Condition: Used Location: Downingtown, United States This is a beautifully handcrafted Antique English Writing Slope or Travel Desk. It measures 16" by 9" by 4 1/2" The exotic wood veneer(possibly ... moremahogany) has a very dramatic and variable grain that ranges from amber to black. The exquisite top features a radiant Mother of Pearl Cartouche( 2" by 1" with no engravings or markings) It has eight Mother of Pearl Discs that are positioned near the corners. The discs are connected by pewter'stringing lines' to form two rectangles on the top. I believe that the two shortest pewter'stringing lines' on the ends of the inner rectangle may be replacement pieces. There are also four Mother of Pearl discs on the front of the box. Connected by pewter'stringing lines' These also form a rectangle. The escutcheon has an inlay that is a bone color. But does not appear to be Mother of Pearl. The top opens to reveal a green velvet fabric-covered writing slope which appears to be original. There are five separate compartments for ink wells. Nibs, wax, stamps etc. There is also a removable concave pen tray with storage space beneath it. The green velvet-covered'top partition' pulls down with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. The storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 7 1/4" For stationary. The green velvet-covered'bottom partition' pulls open with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. This storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 5" For letters. The hinges and fittings are brass and there is a flush brass handle on each end of the box. There is a small chip in the veneer on the left front corner(photo#3) There is a 1/2" segment of the pewter'stringing line' that is missing in the same area. There are some cracks in the veneer on the top. The left side of the top and the front. There are cracks in the interior linings of the box. But it will really always be"Grandpa's writing desk" Unfortunately my seller is downsizing their home and grandpa's desk needs to find a new place to go. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. You can see it in the photos. The interior is plain with no shelves, drawers or cubbies. The information that I received from the appraisal company is as follows: The drop front oak(not quarter-sawn oak) writing desk is a Mission style Arts and Crafts desk; there is a keyhole in the top of the fall front and a small gallery or backplate on the top back of the desk. There is an"H" stretcher in the middle bottom of the desk and a vertical"X" stretcher on each bottom side of the desk; the legs are quadrant legs; there is one drawer with round brass pulls beneath the fall front. I would date the desk C. 1900-1915; the value would be between $625.00 and $700.00 in today's retail market. Due to the size of this item it will not be available for shipping. A nice quality oak desk stand It has a drawer at the base with a brass handle. Up for auction is an authentic L& JG Stickley desk. 613 with a good original finish. This is a beautifully constructed desk with through tenons, figured quartersawn oak and a nice original finish. The desk has not been refinished or otherwise messed with, and I have not even waxed it, so NO briwax, pledge, paste wax, orange oil, Old English, etc. has touched this desk. If you buy it and want me to wax it, I will, but I wanted the future owner to have the option of an unmolested finish. The desk is in very good condition. But still has some damage commensurate with age and use. After a very thorough going over, I have found and/or photographed the following: Loss of finish on the top from a spill and drink ring. That should not show after a good waxing. A small chip on the lower right side of the drawer. A medium-sized chip to the top ... moreleft of the desk drop front and top corner of the desk. A blue stain from writing on the interior of the desk. A long crack on the right side panel of the desk. It also looks like the front of the desk was snapped apart some years back and re-glued using hide glue. The only evidence is a missing screw on the right side of the hinge. And some projection of the interior wood on the dropfront panel. Some tiny flecks of paint and/or finish loss where flecks have been removed. Note: I have been as careful as possible in my description. But please look carefully at all photos and make your own assessment. Hinges, Hardware ~ Circa 1890-1900 Unit Measures 50” x 43 ½” x 26” ~ Stored in Smoke-Free Home This is a once-restored antique oak roll-top watchmaker’s or jeweler’s bench from between the 1890’s or 1900 or so. It is in very good condition and shows normal wear and tear for it’s age—over a decade—100 plus years. As shown in the photos. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. All original drawer pulls, hooks, hinges, hardware, and the canvas catch are intact and ... morefully functioning. The roll-top piece works well, rolls easily, and engages a set of drawer locks when closed. We do not have a key. The unit measures 50” H x 43 ½” W x 26” D. Workbench height is 39” from the ground. All wood is solid oak. This bench has a tambour shaped roll-top that completely covers the work area when closed. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. This antique roll-top jeweler’s bench does not include the original watchmaker’s lathe. Driving pulleys, treadle, or other related machinery. My research shows this item to be 1890-1910 but I may be off by a bit since this item is difficult to find. Also the date can be changed by rolling the knob at the side. Quite a unique item! Item description: I am asking 750.00 but will discuss any reasonable offer for this beautiful quarter sawn oak roll top desk made by Dorsey Company~Dallas/Houston. I am pretty sure this desk was made sometime between 1900- 1940s. It measures in INCHES: 42 3/4 tall. 33 3/4 front to back, 60 wide, 22 1/4 knee hole opening, 12 3/4 cubby height. It is in wonderful vintage condition. Roll top and all 7 larger drawers work wonderfully. It has 2 pull out writing surfaces and many cubbys and smaller drawers. There is no lock on the center drawer and no key to the roll top but this is still a really nice desk. After purchase, I can deliver the desk within a reasonable distance for a fee. Up for auction today is a vintage 1982 replica oak desk. This is from the Smithsonian Institution. Made to resemble Abraham Lincoln's oak desk. It is in very good used condition and comes with a nice group of paperwork. Brand: Smithsonian Institution Measurements: 27" deep. 36" wide, 30" tall at the front and 32" tall at the back. The back measurement goes to the desk top and does not include the height of the back detail piece. Condition: The condition is very good. There are no major chips or cracks. There are signs of wear. Scuffs, and it could use a good cleaning with something like alcohol or furniture cleaner. It was in active use until 6 months ago. Features: This is a nice solid oak desk. 18th Century Georgian Country Oak banded with Mahogany English 1750-1760 Slant Top Secretary AUTHENTIC! not a Repoduction! Country of Orgin: England. Purchased in 1988 while living in the UK at Antique Dealer in Great Missenden, Buckenhamshire. Have reciept and document of authenticy. AGE: circa 1750- 1760 Georgian Maker: British(could be England. Wales, or Scottland) Style: Slant Front/ Bureau style with three over three large drawers. Unlike other slant ront desks of this era the writting/ front drops down and rests on outside drawers. It does not have pull out blade rails that support the writting surface the pulled out top drawers accomplish that. It has a fitted writting surface of genuine leather( this was a refurbishment some time in the mid 1980's) There are small drawers and cubby holes within and even secret compartments. All ... morebrass hardware is intact however one drawer handle is loose. Bonus hidden cartonnier featuring a well. The cavity beneath a sliding panel, directly behind the writting surface behind the closed doors. Another hidden drawer is behind the closed doors as well. Bracket feet are solid and level. Lock: yet no key Dimensions: height 45" width 37 3/8" depth 19 7/8" Condition: This Country Secretary was built as/ and designed to be a utilitarian Country piece of furniture it is not a highly polished. Unused Hepplewith museum piece. It could use a good cleaning and some very minor restorations. It has miscellanous mars, dings, scratches, wear, shrinkage and separation due to age and use but it all adds to the rich patina of age. It does need a small amount of repair to the mahogany banding on the left front. I don't think this secretary has ever been fully restored. It was a real workhorse at a working country manor house/ estate. Definatly shows some patching and mending from the many years of it's long life. Vintage/Antique Oak Office Desk Chair Vintage Office Chair I picked up this Neat Vintage Office Chair at an estate sale outside of Dallas. Texas. This listing is for a vintage oak office chair. I have two as shown but this listing is for just one of them. The joints have metal brackets as shown. I have not tried to take them off but they both need some TLC. Also.On one of them two of the castors come off if you lift up the chair but I'm sure this is an easy fix. It looks like they were adjustable at one time but someone put brackets on the bottom to keep it from adjusting. I took quite a few pictures to show any damage and the brackets. The one on the left also has brackets on the base but the one on the right does not. They do however still swivel. We believe that the oak table top is much earlier.we think that this piece might be a marriage. yes, we think that it was put together at some point and time.However, we do believe that the pieces were made for the purpose of securing the typewriter just became a marriage at some point. There are holes at the bottom of this oak top indicating that something was infect mounted to this board, perhaps a typewriter? The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful ... morehome. Notice the beautiful quartered sawed oak grain through out the piece and the deep heavy ornate carvings and bead work. What a great piece of furniture. It doesn't get any better than this! The ladies desk is made of quartered sawed oak through out and carved on the front slant drop down lid and top beveled mirror. The desk was found in this clean Golden Oak finish and probably was refinished about 10 to 20 years ago. It appears that it was painted red at one time as there is red residue left on the inside of the drawers but not much. The desk has a beautiful Golden Oak finish and can be proudly used in your home. There is a small repair above the right inside hinge inside the desk with oak colored wood filler to cover old screw holes it appears but ... morenot very noticeable at not at all from the outside only on the interior. The pigeon hole interior is original with two small drawers with a locking drawer on the right side. The main drawer is completely dovetailed as well. It has the original beveled mirror and all other parts as the desk is in original condition besides it being refinished. The desk is 49 3/4" or 4 ft. 1 3/4" tall. 28 1/4" wide x 13"deep for the writing surface, 15 7/8" x 26 5/8" inside pigeon hole area, 28 5/8" x 9 3/8" for the mirror frame, 9 1/4" x 29 1/2" for the top shelf area, and 21 3/8" leg room up to the bottom of the drawer. The writing surface drop down lid measures 29 1/2" x 13 7/8" The pigeon hole interior is 14" deep x 27 3/4" wide x 12" high. There is 23 1/4" leg room underneath the bottom drawer. This is a beautiful oak antique secretary desk with a fold down front and cubby holes with a small drawer inside and a larger drawer underneath with glass drawer pulls/handles. This is 41" tall. 29" wide and 17" deep. The oval mirror has a date of September 20, 1917 stamped on the back. Rare, Left Handed Oak School Desk
Very rare. Left handed, solid oak school desk(writing surface is maple) from the early 1900's. I completely dis-assembled it, re-glued it, sanded, stained and sprayed it with two coats of satin polyurethane. Book storage racks underneath the seat. I sat in this kind of desk back in the early 40's but none of the ones in any of my classes were left handed. I just had to have it and if any of your children are left handed, you have to have it too.

The desk has two large filing drawers on base of each bank. 4 drawers. 2 pull out lap boards, 2 brass inserts on each side, for sliding small paper work in, 14 pull out bins,in the upper pigeon hole area, 2 small side drawers for paper clips.Comes apart into 2 banks of drawers, top of desk. Here is the best SOLID OAK antique American roll top desk I have seen in many years. It was recently purchased from a local estate of a woman who had been in the antique business since the 1960's. I remember visiting her shop which was super interesting with lots of nooks and crannies filled with beautiful and out of the ordinary mostly American antiques. This desk was purchased in 1969 by a man who ended up as her husband and it remained in their family until now. Apparently. As the story goes, he was a student then and could not afford to buy the desk so he worked it off by doing odd jobs and helping around the shop. Everything is original from the finish to the locking system for the drawers and lock set and sliding locking mechanism for the top to the castors to the drawer slides to the fabric on the tambour door to the hardware and ... moredrawer pulls. There are four drawers with the shell carved handles on one side and three drawers and four handles on the other side as the bottom drawer is the double door. There is also a"secret" drawer under the side with the four drawers. If interested in a photo of this. Then just let me know. Looks as if it was added after.but a hiding place. It has all of the striking features of a top of the line roll top desk or curtain desks as they were called back in the day. This desk is top quality solid quartersawn oak with beautiful woodgrain patterns and patina and may possibly be a Stickley Brandt based on photos of their desks which were being produced in the late 1800's from the book"Furniture Made in America by E& R Dubrow" It is very similar to their top of the line model with the shell carved handles and quartersawn oak paneled sides and rear. The fitted interior is fabulous with lots of drawers with the original small wooden knobs. A few of knobs are are chipped but all drawers and pulls are present and original which is very difficult to find!
