Antique Vintage All Wood School Desk Chair Top Child Industrial Machine Age
This is an all wood antique child's chair top. It is in good condition. A few of the curved backing pieces need a little glue and a vice overnight to tighten them up to the top backrest. The piece is solid other than that. This is very old. Strong wood which has some gorgeous curvature to it. The bottom of the chair which is sat on is about 14.5" deep. The back of the chair is about 15 10/16" tall.

Antique School Desk. 1891- Used, Beautiful Condition! This desk was patented in 1891 and manufactured in Buffalo. New York. It was used in a one-room school house in La Flore County in the state of Oklahoma from the 1890's up until the 1940's or so. When the school house was torn down in 1967, this desk was saved, brought to San Diego, and kept safe and protected since then. The Desk is made from beautifully embellished black Wrought Iron& Contoured Wood. Very STURDY. The Seat easily flips up and down. The Desk-Top features a long groove(for pencils/pens) and a round hole(for an inkwell) The Desk-Top also features the inevitable markings and'artwork' left behind by many many young students over the years. There are initials. Signatures, random spelling words, dates(ie- 1917, etc. various kinds of famous symbols(historical/religious/other) ... morenonsense words and some very intriguing artwork. All of these markings are very important to the historical value and charm of the piece. Some of the markings especially illustrate what was in the minds of students during different periods of the 20th century. The desk has been re-assembled. Cleaned, detailed to a nice shine, and the wood and been cleaned/oiled/revitalized(as you can see in the photos) However, it can be easily dis-assembled as well. It is a little heavy. but will easily fit into the back of a truck/van/suv/car. It measures: 36" H x 24" W x 36" D(that's with the seat in the down position) This Antique School Desk is a true piece of American History.and it shows. This is a very old(I have no idea how old) children's school desk that I just inherited and really don't have the use for. It is in great shape and very sturdy and will easily hold a large adult comfortably. Due to size and weight. I am listing this as a pick up only. This is a whole desk but is too heavy so I am just selling the legs from it. I wanted you to see what it could look like as a desk but the wood is bad in some spots but you could easily replace the wood if you wanted it as a desk again. Before you ask the only way I would sell this complete is if you come and pick it up because it is just too heavy as is. The metal legs could make an awesome table base or whatever else you can think of. I'm not sure if they are cast iron or steel but they are heavy which is good for using as a base. You can see there are some adjustable parts for height.

This is a sweet antique school desk is in good condition. I bought it about 30 years ago at an antique store in Ft. Worth. Tx. and refinished it. The wood is probably pine. The desk has been kept on display indoors since its purchase. If you are familiar with these desks. The kid in the seat behind actually uses this desk. These were a little before my time, but that appears to be how they worked. When the seat is down. The desk is about 30 inches in depth, 21 inches wide, and 25 inches tall. The dimensions of the top of the desk are about 20 ½ wide by 13 ½ deep. There is an indention for a pencil and a wooden‘cubby’ for papers and books. The seat in the front and flips down for seating and up if not needed. It also has a clear glass inkwell for‘real’ ink– no ball points yet. The sides are made of heavy black cast iron and have ... morethe number 4 embossed on each side. The feet have holes for screwing the desk into the wooden school house floor. There are some small gouges on the edge of the desk(could have been a pocket knife) And some stains(probably ink) You know how kids are! This is an antique school chair. Probably a child's chair. It is made of metal on the bottom and wood on top. it is dusty but I don't want to clean it because I'm afraid of messing the finish. It is about 30" high to the back of the chair. It is quite heavy considering that it is pretty small. It is marked, IRWIN" Grand Rapids, Michigan. When opened the desk has pencil or pen rack at the top and a stop at the bottom of the desk top. In front of the desk top is a document We are not sure what this was made for, whether a school, the military, or even a plein air artist's desk. The size makes us think this was made for a child, not a full grown adult. So we are leaning towards a portable school desk, maybe a military school. When it folds all the way up there are two canvas straps, so you can sling it over your shoulder like a backpack and carry it to its next locataion. When it is set up it measures approx. 30" from the front of the desk to the back of the chair. The top of the desk is 25 1/2" high, the back of the chair is 23 1/2" high, the seat of the chair is 11 3/4" high and it is 19 1/2" across. The fittings are all iron with flat head screws. The cast iron legs have a neat Victorian Scroll design and are marked Buffalo New York and with the number 3 and three patent dates from 1881. 1890 and 1897. The piece oozes nostalgia with wood that has a great. Rich patina. Among the carved names are"Joyce" and"Jack" and other pictures. Including something that looks like a flower. The green top slips forward to rotate so that you can attach work to both sides of the desk top and flip between the two. The top frame also pivots forward for a more comfortable working position. It has been rescued from an old school demolition project and as such carries many marks and school scribbles. A very beautiful desk and a great opportunity to purchase a design classic. Up for sale is a vey old wood and metal school desk in original condition. Untouched and with all the years of use. Memories, and charm, this desk dates from the early 1900's. This can be an"Eclipse" folding desk, but I am not sure as it is unmarked from what I see. It is not cast iron, and has some rust as shown. It is blonde oak, and the best part about it is the inkwell, which is not only very hard to find in these old desks, but shows the age, as this was used when inkwells were needed. The seat folds as shown in some of the photos, and there would be another desk like this in back of it for the user of this desk to sit in. This charming original desk has a patent date of Dec 31. 07 marked on the bottom seat frame. They were manufactured between 1907-1929. This therefore is one of the earlier ones. It is in excellent shape with some original markings by it's young scholars still on the top of the desk. The wood is in excellent condition- no cracking or separating. All the hinge movements are clean and smooth. This is a very tight little desk- no wobbles on a level surface.

The cast iron sides have been done in an ornate Victorian style and say"PAT.AUG 7 1891, JAN 8 1894 BUFFALO NEW YORK" The feet have holes in them for anchoring the desk to a wood floor. The desk is all original but appears to have been cleaned up or refinished. Desk still has pencil scratches and marks from when it was actually used in a school house. The front fold up. Have not seen another model like this one out there except for one salesmans copy. Oak arm rest and seat have age wear. Some minor splits in seams running down the seat but they don't affect seating or comfort! Seat sits 18" tall and is 16" x 16" square. Writing table is 28" tall and back of seat sits 31" tall!

Antique child school desk in great condition. One of the best as it has the original swivel chair and it has a great storage area under the desktop. Has a metal pen pencil tray on the desk. The desk has two settings for angle with original metal rod that folds or opens to raise the desk. Very rare Americana and still very usable today especially for an apartment/condo as it takes up very little space and easy to clean underneath. Very nice metal frame with great vintage detail. Antique Child's Maple & Cast Iron School Desk Display Ink Hole Buffalo, New York
This is a very nice antique maple child's school desk with cast iron legs. It was probably made in the late 1800's and features an ink well and pencil slot on top. The cast iron has very nice scroll work and is marked A.H. Andrews Buffalo. New York. The bench has alternating colored slats giving it a very attractive look. The cast iron had been painted at some point. It is in excellent condition given it's age. However, there are two separate cracks on the top. They look like they have been there for some time. Offered is this antique oak school desk. This solid oak piece measures approx. 30 1/2" high. 22" deep and 18 1/2" wide. It is in very good condition and is very solid and sturdy. I do not know for sure how old it is but would guess early 1900s as it has a"Mission style" look to it. Antique AM Andrews Co Chicago, IL Cast Iron School House Desk Bases Steampunk
My uncle was a great gatherer of items. Many of which came from stoves. I have started going through these items and will be posting some. There is a lot of great rust in this pile! These are a pair of fancy design cast iron bases for a school house desk. They are embossed with the maker AM Andrews Co Chicago, also a patent no. of 641061, I am not exactly sure how this was set up, but there is a piece on each that has a bolt and folds over, creating an"L" for the seat portion to sit on, at the top portion there are small notches where, I believe the top hooked in. These are very nice and with some creativity could be made into a number of very cool things. They measure 29" across and are 29.5" tall, the base part(feet) 19" from foot to foot. They weigh@ 15lbs each. They have average surface wear and one hole on the ... morevery bottom has worn through. A wonderful addition to a collection, decor or for your restoration project. For your pleasure I am pleased to offer this wonderful set of antique school desk legs by un-named in excellent condition. One of three sets I found in a barn up here in the Southern NH. With all the mounting brackets no damage no repairs or unusual wear. They measure 21 inches fully extended. The tops are 6 1/2 inches across, and the base is 12 inches total length.
