This is a very fine quartersawn oak fancy executive style flat top desk. Totally restored with a smooth and even finish and new leather top-all expertly done. Note the pretty carvings on either side and the raised panels on each of the drawers. Sides, and back. Key which operates all of the locks properly. Fancy original brass pulls and finished interior of the drawers. Note the fitted interior behind the door on the right side. Also, very unusual writing surface on the top of each top drawer-piece is hinged to allow access to the drawer contents. Crafted of solid quarter sawn oak about 1900. A side by side secretary desk and bookcase has an original beveled mirror and glass in the bookcase door. The deep finish has warm antique patina. The lock and key in lower door doesn't work. The key is a handle only. There is some silver loss on the back of mirror but mirror could be easy replaced. Inside the drop front desk are tiny cubicles and a drawer for papers. Bookshelves are adjustable on this American made furniture. Brass hardware is original. Arts and Crafts style desk or library table is in excellent condition. I have owned it since the late 1980's and have not altered the finish. Although it may have been refinished prior to my ownership. This desk is very sturdy. The dimensions are 47 3/4" long X 28" deep X 30 1/4" high. Nice copper hardware is complete and original. The drawers at each side open out at a slant and though I'm not sure what was the original use for them. They just happen to be the perfect size for CD's/DVD's for your computer software! There are two drawers in the middle. The lower of these is a regular drawer, but the upper drawer has a writing surface that tilts up with hidden storage space beneath it. The writing surface also has a circular ink well opening. This desk is constructed of quarter-sawn oak. I think the bottoms of ... morethe drawers have been replaced with wood other than oak. A superb original 1930s art deco nautical themed book trough/book rack measuring 14.5 inches long by 9.25 inches wide(foot width) and 8.25 inches high. The book trough has rounded ends made from oak with lovely inlaid cloudburst in satinwood with a galleon and crashing waves in relief in various woods and veneers. The shaped feet are in oak with a plain oak frieze to the front and raised oak edge to the back. There is a polished steel base with further polished steel stretcher to the rear. The trough has been used and does show some surface marks and scratches and some small additional pins for support have been added over time. Some marks and scratches to the steel in places. This all wood Sit-Rite chair has great charm and warmth. The surface is worn smooth and has a nice patina of age. The bottom of the seat is stamped"SIT-RITE EDWARD L. KOENIG MFG. CHICAGO. ILL" in green ink. There are bolts for adjusting the back protrusion, back height, and seat height. The seat can be adjusted between 17 1/4 in. 27 1/4 in. in 1 in. increments. The chair has a 13 ¼ in. x 15 3/4 in. foot print. There is an old crack on the right side of the seat that was repaired with glue and a mending plate. It shows no weakening and does not affect the integrity of the stool. There are 4 small ¼” diameter shallow holes and some imperfection in the wood. The folding Desk can be hung on wall or set onto table, closed it measures 19" x 22" x 2.75" The back has part of a Resource Map, green chalkboard, shelves and a scrolling teaching instruction lessons dating from the late 1890's. This scroll includes many different things from penmanship, shapes, animals, drawing, music, and more, 24 lessons in all. The beginning of the scroll reads"A plan to promote the culture of work and play among children in the home" I did scroll thru all the lessons and saw only 3 minor tears, still bright and vivid illustrations. Early 1900's Solid Oak Jailer's / Watchmen's Desk. Very Cool
900- 1920's Solid oak desk. VGC, Very cool- This is an amazing old desk. It is solid Quarter Sawn Oak. It has been lovingly restored and is in fantastic shape. The dimensions are;40" wide x 35" deep x 30.5" tall The lower shelf gluides up as the top rolls back. This was for equipment like a typewriter. Adding machine, or dictaphone. The"action" of the roll top is very smooth and balanced. It is very sturdy and all the wood is solid. No veneer or plywood anywhere. I have appraisal and evaluation documentation from Wilcox and Hall appraisers. As for shipping. We will have to work out what's fair. I'll need $50 to crate it and I think freight charges will be under $200 not sure. You can pick it up here in Colorado though I will be going to Okla, Texas and Tenn this summer If you would like to meet me somewhere ... moreout there! I will consider offers.
