It has claw front feet and is in very good condition, however, it does have ... moresome light surface scratches and general wear that are typical of a piece that probably dates to the early 19th century, although I cannot be completly sure of its age. It has lovely carved accents and trim. The key is intact with it and the little side supports come out automatically when the front writing desk surface is lowered. Someone has unfortunately drilled a hole in the back that is about 2" in diameter. The desk has 4 drawers with all of the original knobs intact. It stands 41" tall at the trim at the back, 40" tall at the top, is 41" wide at the feet, 37" wide at the top, and is a total of 22" deep at the bottom, and 19" deep at the top.

To find cotter pinned brasses like these original to an 18th century piece is both noteworthy and very important. Any American 18th century cases on original frames immediately signifies something very special and important to period American furniture collecting. The work lid and drawer face are all molded. The interior of the desk is laid out in a step back semi amphitheater form with drawers possessing molded bases and a nice series of document cubbies. The case is completely correct and absolute original to the frame. Its simply a remarkably beautiful piece we couldn't possibly be prouder of. It is 38 1/2" long, 19" wide and 41 1/2" tall just perfect in scale. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. There are a couple of very small little marks or bumps but nothing major and overall it is in Very Good used condition. This Would Be A Very Stylish Addition To Any Home! This solid walnut desk/podium/stand is both useful and practical for many areas including home and office. I am not sure of the age but my opinion is from the 1940's-1960's. It is solid and sturdy in construction. It is in great original found condition. The wood finish is original wth a great patina. The top surface slants at a angle so that whatever is displayed is easily noticable. And there is also a"catch all" strip of wood that runs parrallel to the lower side of the slanted top(see picture 4) The legs are turned and accent the piece. There are rubber castors on each leg. The inner desk case and all drawers are dovetailed construction. The front dovetails of the drawers have been bulked up with added strips of wood that cover them up. but they are there! The back corners of the drawers are dovetailed as well. I pulled the inner case out so you can see the construction. Also there is rough cut wood on all drawer bottoms and back of inner case. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

Rare 18th century Queen Anne slant front desk with bandy legs and slipper feet. This desk is fresh to the market from a local estate. It looks like cherry. But I believe it is actually applewood. It measures 40" wide x 38.5" tall x 17" deep with a writing height of 26" The condition is as follows. The front right foot is broken, but the original piece is there and needs to be glued back on. There are a couple of breaks to the drawer lips(se pictures) The interior is complete, but one of the cutouts on the top of the pigeon holes is replaced. Some of them need to be glued back in place. There is a little worming to the bottom board, but overall a solid piece of furniture. The wooden pulls are replacements. This is a very pretty ladies desk owned by the seller’s family for over 40 years. It has a low applied scroll-carved crest rail over the wide hinged curved slant front and cabriole legs. A fitted interior. Long curved front drawer and two smaller curved front drawers complement the design. Antique Slant Desk 1880 Primitive but Original Great piece very nice looking. Goes with primitive.Country, federal and early Armerican Décor. Nice slant desk for office-bedroom-foyer. Nice for young adult-child. Measures 25.5 by 25 and 32 inches high. Very old piece that has the wear from generation to generation. Overall sturdy and excellent original. Besides the age in the wood you can see some of the old original nails that were used during the 1800's. This was a desk that you would see furnished in a country farm house or rural area not an aristocratic rich family in the city so the desk would be handed down from generation to generation home to home so they would repair it as needed. I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite like it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. Here is an absolutely gorgeous antique mahogany desk with lovely burl mahogany veneer and border design inlay. Circa 1840 and American made. This slant front desk drawers. The desk stands 43 inches tall and measures 38 inches wide by 21 inches deep, front to back. The writing surface itself is 36 inches wide by 21 inches from front to back. The surface is beautiful and in very good condition. The inside of the desk also reveals 16 small drawers and an additional cubby with lovely inlay door as shown. Below the desk slant front. T here are four large drawers. Each 31 1/2 inches wide and 18 1/4 inches front to back and then 2 3/4, 3 3/4, 4 3/4 and 6 inches deep respectively, in descending order. The lock sets are original and in working order and the keys are replaced. The drawers are all still lined with a thin blue paper.certainly a Victorian ... morething. The desk is in very good early 19th century condition in that it has had some restoration through the years.ie veneer and stringing inlay repairs and replacements. Cherished and not abused, from a non-smoking home. My parents bought it in Charlottesville, VA in the early 1970s. Beautiful striped veneer vertically across the slanted top. In exceptional condition for the age. Some small losses and light cracks in veneer, very small, I'm happy to send photos. The dovetails are not hand cut and irregular. But are consistent. Online I found this description: A close inspection shows no irregular saw cuts or variation from a skilled craftsman, but rather a precise and identical manufactured machined joint. These machine-cut dovetails are as strong and long lasting as the hand-made joints, and became the standard of better American furniture ever since the late 1890's. So this desk may be very late 1800s or early 1900s. Another indication is that the back is not multiple boards. But appears to be an early plywood? There is a tiny hole drilled in the back where I think my dad had our phone(land line) cord come in so the phone could be in the desk. Regardless, it is a beautiful old desk. PENNSYLVANIA Probably Delaware River Valley. C. 1760-80 Inscribed illegibly on top of hidden box and on underside of desk Item# 1312XIJ11PA Planed and carved from solid walnut. Reserving a fine burl for the lid and prospect drawer while utilizing a softer and more straight grained walnut for the drawers and case, the desk was clearly designed by a craftsman who understood how to present wood in it's best light. Built to last many lifetimes, every joint is permanent, every line flawless and of perfect relationship to the whole. The four graduating drawers are edged by a thin cockbead molding, these flanked by robust deeply fluted classical columns. The interior is likewise inspired ... moreby the Corinthian columns of Greece, the letter slots flanking the prospect drawer deeply fluted with a bead edging at the top and bottom- the crisp way these nearly flawlessly become part of the surface speaks to the craftsman's talent in working wood; the edge of these fluted columns has a tiny bevelled lip that allows the finger to easily grasp and remove the slots from the desk. The prospect drawer opens to reveal three graduated drawers set inside a double-bead edged box, this secretly released from the space when a button is depressed from inside of the desk- by opening the top drawer, feeling along the inside until a tiny knot appears beneath the top, you can press a wedge of wood and pull the tiny box out of it's current space. Doing so reveals three hidden drawers inside the dovetailed box, the back of the box being a rectangular chamfered panel set in grooves on either side and lifting easily to reveal these drawers. The top of this hidden box is inscribed illegibly. The entire desk rests over robust ogee bracket feet with deep scrolling returns. Template By Froo! Antique English Cherry Slant-Top Desk w/ False Drawer in Old Finish C. 1810 An English. Georgian, slant-top desk with bracket base in old finish. Circa 1810. The desk, 36" wide and 20 1/2" deep, is probably cherry with secondary woods of pine and oak. The substantial desk has a false top drawer over two small drawers over two graduated drawers.the fitted interior has two drawers on each side with a door middle and carved dividers.there is a hidden drawer for valuables. The top is dovetailed and a ledge is attached to the slant lid, probably for writing purposes. The brasses appear to be original, as are the locks. There is a possibility that the top drawer has been modified to create the hidden space in the interior.I'm pretty sure that the pull-outs to hold the lid have been replaced. At least one of the boards ... moreon the back has been replaced. The desk is quite dark and may be the original finish that needs a good cleaning and polish. Several of the drawer bottoms have been repaired due to wear.the drawers work well. There is a fairly deep mark on the lower part of the lid and some cracks on the top. This is an estate piece that has come down through the family(important, American descendants)the name of the family will be revealed to the buyer with provenance going back to the grandmother. I am selling the desk for the family and took photos on the present site in"as is" condition with no cleaning or polishing. The buyer will have to make arrangements with the family to pick up the desk at the present location in Massachusetts.time is not a particular problem and arrangements for storage in the home could be arranged. Origin: Massachusetts Date: C. 1810 Style/Period: Sheraton Materials: Solid mahogany with figured mahogany veneer. Pine secondary wood and original stamped brass hardware Dimensions: 38 7/8" long x 21 3/8" wide x 44" high. Turreted corners typical of Sheraton pieces from this period and region with original oval pulls and a slant lid form more commonly seen on earlier desks mark this as an early transitional period piece. Antique Original 1800's Primitive Slant Top Shopkeeper's Desk
Primitive Original Antique Slant Top Shopkeeper's Desk Circa 1880-1900 Very old piece that shows the appropriate wear one would expect from a shopkeeper's desk. This piece was used both in an early drugstore and real estate office in Quogue. New York. It never had a base as it was always used on a counter. For an old piece, it is very sturdy and in very good condition. It has the original hinges and lock; there is no key. Desk measures about 30 inches wide. 28 inches from front to back, height of desk in back 10 inches, height at front is 7 inches. Some pictures show the desk on a base. Base is an optional purchase. We found the base years ago and sat the desk on it as it was the perfect size. If you are interested in the base. We would sell that for an additional $25.

This solid white oak slant top desk is unique in that it is made of quater sawn white oak. Many(most) of these utilitarian type desks were made from a variety of avaialble woods that do not have the character or luster that quarter sawn white oak has. This elegant desk is adorned with ornate carvings and has the original inside letter and pen holders exactly as the builder crafted it. The desk measures 40" high x 30" wide X 15" deep.
