The secretary is in fair condition, and unfortunately has ... moresome issues. The shelves are loose within the bookshelf / Vitrine section and also within the secretary slant front portion, but the glass is intact within the door. The secretary has an amazing custom cut beveled mirror with a 1-inch bevel, that is on the top at the right side and lovely carved details and applied accents all throughout. The backing on the mirror is a bit loose, but this should be an easy fix. The piece is lockable, however, there is no key with it. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

Oak 1780 Antique Italian Secretary Desk& Bookcase. Hand crafted about 1780 in northern Italy. An exquisite solid oak secretary desk has an arched bookcase top. The old finish with warm patina has been revarnished recently. There are various restorations plus shrinkage separations and wear on this historic furniture. Hand cut dovetail joints. Square nails, mortise and tenon joints and hand planing marks are all authentic. Locks and keys work, the drop front rests on pull out supports. Inside are 11 small drawers plus a locking compartment. Upper doors have carved pegs at the corners. Brasses are about 100 years old but not original on this very functional European country antique. Two piece construction: the bookcase with three adjustable wood shelves, the interior with an old ivory paint finish. Both doors retain their original wavy glass, brass escutcheon, key and lock. The drop front desk has a felt writing surface, cubbyhole with two drawers and letter slots. The two bottom doors have a brass grill over dowel framed pink fabric, with brass escutcheon and lock. The original glossy finish has been revarnished over the years and is very well preserved with enough wear for warm antique patina. There are stains. Mars at the edges, shrinkage separations from age and ink stains for character. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster. The drop front key is a handle only, the lock does not work. Inside are cubicles and small drawers. A separate piece for easier moving. The bookcase has a working lock. Victorian Antique 1850 Secretary Desk. Bookcase Top, Secret Drawers. Hand carved about 1850. A spectacular secretary desk has a bookcase top, secret drawers and a pull out desk. Walnut with matched flame burl panels. The finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique. There are shrinkage separations for character, see photos. The pull out desk is lined with contrasting curly or"birdseye" maple. The writing surface is natural saddle leather. Tiny drawers inside have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms, two also have false bottoms with secret drawers. The removable bookcase has wavy glass mirrors that appear original. Here is an terrific mid-late 19th century flame mahogany column step back secretary with fold out desk. Turned legs and glass door bookcase or storage& display cabinet above and three large functional bureau drawers below. I've detailed the restoration work this lovely piece will need to bring it back to it's former full value in my detailed description of condition above and in my multiple photographs included to accurately represent the design, quality, condition and construction as well as the overall beauty and potential of this marvelous old piece of mahogany furniture bargain priced as a restoration project. It has had a few small professional repairs to the veneer previously. This wonderful cabinet travels easily in two pieces and stands 68 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches deep front to back. The top ... morebookcase section measures 33 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide at the bonnet by 12 3/4 inches deep front to back. It has 12 panes of glass in it's upper cabinet doors and three small drawers run across the bottom within the top cabinet just below the two display shelves. The bottom bureau section measures 36 inches tall with a 35 inch tall flat surface height when the desk is closed and a 3/4 inch recessed space along the back for the upper bookcase to rest in. The base is 42 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches deep front to back and had three drawers. Inside the top bookcase the cabinet measures 25 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches deep and 28 inches tall. Divided by a shelf with 12 inches clarance below the shelf and 15 inches clearance above the shelf. Below the shelves but inside the cabinet doors are three small beautifully hand dovetailed drawers, 11 1/4 wide by 5 3/4 inch front to back by 2 3/4 inch deep with the center drawer of the three actually being only 11 inches wide. We are not absolutely certain that this was produced about 1915-1925. Perhaps maybe a carry-over of the Edwardian era. We don't remember seeing any like this. and we don't remember seeing a similar one discussed in appraisal books. We searched eBay and other online sites. For a similar wicker creation and had negative results. MEASUREMENTS: 81" TALL 40" WIDE 18" FRONT TO BACK(The shelves are 11 1/4" wide) There is a fancy woven wicker trim along front edges of shelves. Along drawer edges, and along facial boards at top. Antique Secretary Desk/bookcase Liberty Co Ltd. Circa 1900
Up for sale is an antique Secretary/bookcase made by Liberty Co. Ltd of the U.K. All appears original with a possible exception of the hinges on the drop-down desk. The drawer pulls are hammered copper. Overall it is 36 inches wide. And about 51 1/2 inches tall. The secretary desk area is about 26 1/4 inches wide. The fold down desk supports are 10 inches in length and the drawer is about 21 by 13 inches. The name plate for Liberty Co Ltd is on the inside of the drawer at the front. I have no keys for the locks. This was made about 1900 and the style is late nouveau or early arts and crafts. All is in excellent condition. Please view the pictues. We are pleased to be offering today this true Victorian burl walnut secretary bookcase desk that dates from the Eastlake era of the 1870s to 1880s. This desk is truly Eastlake as it has the circular dove tail that was used for a short period of time and really pin points the date range of the desk. It came out of a pretty nice estate on the east coast. It appears to have been refinished years ago in a medium walnut stain finish. It has all the hardware intact. All the burl walnut panels are intact. The only thing we did was replace the felt on the pull out tray as the other one was stained. The desk comes with the original wavy glass on the bookcase glass doors top. Three adjustable shelves that appear to be true original shelves, the doors have burl panels on all four sides with ... morerosette covers and even comes with a key. It has a crown molded top, beautiful burl walnut center and the pull tray. The base cabinet sports three graduated drawers with the circular round Eastlake dove tail and carved columns coming down both sides and lots of burl walnut. The overall size is 40 inches at the widest point, 23 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface and 87 inches high overall. One thing I would like to add is that these desks usually have white wood sides or non walnut sides, but this one is truly all walnut as you can see in the numerous pictures. Antique 2 Piece Pine Secretary / Desk - Cupboard, Bookcase
Selling the antique pine Secretary/Desk c. 1790 shown in the pictures. The top is easily lifted off the base as shown in the pictures. The desk surface folds out and is supported by an arm that pulls out from the base. The secretary shows normal signs of wear and use and has some scratches that can easily be refinished.
