The flame mahogany looks incredible. With a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to complement any setting. Each drawer is adorned with elegant solid brass pulls and features dovetailed joints. The writing surface is inlaid with rich brown leather bordered by gold tooling-which was replaced during a recent restoration that also included a new coat of hand-rubbed wax. In total, this desk features three drawers and two cabinets on one side, with seven standard drawers and a file drawer on the other. Conveniently this desk disassembles quite easily: like all pedestal desks, the top simply rests securely on the two pedestals. Some of the surfaces show some minor wear marks, particularly on the feet, but they are very minor indeed, so overall condition is excellent, especially for a desk from this period. I am selling my stunning vintage Mahogany Sligh executive partners(double sided) desk- this is a very heavy SOLID WOOD desk. No pressed wood, veneer, etc- it is WOOD. The top has 3 inlaid leather panels with gold leaf detail. After tsome of the pictures were taken I electrified the desk, there is now a computer cable access in the center of the desk and an attach electric breaker outlet bar under for plugging in computers, printers, etc, the installation is done neatly and professionally. Comes complete with all 4 glass inkwells, 2 with black bakelite lids and 2 with red bakeliite lids, no chips nor damage at all, to the shades and none to the inkwells. Up for auction is a wood craftsman custom made architect's partners desk. It came out the First Colony Developers Office in Atlanta. It sits on dual wood casters. The side supports are tenon and mortise joints, the top is pegged, and the drawers are dove tailed. It has beautiful carvings throughout. The drawers are 29" long inside. The desk measures 6' x 5' and completely comes apart down to the main cabinet. The top is made of two pieces together that is 1-3/4" thick and has had some professionally repair done on the laminated top edges. I'm not a furniture expert but based on the casters and hardware it would likely date back to the 40's maybe earlier. All the drawers have locks but no keys. The one door has the old barrel type skeleton key but got bent up somewhere along its journey. It goes in to the slot ... morebut does not operate the lock. Please look at the photos closely. This desk has been in my family since 1911, it is probably earlier. This desk has drawers on each side, however only one side opens. There is some damage on the sides and legs to the desk, please see pictures. The major flaw is a split piece holding the left rear leg of the desk, this has been poorly repaired, but all the original wood is still there for future repair. Please see photo. This desk inkwell was made in France as intimated by the Depose 93 and scripted C in an X markings underneath. The main decorative theme of Chinese scroll dragons throughout also indicates this late 19th century date. Both glass bell shaped inkwells are present. The presence of 4 holes indicates that there was a decorative piece which went in the middle of the pen rests and inkwells and is now sadly missing. The cock-beaded drawers have the original brass key escutcheons and later turned mahogany knobs. All drawers and cupboard doors feature working locks and keys. To the back of the desk, there are a further three working drawers and below, there are two large working cupboards with hinged doors. I am an academic. And I brought this 19c antique Partners' Desk with me from England to Massachusetts some years ago. It has a nice slant for writing, and good little drawers that are very handy. Church Street Antiques has been trading in London's famous Marylebone antiques district for twenty-five years Specializing in English antique furniture 1750-1920. We have a large stock. Including dining furniture, bedroom furniture, and drawing room furniture, as well as lighting and ornamental pieces. This antique partners pedestal desk has to be the best model I've ever had. It's absolutely stunning& fabulous quality too. I can't possibly list all the incredible feature. But I'll try a bit, so please enlarge all the images to see for yourselves. I would date it to around the 1890-1910 period. It's burr walnut, figured walnut& solid walnut, plus it has the original brass handles. There is a shaped tooled leather writing surface& there are pull out leather topped slides on either side. The top section has ... moreconvexed ends all the way around, including the drawers. It has beautifully shaped burr walnut panels on the outside& inside the pedestal. All the edges are curved& it sits on ogee bracket feet. There are drawers to the front, plus a single drawer on the top section of the back& cupboards below, with shelves inside. The burr walnut is really tight& the drawers are finely dovetailed. This desk also has a lovely original colour& comes apart into three sections. I don't think it's quite sitting together perfectly in the images, which is why you may spot the odd slight gap where the top sits on the pedestals. In fact I can see it's not lined up straight. This desk has just been restored& polished, with locks& keys, so it's in good condition. Width- 64" 162 cm Depth- 39.5" 100 cm Height- 29.5" 75 cm Knee hole height- 24" 60 cm. Antique Art Deco 20s Waltham 8 Day 15J Watch Co. Double Dial Partners Desk Clock
A rare find from a clock collector's estate is this antique Waltham Watch Co. partners desk dual dial clock that is currently running. The chrome plated over brass clock case has a classic Art Deco styling and is the perfect size for your desk with easy to read large Arabic numerals on the dials. The clock was deigned using the same dials and hands on either side. With symmetrical case parts to give both sides of the clock the same appearance; in other words this clock has no"rear" side! There is an 8-day. Spring driven, 15 Jewel, time only watch/ clock movement that powers both sets of hands in unison. The clock is wound by the folding handled knob located on the bottom of the clock and the hands are set. In unison, by pulling out on the knob and turning it in either direction. The American movement is currently running; although ... morethis clock is being sold"AS IS" With no implied guarantee or warranty. The clock is gaining approximately 2-1/2 minutes per hour. The blued steel hands are inset with a light green luminous material; there is some light corrosion to the steel. Some discoloration to the luminous material and a very slight loss of the material on one of the hour hands at the section closest to the center post. The 3" dials are a matte silvered finish around the outside with a center'disc' area that appears as a brighter brushed finish. The numerals are light green luminous material outlined in black paint; the minute markers are black paint as is. WALTHAM, 15 JEWELS, 8 DAYS" The dials both have many areas of discoloration, light scratches and finger prints. The chrome finish has several scratches. Especially around the bezel areas(there is an area of these bezel scratches on one side of the clock that go down to the brass. It is between the 5 and 7 o'clock positions. Antique Early 1900's French Partners Desk - Very Ornate and Rare
Up for sale is what I believe to be an early 1900's vintage French Partner's Desk. All original(except for a refinish) Done in Country French/Art Nouveau style. The desk came with a one-page signed appraisal from May 10, 1982 showing a value of $7500.00. I had a current full appraisal report done on the piece(including a Certificate of Authenticity) on May 27th of this year which shows a fair market value of $3200.00 and an Insurance value of $3840.00. I was unhappy with some of that appraiser's findings and disagreed with some of her opinions, so I also brought the desk to"Antiques Roadshow" here in Albuquerque in July. Their"Expert Appraiser" had a much different opinion of the piece, but still valued it in the $3500.00 to $4000.00 range. Unfortunately, the Roadshow absolutely prohibits giving anything in ... morewriting, so the only proof of an appraisal or value given from them is if you get on TV(which I did not) I think you'll agree, however, that his opinions of the piece are much more likely than the opinions in the written report(read-on) Differences: Well. First off is a big one.The appraisal report I have states that the wood is Satin Walnut whereas the Expert from the Roadshow clearly stated the primary wood was mahogany. I'm no wood expert, but I can certainly take close-up pics and/or follow instructions to help you determine the wood type. Secondly, the appraisal report states that the original desk dates to the early mid 19th century(1800-1850 or so) and the Art Nouveau carvings as well as the"checkered" inlays on the top were added later. The Roadshow expert strongly disagreed with this stating that the entire desk dated from about 1910 and was all-original. Lastly(and what makes me most suspicious about the appraisal report) the appraiser thought that the inlays on the top were actually put there as chess boards. She even mentions in the report"Later Art Nouveau carvings were added to the desk as well as two chess boards on the top of the desk, and

Our client has had it in her family for many years but now needs the space so she's decided to sell it. We've seen similar desks referred to as"pedestal" double pedestal" knee hole" and/or"partners" It consists of three ... moreparts: the top portion and two side pedestals. Unlike some we have seen, this particular desk does not have leather on top. The drawers feature a lovely veneer and an early variety of dovetail contruction. The desk itself does not seem to be marked, but the locks are marked"Hobbs Machine Made Lever London. The desk has some scuffs and wear and several trim pieces are loose. The desk does not come with a key, but any locksmith should be able to find one that would work. Size 72" Wide x 38 1/4" Deep x 30 1/2" Wide I purchased this about 14 years ago in an Antique Shop on Atlantic ave in Brooklyn NY. It was fully restored at that time. I believe it came from a local college in Brooklyn as maybe a Professor's Desk. It's still in great condition. Perfect for a large office. Very well built. I paid around $800 at the time. Must sell.
