Here is an terrific mid-late 19th century flame mahogany column step back secretary with fold out desk. Turned legs and glass door bookcase or storage& display cabinet above and three large functional bureau drawers below. I've detailed the restoration work this lovely piece will need to bring it back to it's former full value in my detailed description of condition above and in my multiple photographs included to accurately represent the design, quality, condition and construction as well as the overall beauty and potential of this marvelous old piece of mahogany furniture bargain priced as a restoration project. It has had a few small professional repairs to the veneer previously. This wonderful cabinet travels easily in two pieces and stands 68 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches deep front to back. The top ... morebookcase section measures 33 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide at the bonnet by 12 3/4 inches deep front to back. It has 12 panes of glass in it's upper cabinet doors and three small drawers run across the bottom within the top cabinet just below the two display shelves. The bottom bureau section measures 36 inches tall with a 35 inch tall flat surface height when the desk is closed and a 3/4 inch recessed space along the back for the upper bookcase to rest in. The base is 42 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches deep front to back and had three drawers. Inside the top bookcase the cabinet measures 25 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches deep and 28 inches tall. Divided by a shelf with 12 inches clarance below the shelf and 15 inches clearance above the shelf. Up for sale is an antique Secretary/bookcase made by Liberty Co. Ltd of the U.K. All appears original with a possible exception of the hinges on the drop-down desk. The drawer pulls are hammered copper. Overall it is 36 inches wide. And about 51 1/2 inches tall. The secretary desk area is about 26 1/4 inches wide. The fold down desk supports are 10 inches in length and the drawer is about 21 by 13 inches. The name plate for Liberty Co Ltd is on the inside of the drawer at the front. I have no keys for the locks. This was made about 1900 and the style is late nouveau or early arts and crafts. All is in excellent condition. Please view the pictues. A very nice antique. Circa 1860's, solid walnut secretary bookcase in transitional Rococo to Renaissance Revival style. Two piece construction. The bookcase has a serpentine crest, the doors with arched wavy glass panels. The interior has three adjustable yellow maple selves and maple back boards. Just below the bookcase are two drawers. The secretary case at top has a drop forward writing surface. Below are three long drawers with carved nuts and leaves grips. The drawer interiors are maple. It measures 7'11" 95" tall by 3'8" 44" wide 21" deep, the shelves 9-1/2" deep. The felt writing surface measures 36" by 10-3/4" Very good plus condition: original unworn finish, carvings complete. The top is carved with an acanthus leaves finial, and scrolls with profile lion heads. There are two shaped beveled glass mirrors on back board above the bow front glass bookcase door, and the secretary. The bow glass has the original leaded ornament with textured squares. Three original dark stained wood stationary shelves are inside. Door has brass handle and lock. Oak drop front reveals a stained maple cubbyhole. The writing surface is three boards(two vertical shadow impressions where something was removed. It has a lock, no key.The three serpentine drawers have brass pulls, locks, and brass escutcheons, the interiors dark stained maple. Front feet are carved paws. This item is in the Eastlake style which is most easily identified by the round dovetails utilized on the drawers. Featuring the original finish, this piece had burl walnut posts on top of the exceedingly high bookcase and burl walnut panels in the base. The base has a large circular dovetail drawer and two burl walnut faced cabinet doors and an applied molded baseboard that supports the attractive cylinder desk and spindle gallery topped double door bookcase. Open the burl walnut panel cylinder to expose a burl walnut double drawer cubbyhole gallery. There is an old-time ink stain in the back. Which adds charm and character. The writing surface pulls out, ... moreand we have re-felted it in period looking green as the original was far too worn to be functional. On top of the cylinder roll, you'll see the two original wavy bubble glass doors that hold four adjustable shelves, and offers tons of storage. The shelves are fully adjustable for whatever you particular needs dictate. The bookcase doors are an impressive 43 inches tall and is topped by a multi-spindle raised panel incise carved back splash, which is often missing from desks like these. This desk is in good condition. Showing minor little nicks and dings typical of an original piece dating just post civil war era. There is a small aggravation on the left hand burl walnut post where the burl has lifted a little bit, but this is normal and is not a big deal. There is also a hair line crack on the bottom of the right hand door, which we would not restore, as it doesn't affect the piece. None of these issues are a big deal, but we mention them for full disclosure. The piece comes with one key, which is for the center drawer. We cannot guarantee the locks to work, as old time locks are finicky(especially after shipping) and usually need to be cleaned and oiled once they reach

This is a really well built secretary desk/bookcase. Nice heavy oak. Sawtooth shelf brackets. Knapp dovetailing in the drawers dates the piece between 1870 and 1900. The smaller mirror is bevelled. The pulls are all a nice heavy brass. The condition is excellent. The cabinet is 81 inches tall. 55 inches wide and 17 inches deep. There are six skeleton locks. But no key. The cabinet on the upper left has a mirror on the back wall. There are two oak shelves that can be adjusted with the sawtooth oak bracket(see photo) It is 27 inches wide 45 inches tall and 9.5 inches deep. This is a beautiful antique drop front desk. It is made in the Larkin style. I have not seen any marks that indicate a maker. The piece is dark wood and may be either mahogany or cherry. I am not a wood expert. There is a mirror and two candle holder/sconce shelves for detail, there are also shelves for books. The piece has some wear and tear on the wood, see pics, but nothing huge. It needs a good cleaning! There is no lock detail on the front and no locking mechanism. The last picture shows a brass detail piece that can be added if you like. It will be included with the item.
