Traditional satinwood fan inlay adorns the center of the fall. A few nicks and wear marks add character to the wood, although there are not many and they are mostly concentrated around the base, which is normal for a piece of this age. Meanwhile, a series of brass swan neck pulls adorn the drawer fronts. The desk area itself is inlaid with a rich writing surface of fine, brown leather bordered by gold tooling. As far as we can tell, this leather appears in the condition as other vintage leather samples that we’ve come across, so it is most likely original. Here is a vintage bronze medal honoring the Secretary of Treasury. Joseph Barr, who served an extremely short term from Dec. 1968- January 1969. The bronze medal is still in the original plastic and box– although the box has some writing and wear. I believe the box shows the original price as well.
