Additional storage is found below the desk area consisting of an area with a ornate door measuring 20" x 14 1\2" deep. The drawer below this storage area measures 2" x 14 1\2" deep x 5" High. To the left of the desk is a tall shelf area with four adjustable shelves for storage or acting as a bookcase again having fine ornate wood carving over the glass door front. The ornate carvings on the front of the fold-down desk and upper glass door appear Victorian. Work is needed for refinishing this piece to bring it back to its original beauty. Some wooden back pieces shown in front. Need to be fixed to the back of the desk area and one more missing piece to make the back complete. Overall measurements: 63 ½” high 42 3\4" Wide 14 ½” deep The carved decorative top piece laying in front is shaped to hold a mirror which fits between the pieces and sits on the top of the desk area. It's very solid& quite attractive despite is custom huumm paint job. It looks like pretty OAK underneath. Just needs some elbow grease to bring it back out. It needs work but it's not all hammered up, doesn't look like it's been abused(except for paint) I have no keys to it, unknown if locks work properly. Here is a fantastic original Georgian circa late 1700's English solid oak desk with gorgeous figured mahogany. The mahogany would have probably been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when figured mahogany veneer became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. The top drawer is a false drawer and then the 2 over 3 drawers are all graduated. All of the drawers inside and out are hand dovetailed as shown. The hardware is a later addition.possibly and most probably changed if and when the figured mahogany veneer ... morewas added in the very early 1800's. The desk is supported by a bracket foot base. Gorgeous Antique Maddox Governor Winthrop Drop Front Desk
This beautiful antique desk is is great condition. It was made by the Maddox company(see the picture with the company stamp in the drawer) The drawers all slide nicely and the detailing on the inside is perfect. The drop down lid opens to reveal a beautiful multi-drawer cubbyhole interior with a carved door and two cleverly disguised hidden compartments behind the multi-turned spindles. There is also a horizontal space beneath the cubbies perfect for sliding paper or books out of the way. There are four serpentine dovetail drawers and the base has multi-ply molding and four ball and claw feet(which I believe are in the Chippendale style) Original hardware. I try to include as many pictures as possible to give a good idea of the condition. I think it's beautiful as is but if the few small imperfections bother you the quality of this piece ... moremakes it a good contender for refinishing. Approx. 35" wide 20" deep and 40" tall. A very fine Adam Georgian style drop front desk by the Johnson Furnture Co. Circa 1950's? The box case has satinwood veneers, the drop front with hand painted enamel classical urn with flowers. The interior has an olive green enamel cubbyhole with two drawers, the writing frame has satinwood veneer, and green leather pad. There is a drawer with maple knobs. The tapered square legs and skirt are maple. It measures 38-1/2" tall by 26-3/4" wide by 16-1/4" deep, the drop front down is 27" from the floor. The pad is 21-1/4" by 7-1/2" Includes the lock and key. Excellent condition: all solids and veneers without chips or cracks, original finish not scratched, no ring spots. The urn and flowers is without wear. The interior is equally fine.

Beautiful signed Gustav Stickley Drop Front Desk from 1905-1912. The desk is made of quarter sawn oak with an excellent original finish. The piece has excellent. Bulky form with 3 drawers under the drop front and many interior dividers for papers. It sits on original casters and features excellent hammered iron pulls with their original patina. The piece is sturdy and strong. It is signed with an early red decal inside one drawer and has the remnants of a paper label on the back. This is a very nice piece and would look very nice in a craftsman style home or make a very nice decorative piece. There is a moisture ring on the top and the ink stain on inside of the drop front that do not detract from the beauty but show its age, character, and use throughout the years. Some of the oak pieces are stamped with numbers, I've talked to experts ... morein the field and they tell me it was common for Gustav Stickley to number the wood pieces to simplify the construction process. I've included a picture of one of these stamped numbers. All the stampings are in inconspicuous places, such as underneath the bottom lip of the drawers. Please see the pictures for more details. Antique Coromandel Wood Drop Front Inlaid Writing Cabinet 19th Box c1820 RARE
This rare and exquisite writing cabinet is made from coromandel wood that originates in India. On the lower portion of the piece there is a large drawer which has an outer metal inlay which is probably brass. Behind the doors is another drawer and a drop front writing surface. The doors and trim are intricately hand carved and inlaid with ox bone. The knobs are ox bone as well. The inside of the doors and writing slope are lined with fabric. There is a shelf behind the drop front door on the inside. There are hand made nails on the bottom and sides. The drawers are made with dove-tail construction. The cabinet is quite heavy weighing 16 lbs 6 ounces. The is 15 ½ inches tall and 14 5/8 inches wide and 7 ½ inches deep. We date this to the early 19 th century. Circa 1820. There are cracks as can be expected with a piece this age. The ... morefront doors both have cracks in them. With the one on the left being larger. There are two of the decorative ox bone pegs missing, one from each side. Incredibly we do not note any of the inlay, brass or ox bone missing. The fastener on the inside of the left door does not function. There is a piece of trim that has been repaired on the right front door. One of the pegs to open the drop front door is missing. The fabric on the inside of the drop front door has a split in it where the sections of the door connect. There is wear to the other fabric. Please see the pictures. Very elegant piece is sure to be a favourite. It is a vintage French secretaire bureau. With a combination bookcase to the top and generous dropfront desk. The piece is of oak construction. With the most wonderful wavefront to the drawers and delightful carving. Hand-selected on a recent buying trip to Europe, the piece is definitely vintage, ... moredating to around 1930. This gorgeous piece features three distinct sections.The top is a narrow bookcase. With two glass doors with applied mouldings to the outside. Internally, there are three fully adjustable shelves. The top section measures approximately 107cm high and just 23cm deep. Beneath the bookcase section is a large drop-front bureau or secretaire desk. Which has a fitted interior. The desk, when opened out is an impressive 83cm deep, which gives significant workspace. The door of the dropdown desk has beautiful carving, and sits on two pull-out slides for support when in use. The bureau sits on a base with two wavefront drawers. Each drawer beautifully finished with carving. The piece stands on elegant cabriole legs. The base section with drawers measures approximately 93cm high. The overall height of the entire piece is 200cm. It is 94cm wide at its widest point. Though clearly vintage. This very pretty secretaire bureau is in beautiful vintage condition. There are no condition issues to mention. As with all antique and vintage furniture.
