But it will really always be"Grandpa's writing desk" Unfortunately my seller is downsizing their home and grandpa's desk needs to find a new place to go. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. You can see it in the photos. The interior is plain with no shelves, drawers or cubbies. The information that I received from the appraisal company is as follows: The drop front oak(not quarter-sawn oak) writing desk is a Mission style Arts and Crafts desk; there is a keyhole in the top of the fall front and a small gallery or backplate on the top back of the desk. There is an"H" stretcher in the middle bottom of the desk and a vertical"X" stretcher on each bottom side of the desk; the legs are quadrant legs; there is one drawer with round brass pulls beneath the fall front. I would date the desk C. 1900-1915; the value would be between $625.00 and $700.00 in today's retail market. Due to the size of this item it will not be available for shipping. Hinges, Hardware ~ Circa 1890-1900 Unit Measures 50” x 43 ½” x 26” ~ Stored in Smoke-Free Home This is a once-restored antique oak roll-top watchmaker’s or jeweler’s bench from between the 1890’s or 1900 or so. It is in very good condition and shows normal wear and tear for it’s age—over a decade—100 plus years. As shown in the photos. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. All original drawer pulls, hooks, hinges, hardware, and the canvas catch are intact and fully functioning. The roll-top piece ... moreworks well, rolls easily, and engages a set of drawer locks when closed. We do not have a key. The unit measures 50” H x 43 ½” W x 26” D. Workbench height is 39” from the ground. All wood is solid oak. This bench has a tambour shaped roll-top that completely covers the work area when closed. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. This antique roll-top jeweler’s bench does not include the original watchmaker’s lathe. Driving pulleys, treadle, or other related machinery. I originally purchased this beautiful piece in Pennsylvania over thirty years ago. It may or may not be a J.H. Rosberg Manufacturing Company make from Chicago. Illinois. ANTIQUE MISSION OAK BEDROOM DESK This desk is of the type used in bedrooms during the turn of the century due to the small size of most rooms during the early America years. In addition to being used as a desk they were also used as secretaries. Sewing tables and also doubled as a night stand. This desk measures 47 1/2" in length in the unfolded position. 23 1/2" folded x 23" deep x 25 1/2" high. The folding legs are turned and have wooden casters, and the drawers are made with dove tail joints. This is a very sturdy desk which I have been using for the past six years as my computer desk. There are a few blemishes which can be seen in the photo's which can be best described as scratches and a few heat scorch marks which may have been from an iron. You are bidding on a very beautiful solid oak drop front ladies writing desk that reminds me of a very fancy Larkin Style Desk. There is a mohogany desk similar to this one with all the heavy brass detailing. It is made by the Paine Company. I believe it says on their label. My desk has the original golden oak finish. It is in very good condition for its age, minor wear& tear. All the brass decoration is original. There is lots of hand carving and also applied carvings. It has a book shelf at the bottom. A beautiful antique roll top desk in great condition for the age. This desk measures 48.25" high at the back center. It has a width of 49.5" and a depth of 31.5" The kneehole height is 27.25" to the bottom of the cross board and the width is 29" The bottom section of the desk has four small drawers on the right side with a pullout writing surface above it. The right side has two small drawers above a larger file drawer. The divider board in this drawer is broken. There is also a pullout writing surface abov this bank of drawers. Only one of the other six drawers has a divider section in it. The remaining pieces are missing. There is a locking mechanism on the bottom section. It is a little sticky. All of the drawers have decorative fan style handles made from wood. The top section has various sized cubbies and only ... moreone drawer. There are two pencil trays that hang at the center and the section above these trays pulls out to reveal hidden trays as well. The roll top on this is in great condition and slides up and down smoothly. This section also locks with the original key. There is a vintage metal pencil sharpener attached to the top right side of this. There are age and use appropriate imperfections. Scratches, dings, and dents on this that enhance the character. There is what appears to be an inkk stain on the top and there is also some stains in the drawers. There is also age darkening to the wood. Base is case iron. All parts are original aside from the cord being replaced at some point so the lamp could continue to be used. Brass has what I believe to be the original liquor on it that has oxidized over time giving it a deep brown hue. The off white paint that highlights the leaf stamping is original and is rare to fine intact as on this lamp. There may be a light coat of newer liquor to even the sheen out. It is in very good condition except in a couple spots where a marker was used and in the back where a hole was made for wires or cables. you will not find a better quality high end antique secretary desk for sale anywhere. i will tell you why. this piece. Maker i do not know, quality of horner but is not likely his work, is as well constructed and remains in that condition after 120 years of service. there are no loose or wobbly screws or holes. the hardware is all original and perfect. it has all original locks that are all tight and just like the day they were installed. it has the original keys and all the locks lock and work perfectly. when the door is shut there is not crack or room between the door and frame large enough to allow a razor blade to slide into. the same way with the drawers, drop front and top drawer which is spectacular and boast a serpentine curve. this piece is as solid and tight as any i have ever owned and the correctness and tightness would lead one ... moreto believe it was made yesterday. not really, they do not make stuff in this day and time that remotely compares to antique furniture. most secretary desks, there are some gaps in the bookcase door, usually wobbly hinges, drop front loose, drawers flopping here and there. you can shut most of them up but they have issues. anyway, construction is perfect, solid, quality material, and workmanship. who ever made it was a triple A firm. on the back there is a paper label that has spaces for the no. of the item, the finish, who did the cabinet work, filling, rubbing, polishing, trimming, and packing. these areas have been penciled in, but the wording has faded beyond ascertainment. there is also a label that has willick bros, muncating? somewhere. can't make that out either. the piece also has incised inventory numbers in the boards feature only used by the highest quality furniture makers. it also has stamped inventory nos. here and there. are you bored yet? now for the piece itself. so well done. pierced carved,very very well done griffins on each corner of the top crest. great solid tight sconce in the center held up by a wonderful turned column, all fitting perfectly and as

for sale is a very large and useful piece of antique furniture. this is a double secretary bookcase side by side desk. it has many wonderful features including galleries. Carvings, doors, drawers, drop front writing surface, a bank of cubbies, beveled center mirror just to mention a few. note the outside column of the door frame is part of the door and moves as the door moves. it has 4 shelves on each side. i have one out to allow a large porcelain romeo and juliet statue to sit. it has a lot of storage for whatever, i put porcelain in most of my pieces, but it would hold a bunch of books also. it is in near mint condition structure wise. it is quite heavy and is in three pieces which i have pictured. i had to move it out of a down stairs room i am converting to a bedroom. i have gotten too old or too lazy to climb the steps. at any rate, ... morei unloaded it and moved it to another room that really is not a good fit for it at all so i am going to try to sell it. the three sections go together and are held in place by dowels. you then attach screws from the inside of either outside cabinet to secure it to the center section. primarily the screws are just to keep the dowels from pulling out of the piece they slip into. it is large and heavy, it a bit over 62 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 73 inches tall. it has a tyler desk or tyler cabinet co. st. louis, mo. paper label on it when i bought it about 8 years ago. the label was barely hanging on so i took it off and kept it. at this junction however, i do not know what i did with it. i know i have it but have not looked at the right spot yet. i paid 42000 for it like nearly 8 years ago, could have been longer. ihave several pieces displaced and need to dispose of them so i am starting this great piece at 1000 less than i paid. if you note the joints in drawer i pictured you can see they are dowel joints, so i expect it was made prior to 1890, after that time they did factory dovetail. pictures are bad and sorry about the dusk, didn't get the top wiped off i see. it m

One of a kind tramp desk made by marrying two mismatched pieces. Most likely dates from 19th century. Woods used look like pine and oak. Constructed using a combination of woodens pegs. Slotted and round-head screws. Lots of storage space, including 10 pigeon holes and two sections with hinged tops. Turned front legs with tapered square legs in back. Beautiful Antique Solid Oak Writing Desk Mission Arts & Crafts Style LOCAL P.U.
Up for your consideration is a beautiful antique oak writing desk. It is in the Mission or Arts and Crafts design. We have had this for y ears in our home. It is quite sturdy. The measurem e nts are 26" deep x 38" wi de x 29 3/4" tall. The front drops down and in side is a writing platform w ith an inkwell hole. Pencil rest, and cubbies in t he back for en v elopes. Etc. To the right is a drawer which actually comes completely out. The hinges have been replaced on this front piece as well as t he glass kno bs. There is an old keyhole and the lock seems to still be intact. However we do not have a key. My husband had his computer on this desk and be cause the underside of the des k is open. He was able to keep the keyboard on the pull-out platform, and the wires fit right throu gh. The wood is oak and is in beautiful condition ... morefor being old. It has it's nicks and scratches as woul d be ex pected with age. The in kwell hol e is almost black w h ich has always made me wonder i f someone spilled ink in it once upon a time. Any questions. Oak Roll Top Office Desk by Northwestern Furniture Company. Milwaukee, WI: I'm not sure what era this comes from. But it appears to be older. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. For transport, or ease of moving into a room/space, the top rolltop assembly can be removed from the desk. The flat desk surface board can also be removed, if needed as can the footboard resultin
