Crafted with entirely solid mahogany primary woods chosen for their brilliant grain displays. Both table top surfaces are full planks of mahogany, deeply patinated with wonderful oxidization dancing beneath the warm glowing and quite early finish, lifting on hand forged hinges with original screws. A single drawer slides easily in and out of the frame, hand dovetailed front and back with what appears to be the original pierced brass hardware, all framed inside of cockbead molding that surrounds the drawer. The table rests over square marlboro legs, chamfered on the interior corner to lighten the overall appearance of the legs, these terminating in molded feet. The back leg swings over a knuckle joint on a very thick and heavy oak gate leg, appearing to be red oak, pinned to the leg with double pegs locking the tenon-mortise joint. Double pegs are also visible at both corners of the back of the table, and when the leg opens it reveals the clean dovetailed frame, these quite distinctive and perfectly matching the drawer. This is a wonderful find for the serious collector of Pennsylvania furniture. As well as the decorator looking for a highly versatile and absolutely gorgeous functional work of art. Working for any number of design settings, as a serving table in the dining room, a hallway table with a chair on either side, as a small desk in the library or as a functional card table, this piece is incredibly sturdy and is meant to be used. With a deep and glowing patina in the well preserved finish, stunning full boards of mahogany and the elegance highlighted in the fretwork and chamfered molded legs, this is a very fine piece for any formal home. And the word“LYON” embossed onto the drawer ... moreassembly. The finish is a mix of light green paint. And patches of dark green paint, and a fair amount of rust spots throughout. The drawer assembly is grey. The wooden top is a butcher block style. Some of the pieces of wood on the top are slightly warped or uneven, and as you can see in the photos, the finish and patina of the wood top is very patchy and has various shades of wood colors. The right end of the wood top is a lighter shade than the rest of the top– it was sitting outside with another table covering most of it except the area on the right, and is a bit faded. The entire top could be sanded and refinished, but I’ve left it original. It measures approximately 72.5” x 35” and is 34” high. This sale is for pickup only from my home in Marietta. GA 30064. This antique table came out of an old warehouse. I believe it was used in a early newspaper office. The manufacture is Western Electric. I did some research and found no other desk or drafting tables that compares to this unrestored pc. I think it had been stored for years and has a great patina consistent with the age and use. The wood has ink stains, small surface scratches, all marks are minor please examine photos closely. I'm sure it will clean up beautifully and will add class and charm to any home, office, or museum. ANTIQUE ART DECO c1926 AGED STEEL BRASS LEG LIBRARY OFFICE DESK TABLE ONE DRAWER
We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. It is 29.75" wide and 24" deep(front to back) It has a knee space height of 24" The drawer is 17" wide. 13" front to back and 1.5" tall(interior space measurements) THE DESK IS EXTREMELY HEAVY. The desk has wooden buttons which cover the screws/nails. It is in very good antique condition. There is a very slight bow on the top which is neither severe or distracting. There are some minor nicks and dings from use, but again, nothing too obvious or distracting. Fabulous Charles Limbert Quartersawn Oak Library Table. I believe the finish is original as well as the hardware(obviously screws& washers have been replaced) This is not a claim I make lightly. Please see pics! Burned Limbert Arts& Crafts stamp on inside of drawer on the left. Measures 42” wide x 30” deep x 29 1/2” height. Condition: Pretty amazing. No cracks anywhere. It's a very solid. Sturdy, handsome construction. Flaws: On the top of the desk there is a spot on the right that is darker(see pic#9) where it looks like someone probably sat an ink bottle then tried to remove a bit of ink. It looks like it's been there for a very long time. It's not an eyesore but needs to be pointed out. There is also a very small gouge or nick on the right side(see pic#12) On the left leg there is a strange"mystery" spot(flat) ... morewith a tiny spot of paint next to it(see pic#10) Lastly. On the back edge of the top you see a little paint where someone put it up against a wall when there was wet paint(see pic#11) The inside drawer does have ink stains. If you'd like a pic I can certainly send it. Pic#6 is a close-up of the finish on the drawer(outside) to help uphold my claims of it being the original finish. I'm really just trying to point out anything I see as a flaw no matter how small. I've made no attempt to oil it or clean it with any chemicals. The piece has in total 4 drawers on the front and one door, while inside the door are two additional drawers, for additional storage. The door itself is decorated with gorgeous floral motifs. The writting area is right above the door, which slides out to show beautiful inlay. Bottom of the piece has features four slightly curved legs, the front two featuring bronze sabots. Between the legs, on the top is the only outside drawer, framed in bronze mount, and sporting two large loop chasses pulls. It measures 31 1/4" tall by 43" wide by 28" deep- it has five drawers with what appears to be its original turned wood handles- it has hand dovetailed drawers and is square nailed- the finish is either original or an old refinish- the leather top I believe is an old replacement- this is a chunky solid very well made piece of furniture- it has some minor use wear on the finish. Antique spinet desk manufactured in the early 1900's by the Colonial manufacturing company. It is a secretary style desk with a fold down top. A slide out writing surface, 4 small drawers and 5 cubbies on the interior and 1 large drawer that is accessible when top is folded down. This desk is made of solid mahogany and is marked as such inside lower drawer. It is in solid shape structural. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique desk. The desk, which could also be used as a sofa or entry table, is crafted of solid pine(no veneer) and dates to the early 1900s. The top features a straight back side with rounded ends and kidney shaped front profile. There is a single drawer located on front apron section. The legs are long and sleek and feature turned wood design. The desk or table has elements of Arts and Crafts(Stickley style) design, but is also at home in a French Country setting. This is a lovely, old piece of furniture with timeless style and a graceful, elegant character. It is in very good condition with minor signs of age. There are some minor surface"bumps and bruises" and some scuffs to the finish on the legs.
