on the top right. It is in very sturdy condition. Antique Victorian walnut secretary desk. In good condition with a few repairs. The drawer bottom has been replaced with plywood on the bottom drawer. Two small interior desk drawers have small round nails, some interior scratches, hinges have been moved on the drop front desk lid, some missing burl veneer and splits on bottom corners of drop front lid, some missing burl veneer on bottom right, a small piece of wood missing on bottom left. The Victorian secretary is all walnut with burl walnut highlights. Incised design on drop front lid, original wavy glass, chamfered panels on interior of bottom doors, original chamfered panels for secretary back. Vintage Kling Walnut Desk/Secretary
Vintage Kling Furniture Secretary/Desk. 77" tall x 17" deep x 33" wide. In beautiful condition. Has normal signs of age; a few nicks and scratches and a very tiny chip in veneer at corner of the top drawer. Drawer pulls have been replaced. The outline of the original pulls can been seen in the finish. This is a collectible. Original brass pulls can be gotten to increase the collectible value. As is, insurance replacement appraisal is $1,200. Made in 1930-32 by Frewsburg Furniture Co in NY. Frewsburg was a wholly owned subsidiary of Kling and one of several furniture companies making furniture for Kling. This piece was one of the first made for Kling and still has the Frewsburg Furniture Company shipping label on back which further verifies the date the piece was made. All of this has been confirmed with Jim Kling of Kling Furniture.

This rare Victorian walnut cylinder desk c1885 belonged to Connecticut Governor Henry Roberts B 1853 D 1929. Roberts became alderman of Hartford. Connecticut in 1897. He became a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1899. He held that position till 1901. He also was a member of the Connecticut State Senate from 1901 to 1902. He became lieutenant governor of Connecticut in 1903. He held that position till 1905. He became the 44th Governor of Connecticut on January 4, 1905. Opened up it is 64 1/2" wide, 29" deep and 45" tall. The writing surface is 53" across and 17" deep. There is a 13" by 3' drop down locking door, but no key. There are 13 shelves in the top part of the desk. There are 3 legal file holders in the bottom part of the desk. ANTIQUE CARVED WALNUT DESK INSERT W/ DROP DOWN FRONT + 6 DRAWERS
This is a very nice antique walnut desk insert with a drop down front and six small drawers. It was salvaged from a large two piece secretary desk. Most likely it is English. It measures aprox. 41 1/2" wide x 15" deep, 21 1/4" deep with the front dropped down x 7 3/4" high and the writing surface is 14" deep. It has dovetailed drawers, nice drawer pulls and brass latches that hold the front in place. The leather on top is cracked in the center, the small brackets on one of the open cubbyholes are missing and there is a scratch or gouge on the left side of the carved front that extends to the center which you can see in the pictures, part of the bottom board is missing as well. Incredible find.beautiful old Plantation Desk top. In lovely condition. Not abused, from a non-smoking home. Usually the only the bottom part of the plantation desks survive. But this complete top is in lovely, age-appropriate condition. I believe the wood is walnut with pine as a secondary wood. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. An age-appropriate pull would be wood. So it should be easy to replace. PENNSYLVANIA Probably Delaware River Valley. C. 1760-80 Inscribed illegibly on top of hidden box and on underside of desk Item# 1312XIJ11PA Planed and carved from solid walnut. Reserving a fine burl for the lid and prospect drawer while utilizing a softer and more straight grained walnut for the drawers and case, the desk was clearly designed by a craftsman who understood how to present wood in it's best light. Built to last many lifetimes, every joint is permanent, every line flawless and of perfect relationship to the whole. The four graduating drawers are edged by a thin cockbead molding, these flanked by robust deeply fluted classical columns. The interior is likewise inspired ... moreby the Corinthian columns of Greece, the letter slots flanking the prospect drawer deeply fluted with a bead edging at the top and bottom- the crisp way these nearly flawlessly become part of the surface speaks to the craftsman's talent in working wood; the edge of these fluted columns has a tiny bevelled lip that allows the finger to easily grasp and remove the slots from the desk. The prospect drawer opens to reveal three graduated drawers set inside a double-bead edged box, this secretly released from the space when a button is depressed from inside of the desk- by opening the top drawer, feeling along the inside until a tiny knot appears beneath the top, you can press a wedge of wood and pull the tiny box out of it's current space. Doing so reveals three hidden drawers inside the dovetailed box, the back of the box being a rectangular chamfered panel set in grooves on either side and lifting easily to reveal these drawers. The top of this hidden box is inscribed illegibly. The entire desk rests over robust ogee bracket feet with deep scrolling returns. CONDITION ISSUES: 1 side of lock is missing a screw. A crack following wood grain across bottom, felt is worn, faded and discolored along hinged area, some separation of the wood in one corner and in the pen compartment there are 2 ledges so I think there's a missing divider that sat there.
