Letter holders, file card drawers etc. It is a double pedestal desk with wainscot panel sides and back panels. The right pedestal has a pull out writing board over 3 dove tail joined drawers. The left pedestal has another pull up tambour door to reveal cabinet space. It is a large 55.25" by 32.25" executive size desk w. Overall height is47.75" high with the writing desk top at a standard 30" height from the floor. It has a blind front oak panel where the center drawer once sat but for some reason the previous owner chose to do away with the drawer and make a blind front oak board. The original drawer guides are still intact and you could easily add a drawer box to the panel to have a top center drawer again. Very nice tiger oak grain throughout with a natural oak finish on the wood. It un-assembles into 3 parts for transport, Two side columns and desktop with tmabour and, desk top and cubby space. This is a Victorian 54-inch-wide roll-top desk of solid black walnut with molded panels and carved handles. That dates from the 1880 era. ... moreIt has been completely stripped, re-glued, refinished, the canvas roll has been all re-canvassed, and we had to re-fabricate one handle(bet you can’t tell which one when you see the desk! Any molding damaged was replaced, any panels that were damaged were replaced, any wood damaged or ink-stained was replaced– we do one heck of a job when we go through a desk! The interior has burl walnut pencil trays and cubby drawers, and the original letter holders on both sides of the desk. We’ve even replaced the felt insert with the original factory dark green color. It has an applied beveled edge base, and a finished off back. We always put a reproduction roll-top lock in, which will be done before shipping. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 36 inches deep, 30 inches high to the writing surface from the floor, and 50 inches high to the top of the desk. The lock mechanism prevents the drawers from opening when the roll-top is down. The drawers are all dovetail, and there are four drawers on each side, including one extra deep drawer for files on each column. Plus, it has pullout walnut writing surfaces. This RollTop Desk(47hx32dx54w) has three major moving parts aside from the six side drawers and four inside birds-eye faced drawers. The first moving part is the Facing which rolls back. The second is the desktop which rolls out to reveal 4 more birds-eye detailed drawer facings(facing only and not actual drawers) The third is a writing platform embedded into the desktop which can be propped up as shown in one of the pictures. None of the locks work- as I have none of the keys to test them. There are imperfections in the form of scratches and in one area(top tight as shown in one of the pictures) where a portion.About 1 to 1.5 inch square, of the wood facing is missing.

for auction is a very rare model signed grand rapids desk company roll top desk with a bookcase on top. i have a 20 years book with one identical to this listed in it. it was valued at 2800 osver 20 years ago. anyway. This is a wonderful desk, great quartersawn flake all thru all the boards. great construction and quite heavy for its size. it has too many features to mention, but hopefully the pictures will bring them out. the desk portion is 28 inches deep, 31 tall, and 40 inches wide. it has nicely form doors with great carving on the fronts, the one on the left opens to expose three small drawers, the one on the right opens to nicely scalloped dividers. the knee hole of the desk is rounder out at the back and is nicely paneled on either side. the roll top is 11 inches tall, 37 wide, and 25.25 deep and has a nice set of cubbies with a pull ... moreout drawer and pencil holders etc. the roll top rolls like butter and has the grand rapids desk company brass name plate over the lock of which i do not have a key. i have a key blank for it and can make a key if i get time. the top bookcase portion sits in a recess of the top of the roll top and is 37 inches wide, 10.75 deep, and 30.5 inches tall including the crown board. it retains the original wavy glass, lock, quartersawn oak fancy dividers for the top of the glass and has one shelf which can be adjusted to your liking as there are additional holes in both side of the cabinet to place the shelf holder pins. the entire unit is nicely paneled and finished all the way around so it can be placed anywhere in a room and will look nice, it is not necessary to place against a wall. the unit is three portion which come apart with ease. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. But the rest is legible. Quick restore polish used on the furniture. In Storage for years.I did do a repair on the rear leg as shown. Was cracked and poorly repaired. Removed the old metal brace. I took the leg off and drilled ... moreboth portions in the center of the 2 pieces and installed a steel rod 1/2" diameter X 6" length. Pin is not visible as the pin is in the middle of the wood. The leg will NEVER break there again. A new L brace on the back side unseen from the front to complete the repair.Nice tight repair. Other issue is the tamba door which rolls up& down. I had to duct tape the handle on the back side. A new cloth or woven material should be glued on the back side so it rolls nicely again as one. Probably billiard felt would work well too. With contact cement on both portions and clamp. The door rolls as shown now. I spent enough time repairing the leg on this so new owner will complete this noted defect. For ultimate show the piece should be refinished or at minimum touched up with Orange shellac as is the original finish still on the pieces.Typical of 1940s-1950s furniture refinishing. Repair shop can do this relatively easy. If I had more time would do it myself. Its noted so no surprises. That said its a nice older sturdy desk that will retain value. Oak is always desired. Outstanding American Quarter Sawn S Tiger Oak Roll Top Desk. Raised and beveled oak side panels. Late 1800's or early 1900's. 50"L. 34"W, 51"H. High grade and highly figured tiger oak in excellent condition restored at some point but shows some wear expected from a desk of this age. Some of the drawer bottoms have been expertly restored with old wood. The desk is a rich medium brown. The full desk interior has all drawer compartments filled with beautiful drawers with brass hardware. And two with waterfall fronts. Roll top desks with full drawer interiors are very scarce because of their higher initial cost. The drawer pulls on the two pedestals are unusually carved and quite rare and beautiful. 1800's Walnut Cylindrical Roll Top Secretary Desk With Bookcase
This is a very unique. Historic, piece possibly involved in 1906 California earthquake. It is a tall, dark walnut cylinder or barrel roll top glider desk with burled walnut. Dating from 1800-1890- time period uncertain. The bookcase is a separate piece for moving around. There are three(3) shelves that adjust on wooden supports. The bookcase measures 43 5/8 inches tall, 31 inches side to side and 12 inches front to back. The bird's eye roll top desk measures about 30 inches high(will need to remeasure to be certain) 30 inches side to side. The writing area measures 29 1/2 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches from front to cubbies, 6 inches of well worn felt(front to back) that is 23 3/4 inches across. Inside the roll top are 4 cubbies(5 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and one larger cubbie measuring 8 1/2 inches height, and 9 1/2 inches from side to ... moreside. Key holes, but keys are not available. The hardware includes square nails. More pictures available to show the detail clearer) There are three drawers with large brass and ebony wood knobs. The top drawers has two dividers. It is 4 inches top to bottom. 14 1/2 inches front to back. The dividers measure 7 1/2 inches, a larger one in the middle- 13 1/2 inches and another 7 1/2 inches. The other two drawers are both 8 1/2 inches top to bottom. It has wheels and it is in overall good condition but does show some signs of age. HISTORY There is a lot of mystery surrounding this piece and there is still research being conducted. Some clues are a Bank of America envelope with a.03$ stamp on it. A San Diego State College Envelope, postcards from Pacific Novelty Company and a collection of black and white photos with people and landscapes of China town, the San Francisco Bay area, and other picturesque scenery along the Pacific coast. The piece definitely has an unusual energy and most likely was involved in a very serious earthquake because of psychic visions.

This is a vintage mail cabinet from the 1920s that can be used as a wine cabinet. This comes in two pieces. The bottom piece is 30" X 30" X 18" There are 4 drawers and 2 opening cabinets. The top part is 25.5" X 36" X 13.5" This part has a sliding door that has a key hole to lock(Key is not included and lock has not been tested) There are 30 slots in the top part. 750mL standard bottles and 1.5L magnum bottles were used in these photographs. They fit inside the slots. But the door CAN NOT slide down and close when these bottles are inside. The half bottle(375mL) will be the only bottle that allows the cabinet to slide down and close. Massive Antique Quarter-Sawn Oak Roll Top Desk Owned by Canadian Mounties
Massive antique oak roll top desk made by Horrocks— practically a ship. 71.5" wide. 35" almost 35.5" deep, with 30.5" of desk surface, and 43" high at the tallest point. This desk spent most of its life in an office of the Canadian Mounties. A traveling U.S. citizen fell in love with it and talked the Mounties into selling it to him; he moved it to Colorado, where he discovered it was too big to fit into his study/office, and so it went into storage for 40 years. It came to Santa Cruz, CA, in 1970; my father, who loves all things massive and well-made, bought it and it has been in my family's home since then. It needs a new home. A big one. With a big door. The smaller things: this desk has three deep drawers to the left of the chair space and two to the right(one is sized as a file cabinet) And a large flat drawer ... morewith a key(we have the key) It has many small drawers at the back of the desk space. There are two very cool corner drawers(on the inside of the inner arch, and they open up to a curved trough, which is perfect for pens and pencils. There is a mystery drawer with no known key. There are two pull-out writing tables. One drawer has a chip taken out of the wood, and we have the piece(as shown) One leg(to the left of the chair space) needs some refinishing. The desk is in very good general condition, and could use a good waxing. The hardware is brass. The roll top can stick but it works. And we have the key for it, too. Finally, the number"1821" is stamped on the underside of the desk. This is a splendid and dramatic desk. It is also comfortable to use. Its size makes it easier to accommodate modern office equipment than most antiques.

ESCANABA, MI on FEBRUARY 16-17, 2013. Attention Collector's-A Desk with a History! I am selling my beautiful antique oak roll-top desk. A letter was lodged in the desk behind the cubbyholes. Behind the roll, dated April 29, 1909, addressed to Gus Lilquist, City from C. W. Davis, Lumber and Coal, Gladstone, Mich. postmarked Gladstone, Mich.1909. Research indicates that Gus operated a saloon in Gladstone up until 1918. The intrigue builds! There is a bullet hole through the front of one of the drawers, and a round ball impression on the inside of the drawer where the ball stopped, like from an old muzzle loader! The door on the side which had been locked was kicked in. ... moreWhat valuables did Gus keep behind that door! What sort of ruffians did Gus have to deal with in Gladstone in the early 1900s! Was there a shoot-out! Was there a murder! Was there a robbery! What happened! Who knows! My beautiful and mysterious desk has 4 drawers on one side. And a door on the other side with 3 square open cubbyholes, above 3 long open cubbyholes that are behind the door. Above each side, just under the writing surface, is a pull-out board. The cubbyhole section contains 18 open slots, 1 drawer, and 2 pencil slots. The tambour slides easily and has a key to lock it. Its dimensions are 48" wide, 30" deep, and 44" tall. It is in very good. Beautiful condition. I have included photos of the bullet hole. Paperwork from inside the desk indicates that it was made by Moon Desk Company in Muskegon, Michigan for the St. John Family of Spartanburg, SC. We have found info on Moon Desk Company as early as their first patent from 1893 and as late as 1918 when the company went out of business.
