I assume ... morethey did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of a quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. Antique Oak desk circa 1930 from the European Revival Line by Lifetime Furniture
A masculine and substantial heavily carved solid oak desk. Paper stamp says"Lifetime Furniture" which is from the Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co. operated until 1956) 36 1/2" wide by 66 1/2" long and 31" tall. This desk has spent its life. Up until a month ago, in the St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, NY. which has closed down. St. Ignatius is a Tudor Revival Palace built by utilities and tabacco mogul, Nicholas Brady in the 20's. It was also called Inisfada, meaning Long Island in Gaelic. In 1937 it was donated to the Jesuits. As the photos will show. The doors across the drawers are missing and two of the feet have a small section missing. There are a lot of surface scratches and a couple deeper one on the top. The finish is worn off in many places. Solid Oak Clark's Spool Cabinet Desk
What a clever idea someone had. Take a completely refinished spool cabinet. That usually sat on a counter, and make a base for it, and now you have a desk. The condition is excellent. It has all the original knobs and hinges but the writing surface has been replaced. I have a solid oak stool that is a perfect height to make this piece usable as a desk. Antique Oak Editor's Desk, BARGAIN PRICED
I have for sale an antique. Oak, editor's desk made by the Imperial Desk Co. Evansville, Indiana. This desk really is very well built and heavy. It measures about 60" long x 32" deep x 30 1/2" high. It has a center pencil drawer and three drawers on the right side. The left side of the desk has three faux drawer fronts housing the spring loaded typewriter shelf which is about 19" x 18" with heavy duty springs for lifting up a typewriter, this shelf could also be used for a computer printer. I believe this desk was made in April 1947 as written on the inside(see photo) The drawers have strong dove tailed joints not found in most modern furniture. The finish on the desk is still in very nice condition. There are some small gouges on the top front edge, marks and light scratches on the top and front consistent with ... moreage and use. Here is a fabulous and rare find these days. a gorgeous Limbert's quartersawn oak desk. Made in the United States in the early 1900's and bearing the Limbert's Furniture burned in the wood mark as shown. According to Wikipedia's information on Limbert, Charles P. Limbert(1854-1923) was founder of the Limbert Furniture Company and a contemporary of Gustav Stickley. Although the two most likely didn't know each other. Stickley was more of a self-promoter while Limbert was content to let his furniture speak for itself) Limbert's quartersawn oak furniture is characteristic of the Arts and Crafts movement in America; some of it looks similar to that produced by other makers of the day. Many of the company's better pieces. However, are pleasingly unique, are solidly constructed and stand on their own merits. As far as ... morebiographical information they state Charles Limbert was born in Linesville. Pennsylvania in either 1854 or 1856. The son of cabinetmaker and furniture dealer Levi H. Limbert. After moving with his family in 1866 to Akron, Ohio, he later learned the furniture business in the 1870s at his father's store. As a young man in Akron the first business he tried on his own was in the carriage trade. After leaving his adopted hometown in the mid-1880s he moved west and began his career as a furniture salesman. Charles started making chairs in Grand Rapids. Michigan while continuing to distribute furniture made by others. Limbert established a factory in 1902 where he designed and built what he termed"Dutch Arts and Crafts"style furniture and light fixtures. In 1906 he opened a factory in Holland. Michigan. Which he regarded as a more healthy environment for his workers. Limbert continued to manage his company until 1922, when poor health prompted him to sell his share in the company. Mid Century Modern Desk Oak Vintage 1950's - 60's
Mid Century Desk Very good original condition. The finish is excellent and the drawers work very well. It is also very sturdy. The brass feet have some tarnish on them and the bottom panel has a split in one joint You can see this from the side view and under shot. This is a beautiful piece of furniture and classic mid century style that is not easy to find. It has good quality finish on it. Some finishes are very brittle from this age. But this one is great. In the photos from the left side of the desk it looks like the corners have big white wood showing through the finish, that is a glare. for auction is a very rare model signed grand rapids desk company roll top desk with a bookcase on top. i have a 20 years book with one identical to this listed in it. it was valued at 2800 osver 20 years ago. anyway. This is a wonderful desk, great quartersawn flake all thru all the boards. great construction and quite heavy for its size. it has too many features to mention, but hopefully the pictures will bring them out. the desk portion is 28 inches deep, 31 tall, and 40 inches wide. it has nicely form doors with great carving on the fronts, the one on the left opens to expose three small drawers, the one on the right opens to nicely scalloped dividers. the knee hole of the desk is rounder out at the back and is nicely paneled on either side. the roll top is 11 inches tall, 37 wide, and 25.25 deep and has a nice set of cubbies with a pull ... moreout drawer and pencil holders etc. the roll top rolls like butter and has the grand rapids desk company brass name plate over the lock of which i do not have a key. i have a key blank for it and can make a key if i get time. the top bookcase portion sits in a recess of the top of the roll top and is 37 inches wide, 10.75 deep, and 30.5 inches tall including the crown board. it retains the original wavy glass, lock, quartersawn oak fancy dividers for the top of the glass and has one shelf which can be adjusted to your liking as there are additional holes in both side of the cabinet to place the shelf holder pins. the entire unit is nicely paneled and finished all the way around so it can be placed anywhere in a room and will look nice, it is not necessary to place against a wall. the unit is three portion which come apart with ease. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. The original finish has charming wear and stains for antique character. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Two drawers have carved pulls on this American made antique furniture. Galleries left and right held books. There is an inkwell in a socket.
