The desk is not only a lovely Western theme piece of furniture, it is extremely well made and solid. It measures approx 48" long. 30" tall, 20" tall- weighs approx 120 lbs- its a sturdy piece. The wood has a white wash type finish. The desk is in Very Good Original Condition- it has some light normal use wear as one would expect. Overall its in great shape. Being fussy and more exact, the writing surface top is in very good shape- a few very minor light scratches- two small bruises on the edge as noticed in my last pic. It did not oil or clean the desk and this alone would improve the already nice finish. The only real blemish or what have you, is an age split to the wood on the side with the drawers- this is not damage but a natural split from age- shown up close in pic 7. This is a heavy very well constructed piece of furniture which will serve for many many more years. You will not find a piece of furniture made like this in todays world without paying an arm and a leg. The desk has normal expected wear. Antique Oak Chautaugua Industrial Art Desk with Matching Bench School Learning
Antique oak Lewis and Myers school desk/learning center. Dated 1923 and manufactured in Valparaiso. Indiana. I also have the accompanying seat that completes this set. The top of the desk features an American Resources Map with area, population, mining, and manufacturing. From what I can tell the paper is cloth, somewhat distressed with a few minor stains. Top measures 21 1/2"X 17 1/4" Unopened height is 26 1/2" tall and stands on 2 adjustable legs that are adjusted by thumb screws. The desk also features a slide out drawer, desk top also slides rear-ward to reveal yet another desk top. The first top with map and sliding top is removable or locked in place with a sliding pin to lock in place. The Oak bench measures 15 1/4" in length by 7 1/2" in width, and is also adjustable in height styled exactly like the desk ... morewith thumb screw type adjustment. In the full up position it measures 14" full down position is approx. 10" in height. When the top is opened it reveals operating instructions for each child, shelf type compartments on both sides and a compartment in the center for writing materials I would guess. Atop the opened shelf area, or what would be the underside of the sliding desk top is cloth paper with the name"The Chautaugua Industrial Art Desk" a plan to promote the culture of work and play among children in the home" with a scenic lake front and boats in the backround. This cloth paper has various lessons which are printed on rollers. The first illustration is line drawings, various shapes and sizes.It is copyrighted 1913 by the Powers and Myers Co. The second illustration is of various animals, shadow style, blocks and circles, also shadow style. The third is a short illustration of the 3 bears story, an apple, hen on nest, pearl necklace, basket a woven rug and the procedure to complete. 1800's Northwind Georgian 1/4 sawn Oak Writing Desk/Table
This beautiful table is the original from which there have been several copies made. The table is finished with Lunette carved edges and inset scrolling acanthus carved border on the top. The desk is finished on all four sides with magnificently carved apron and beautifully carved North Wind Faces on the corners. The front of the desk has a large drawer which is dovetailed front and back. The large drawer is divided into three large sections. The table is set on wonderfully carved legs. Which taper down to acanthus carved blocks ending on bun foot on casters. The stretchers are finished in the same manner. The size is 50" wide x 33"deep x 30" high. The most recent copy sold here on E-bay for 2,995.0, and it's size was only 45" wide x 28"deep x30"high. I believe this table was made between 1740- 1840.The legs ... moreand stretchers are two pieces of wood doweled. And glued together, and then carved and doweled together, they were not turned on a lathe. This table is a one of a kind piece. It is massive, with heavy carvings, and has far more detail, and many more features than the copies. I am asking only 14,995.00 for this exquisite piece of history. Here is a really nice item in excellent condition for its age. The castors will need oiled. But do turn. The mirror is here but as you can see in the photo, it is cloudy. I did not try to mount it in the top. There is only one small wedge that holds the mirror on, and I will let it up to the buyer to fasten the mirror on. The door is missing. for auction is a wonderful solid quartersawn oak roll top desk. this desk has no veneers and the quartersawn oak flake is as good as i have ever seen or owned. an old man. Long dead, who dealt in many many roll top desk told me that if you had a desk with a 5 digit inventory number that is was made by stickley and brandt. at any rate i would stake a good bit on his opinion. the stamped in inventory no. on this desk is 18173. regardless of who made this desk, it is top quality material and workmanship. the desk is 50 inches tall with a s waterfall top with a tambur that rolls and moves with great ease, no stopping, catching, jamming, etc. it rolls like butter. the other dimensions are, it is 50 inches wide and 32 inches deep. the desk top is 30 inches from the floor. it has the original key cover plate and strike plate on the desk top writing ... moresurface. the old lock has lost it's guts so i replaced the lock. anyway the top will lock if you choose to do so. it has a wonderful set of cubbies, complete with two pencil holders, i forgot to open for pictures and one drawer with a carved pull. i expect there may have been another drawer on the other side that has fell by the wayside somewhere and time in the last 120 years. the remainder of the cubby holes are as they should be. they were never designed for drawers and the openings are a good bit smaller than the ones that would accept a drawer. it has 4 drawers of wonderful construction on the left bank of the cabinet portion, most of which contain dividers. the right bank consists of three drawers, the bottom is a double drawer suited for file folders, it has a divider long ways down the center. i also forgot to open the drawers for pictures. i have used the 12 pictures ebay allows, but if anyone want pictures of the inside of the drawers or anything else i will be glad to send them to you. the drawers all have carved pulls in mint condition. underneath the desk top are four scotch and secure blocks which slide into a groove about 1/2 inch below the top part of the

Very Rare Oak Acct Register File Desk, Grocery Country Store circa 1907
Pictured is a very rare quartersawn oak McCaskey account register from an old country grocery store. This is not nor was it ever part of a roll top desk. This is a unique item that was made specifically for a store owner to keep track of customers bills and invoices. When you open up the tambour inside are two glass doors that lift up to reveal a storage area for additional receipts. Pencils, notes, cash etc. Underneath the glass doors are the original cutsomer account sheet of people who had opened up accounts at the store and their amounts owed and customer numbers are recorded. You can see that a lot of names were crossed off when their accounts were paid offbut you can still clearly see all of the names on the sheets.On the reverse side of the one glass door is a delinquent bill sheet, all original. Behind the glass doors are metal folders ... morethat open up and customer bills and recipts were kept for each customer. The wood is all quartersawn oak having a very smooth finish and rich color. All panels are raised panel oak.the top opens up very easily and operates smoothly. This item is just so unusual and unique. The top is separate from the base and the top can easily be placed on a counter of your choice. It has a metal pedestal base that can adjust up and down with a metal adjustment wheel. And four spindle legs with wheels. The metal components have been painted black. The wheels have been replaced at some point in its life(see photos) It has solid oak arms, a wide solid wood seat, and a tall spindled back, with a solid quarter sawn oak top. Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Desk - Circa 1890's - Prime Quality - Many Compartments
The following is a modified version of the appraisal. Modified only to read clearly to an audience: American golden oak cylinder front desk. Circa 1890. Also, it appears to be quarter sawn oak, also referred to as tiger oak. Those are the lines in the wood that run across the grain. This is usually an indicator of a quality piece and is a desirable feature. It is unusual that it has the tilt writing surface which is adjustable for drawing. Drafting, or perhaps other purposes. Also very unusual to have the hidden compartments on each side of it. There is another hidden compartment in this desk) The condition is as good as it appears in the photos, with no significant damage or repairs, and it has an old or original finish, this desk is valuable. It is important to note that oak is currently out of favor. Due to the Economy and the uniqueness of San Diego's economy. While this is true, I want to emphasize, records do not indicate one with the added features of this desk. This appears to be better than most roll top desks out there. Antique Solid Oak Roll Top Desk circa 1895
Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. Dividers in the desk top insert can be removed for reconfiguration. I have keys for the 2 locks. This desk will dress up any room that it is put in. Antique Oak S Curve Roll Top Desk - Indianapolis Cabinet Co. Circa 1890's NR
NO RESERVE For Auction is this antique Oak"S" Curve Roll Top Desk. Single Pedestal. Made by the"Indianapolis Cabinet Co. Indianapolis, Ind. The lock on the desk top is dated 1884. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. Antique Oak Slant Top 2-Level Desk c. Late 1800's Lift Top 2 Drawers Green Felt
Antique oak slant top desk. Slant top section lifts on brass H-hinges from the top providing an excellent storage space beneath. Secondary wood is pine. The flat side area has been covered in green felt and has two small drawers. Drawers are framed with molding and have decorative wooden pulls and sturdy dovetail joints. Wide turned legs complete the Victorian-era look of the desk. This desk dates from the late 1800's. Overall. The desk is in very good condition. There is a little bit of sagging in the middle of the desk, where the two sides join, which has caused some of the wood to separate. See picture. There is also a perfectly round hole in the back of the flat section where another back piece may have been attached at some point. There is some wear to the feet, corners and surfaces, which is to be expected on a piece this age. It ... morelooks as if someone has filled in most of the nail holes with wood filler at some point.
