The desk features ... morea gorgeous original finish and period hardware. There are four graduated drawers over flared french feet and shaped skirt. The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. The outside of the desk has been refinished but the inside is in its original condition. The internal lock mechanism is missing. But the outside lock plate is still there. One hinge is also a little loose. As you would expect of a piece used in a schoolhouse, it has a few scuffs. However, these are part of the charm of the piece.

Oak slant-top countinghouse or printer's desk. Late 19th century. Beautiful dark oak finish and wide grain to wood. Turned spindle legs. Rail and turned stiles on top. Two divided drawers with brass pulls. One drawer has a wooden escutcheon, but the other's is missing and damaged. Desk top does not lift. Including rail and stiles. Desk stands 59" tall(nearly 5' Height to desk top is 46" and clearance between bottom of desk and the ground is 36 1/2" Desk is 48" 4' wide and 29" deep. This Fine Desk was made by. Maddox Colonial Reproductions" of Jamestown, NY, from Mahogany Wood. It measures at 33.5" W x 16.5" D x 41.5" H and is in good condition. The drop down desk surface has sliding desk supports, and it has well outfitted interior compartments. One of my favorite elements of this piece are the hidden compartments, common to these desks. A little history. Maddox began the Maddox table company in 1898. In the early years, Maddox made a variety of tables. Eventually, Maddox became known for the colonial reproductions that were featured in their line as they expanded from tables to include other furniture. American Chippendale Slant Front Desk over Scroll Cut Bracket Feet Salem or Boston. Massachusetts c. 1770-90 Item# 120201PUP05 Presenting some of the best of the American Chippendale Period. This fine slant front desk is crafted of solid Cuban Mahogany, each side crafted of a single solid plank, through-dovetailed at the top and dovetailed at the bottom. The slant front lid features an original keyhole escutcheon over what appears to be the original brass lock, falling onto arms that slide out with brass knobs- one original, the left one replaced. The open writing surface is clean, with what appear to be two original brass hinges, though curious patching is noted below flanking each hinge. Above the writing surface is a collection of nine small drawers. The centermost shell carved, each with brass knobs, below which a gallery of six pigeon ... moreholes rest in perfect symmetry. The case has four graduated drawers, each of which feature period bail pull brass hardware flanking a replaced lock with original brass keyhole escutcheon. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the front dovetails hidden behind applied cockbead molding. The drawers are yellow pine secondaries, the bottom being deeply chamfered along the perimeter to rabbet into the frame. They slide easily in and out of the case over replaced drawer runners, the drawer dividers running into the sides behind a mahogany facade, effectively hiding what are probably dovetail joints. The back of the case has all original backboards. Though many nails are replaced. The molded apron features a carved shell drop down medallion in the center that mirrors the design of the middle drawer. The case rests over scroll cut bracket feet, each with an incredible flowing design in the manner of John Chipman(b. 1746-1819) We do not believe the desk was executed in the shop of John Chipman. As his cases will typically feature exposed dovetail drawer dividers in the Newport manner, and the pidgeon-hole gallery will regularly feature more intense scalloping- however,

Family lore has it that this was made in 1840 but I don't know for sure. This was my father's father and. Given to me but I'm headed to. South America and none of our children want it. All the drawers and top are joined. With dovetails at the corners. All the drawer bottoms have chamfered. Ends that fit into a tight track in the drawer. Sides. I'm guessing that drawer facewood. Is cherry(mahogany? and hinder parts of drawers made from boxwood. All the drawers fit precisely. The large drawers have grooves worn in them. From riding over guidance rails in the front of. The drawer entry points(see pics) It looks like. This was by design to accommodate the heavy. Drawers(which are prob mahogany. Not cherry) Veneer is poor in several areas. Esp the slope top front. The three pieces of molding that need to be glued back onto the'ankles' The brass balls in the feet at each corner rotate. In fact, as I was rolling the 200 lb desk back inside after the photo shoot. I'll put it back in place with some wood screws. Before sending it out. Antique oak slant top desk. Slant top section lifts on brass H-hinges from the top providing an excellent storage space beneath. Secondary wood is pine. The flat side area has been covered in green felt and has two small drawers. Drawers are framed with molding and have decorative wooden pulls and sturdy dovetail joints. Wide turned legs complete the Victorian-era look of the desk. This desk dates from the late 1800's. Overall. The desk is in very good condition. There is a little bit of sagging in the middle of the desk, where the two sides join, which has caused some of the wood to separate. See picture. Antique Wooden Slant Top Desk w/2 Inside Drawers
This antique wooden slant top desk opens up to reveal a storage area divided into compartments in the back. Two of which have drawers in them. The desk measures 33” wide. 23” deep and is 30 1/2” high in the front and 38 1/2” high in the back, including the back panel. It has a keyhole and some metal hardware inside but there is no key and the lid does not latch down. This desk most likely originated in the South. I do not know the age of the piece but would guess late 1800s? The inside compartments and drawers may have been added at a later date. It is not pine or oak but otherwise I am not sure what kind of wood it is made from. The outside has been stained at some point but the inside shows how light-colored the wood was originally. This desk has everything you would want: beautiful finish work, large storage drawers, and internal cubis and drawers.The desk is 42 7/8 inches high, 21 inches deep, and 39 3/4 inches wide. It has all original hardware, ball and claw feet, a secret compartment, and a key to lock the top portion of desk. It was commissioned by NL Gardner in 1905, and has been in the family since. This fantastic Burl Walnut Victorian Slant Front Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top breaks down into two pieces for transport(bookcase top and bottom base with desk) is full of character, has many lovely design details and a spectacular warm finish. The bookcase top is graced with a beautiful crown moulding accented with lovely burl-clad scalloped moulding. Three raised horizontal burl panels are found beneath the crown moulding and additional vertical burl accents are found on the sides of the glass doors which are adorned ... morewith picture frame moulding. Antique cherry slant front desk. I did some research on the web as I have never seen one before found one almost alike on ebay. In nice condition considering I believe it to be from the early 1900's. Brass wheels with ball bearings in them along with a heavy black rubber wheel. On the wheels reads Noelting Faultless Evansville Indiana. No other makers mark. Measures 32-1/4" l x 16" w x 27" tall. Margolis Mahogany Slant Top, Block Front Desk
Beautiful mahogany slant top. Block front desk made by Nathan Margolis, in very good condition. This desk has everything you would want: beautiful finish work, large storage drawers, and internal cubis and drawers.The desk is 42 7/8 inches high, 21 inches deep, and 39 3/4 inches wide. It has all original hardware, ball and claw feet, secret compartments, and a key to lock the top portion of desk. It was commissioned by NL Gardner in 1905, and has been in the family since. The back board is slightly warped as shown in picture, and there are slight nicks on feet, but no significant damage. Margolis is reputed to have been the best cabinet maker of the twentieth century and has pieces at Winterthur. He is known for making high quality. Traditional pieces. It features original brass hardware, a single pull-out drawer beneath the desk, and six compartments inside to store letter, bills, etc. I estimate the age of this piece to be approximately 110 years. All of the drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing, each drawer is hand dovetailed, the brass hardware pulls and escutcheons are original, the hidden drawer is shaped and in the interior section behind small door, bracket feet are original, secondary wood is pine and the back boards of pine are hand planed. Here is a fantastic original circa late 1700's English solid oak desk with gorgeous figured mahogany. The mahogany may have been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when mahogany became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. The top drawer is a false drawer and then the 2 over 3 drawers are all graduated. All of the drawers inside and out are hand dovetailed as shown. Fine English George III Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk Late 18th Century Item# 130106KKP08 This is a very fine work of precision. Laudable in every regard as a work of a highly skilled craftsman. The first feat was the selection of boards that would truly set this desk apart- it is an understatement to describe the golden and brilliant flow of mahogany from the slant lid through the top as simply brilliant. It is pure and breathtaking. The paired boards are literally superior to almost every desk we have handled in their visual qualities: the excited swirls of each board flow into one another with a symmetry that is not simply mirrored or"match-booked" but is carefully planned and took great consideration on the part of the craftsman. Effect like this is rare and shows great taste and means. The rest of the case has a warm"plum ... morepudding" appearance to the mahogany. The graduated drawer facades intentionally restrained in order to highlight the stunning gilt-bronze hardware on each drawer. These original pieces are works of art, exceedingly expensive even at the time of production. Flanking the drawers are the drawer slides, these with dangling hand forged gilt bronze pulls. Each of these parts is framed in thin applied cockbead molding; on the drawers, this molding wraps around the hand dovetailed front joints. The sides of the case are solid planks of mahogany. Each a fine and broad selection- the left side is a single plank, the right side is two planks of very close grain formations. The back of the case is undisturbed with even color, the entire case resting over original bracket feet of robust and appropriate breadth to match the overall air of the case. This desk was recently picked from an old home here in NH. It is made of solid black walnut. Two piece construction for easy moving and is 100% ORIGINAL It has a drop front writiing surface or lid in good condition, meaning not cracked at the hinges, it does however have a small crack in front corner of lid. see photo) This crack is easily glued back as it has no stress at this point so not a big deal The drawer is in good condition and has early dovetails, the legs are turned and reeded, the original gallery is present and so are the original keys. Being presented for sale is this outstanding Large Victorian Renaissance Revival Library Table/ Tutor Desk with Drawers circa 1875. This fine library table tutor desk is a beautiful 19th century piece with a stately presence! This antique library table/ writing desk measures 29 1/2 inches high. 34 1/2 inches wide and 22 1/2 inches deep, knee-hole height of 24 inches and this table weighs approximately 50 lbs. The top offers lovely vintage replacement felt that is in wonderful vintage condition on a wide conforming table apron with fantastic incised carvings on each end and the front and back sides each offer a working drawer and Ink Well drawer. The lock are intact andthe key works in opening the drawer. The drawer has the same incised carvings that are present on the sides and early period hand-cut dove-tailed ends. The fall front having the original brass'batwing' lockplate/escutcheon& enclosing a fitted interior with 14 pigeon holes& one central drawer. Below are two short over three long drawers all having the original brass handles and batwing lockplates, all with hand cut dovetails, the desk standing on shaped bracket feet. RARE 18TH CENTURY SOUTH SHORE MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE PERIOD"DUCK FOOT" MAPLE SLANT LID DESK With our honor we are delighted to offer you this sweet 18th Century Chippendale period circa 1770's South Shore Massachusetts"duck foot" Maple slant lid desk with completely dovetailed case fine interior with super moldings. A fan carved door that is complimented by Tiger Maple work surface. The case has great integrity& presence with four graduated drawers and original loafers. To address the first and most obviously important feature of this desk is this whimsical variation on the drake foot. These legs are absolutely beyond any shadow of a doubt correct and original to this desk's case. We have been over it with a fine tooth comb. The legs have an extreme Ogee form that lends to the handsome appearance of this ... morefine American Revolutionary War vintage Chippendale period desk. The importation of mahogany was becoming extremely difficult due to the British Naval Blockades of important ports and trade routes. Existing stockpiles of mahogany were scarce and native woods had to be employed. The secondaries of this desk are in pine with chamfered chestnut panels on its drawer bottoms. This desk is pure and correct in its first finish and obviously a cleaned surface. The case of this desk has a wonderful robust dovetailed single plank base made of old growth native pine and a very unique and telling pine tooled molding that accents its base. The statement of its attribution is made on the strong opinion of our most senior member who has encountered one or two of these in untouched intact 18th century estates in the formal years of his training in his native South Shore Communities of Massachusetts.
