Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. ROLLTOP DESK - Antique Large Tiger Oak C style
Large Antique Tiger Oak Finish C style ROLLTOP DESK with interior drawers and cubicles circa 1900. This was obviously a mid-level managers desk. Extremely useable(and fun) with heavy solid wood and no expensive brass to polish. I have used it on a regular basis since I picked it up at an auction in 1971. Condition: signs of wear consistent with age and use. Various use marks, stains and scratches. no keys) Excellent restoration project. Please view the pictures. There was a repair to deal with a weakness in the desk when the roll-top is removed. Several minor repairs are still needed. But I choose not to make them so that I didn't mess up the value of the desk by doing them wrong. All of the original wood and screws are present for the repairs. I am selling this locally only as I cannot imagine the cost to ship this. This is the sale of the Desk. Chair and typewriter only. The desk is in excellent condition and it is believed that its last address was with a 1916 Ford Motor Company office of some kind. All drawers open and close easily w/o catching. The mechanical system for hiding the typewriter works smoothly as well as does the rolling cover for protecting privacy. The chair is of the same information. The leather is in excellent condition and all the casters work nicely. No signs of cracked or damaged wood. The Underwood typewriter has patent information from May 1900 to August 17th 1915. A very fine and rare antique. Circa 1890's, quartersawn oak Louis XV style cylinder rolltop lady's writing desk. It is finished on all sides, four cabriole legs, two front drawers with maple interiors. The maple cubbyhole has two flame birch veneered drawers, the interior back also of flame birch veneer. The roll is in working order, with the lock and key(Vetter Desk, Rochester, NY. It measures 3'9" 45" tall by 3'6" 42" wide by 2'6" 30" deep. From the floor to the bottom front drawers measures 24-1/2y" tall. Excellent condition: original finish, mild soiling on writing surface, no chips, partial tight crack on left side board. Tiny pale stain on upper right top board. The brass pulls have some dents. All together lovely desk!

This auction is for an amazing desk. I have looked everywhere and cannot find another one like it. It is made of all metal except the bottom few inches of the legs. Even the lattice work on the sides is metal. There is also some brass or copper trim in some areas. Those areas are the handle. The feet on the legs, and on the front lip of the desk top. The desk measures 52 inches tall, 45 inches wide, and 30 inches deep. The desktop is 36.5 inches off the floor. I do not know what the original color was. It was painted at one point a brown color and then someone started to restore it and painted it red. I think if it was completed stripped it down to bare metal it would be unbelieveable, I just do not have the time or resources to have it restored. It is a really well made piece. It easily breaks down into small components to transport. As ... moreyou can see in the photos it shows some wear and needs a little tlc but really not that much. All the parts are there minus a few screws and a small spring. I have the lock to the top it just needs to be put back in. I do not have the key though. The top does open and close but I am sure some WD-40 will really make it smooth again. The spring is put in the drawer so when the rolltop is closed the drawer will lock. That is a sub dollar part and then you will have to get several screws to really secure the whole piece. It is solid and can be used as is, but there is a shelf inside the desk that needs screws and the trim on the front of the desk also needs screws. Really not that hard to do and I may even do it myself here in the next couple days and revise the listing. It is piece you really have to see to appreciate it and like I said I think it is great as is, but with some restoration it could be on the cover of a magazine. I was told this desk was used at a coal mine. It was the foreman's desk where he could keep important papers and money. Could easily lock it up and open it to pay employees. Offered here is Grandpa's roll top desk from his dental office. It is well used and shows some wear. The left side of the roll top has the first few slats loose but the rest of the roll is in great shape. This is an easy fix. The locking mechanism is missing as is the key. Antique Oak Rolltop Desk Solid Roll Top Furniture
In this particular auction. You will be bidding on a great addition to any home. As shown, this is an antique roll-top desk. Solid and constructed of oak, this is relatively easy to move as it comes apart with ease. Measuring approximately 32 inches deep, 49.5 inches wide, and 49.5 inches tall, there is a center drawer, 4 drawers on the left, and 3 drawers on the right. Though the pictures show 4 drawers on the right, the bottom is actually the depth of two drawers along with a center divider. Additionally, 2 of the drawers on the left feature pre-cut slots for ease in separation of your possessions. Previously used and very well loved, it is important to note that the center drawer has had the bottom replaced. This is shown in one of the pictures. With a smooth working roll style top that reveals numerous compartments along with two smaller ... moredrawers, there is no key. Beautiful piece for the home. Been in a clean home environment for over 10 years. No pets! No issues that we can tell. All surfaces are generally free from blemishes and have an excellent natural wood finish. The top has a couple of small stains(probably an inkwell- see photo) that must be over 70 years old as they are under the finish and give it a nice visual character. Sliding pencil drawers + extensions for additional desk space. Has an easy-to-use storage area for a typewriter(remember those? The roll top is gorgeous and has functioning original locks. This rustic beauty is an antique FB Rogers silver-plated. Rolltop butter dish. Its lid has an ornate framed top with a radiating pattern, and it opens and closes with ease; below it has dramatic lion's head and foot motif legs. Inside, there is a glass butter dish insert. There is a bank of seven pigeonholes in the centre of the desk; two small doors, which feature floral parquetry and string inlay to door fronts, flank the pigeonholes. The desk features a very useful pullout-writing base with an aged green and black-tooled leather top, which increases the working greater working space available. The pullout base features the original brass knobs; likewise, the tambour and drawer fronts feature the original brass knobs and handles. Below, there are three working drawers. This is the"holy grail" of oak rolltop desks according to my preferences. When you look at it. It's like looking into an old cathedral or old library. This is a truly stunning piece of art. Origins: My great grandfather established a retail business in Massachusetts in 1895 and the store survived three generations in the same location. When my father(third generation) closed the business in 1978, I(fourth generation) gathered up all of the treasures and had them painstakingly restored. Included was this desk, an 1800's brass National Bar Cash Register, a large Victorian Oak Book case and other pieces. The desk, when I got it had been painted green. The restorer, a master craftsman, E.P. Lavelle of Holyoke, MA took one year to completely restore this masterpiece. This is not your typical finish. The wood was stripped, the ... morepores were filled, the wood stained, then multiple coats of varnish/shellac? were applied, rubbed polished and caressed to perfection. Even the tambour strips were individually finished and then applied to new canvass to create the ultimate S roll top. The desk has been with my family for a hundred years and sad to say, I have no family that can take this heirloom. If you are a dealer with a good home in mind or a successful executive looking for a great traditional desk- this item is for you. Recently, the last ten years, this item has been in storage. I have a crate for the top and the bases were wrapped in soft material and then padded with bubble wrap. It took me the better part of the day to put it back together for the photos and it has a fresh coat of paste wax. There is a small brass plaque with my grandfather's name, restorer and my name on the panel to the rear- facing the front of this unit. A very fine antique. Circa 1890, Eastlake rolltop secretary bookcase in solid walnut, burl walnut veneers, circassian walnut veneer roll, and solid maple. Two piece construction. The bookcase has the original pierced walnut crest, usually missing. The doors are walnut and have lock and key, original wavy glass panels. The three original maple shelves have walnut fronts and are adjustable. The bookcase and secretary sides are maple. The bookcase back boards maple. Antique Stratton Trutype Rolltop Desk - Great Condition
This was my grandfather's desk that he handed it down to my Dad; I believe it was purchased around 1937(they lived in Pennsylvania until my dad was 15. It was stored at my step-grandmother's house for about 15 years and my Mom stored it until she passed. It is absolutely beautiful. Anyone who knows anything about Stratton furniture and quality construction will understand this is a steal!

Antique c 1880 Oak Rolltop Roll Top Tambour Lid Desk Small Size Secret Lock! OLD
Selling a very nice SMALL SCALE c 1880 American made antique oak roll top desk in the original finish. The desk has paneled sides and is extremely well made. The drawers are all dovetailed which is the finest drawer construction. This handy roll top/ tambour desk is the smaller version of the huge roll top desks you see in old offices and Victorian libraries. This nice example is without the drawers on the left side which makes it more practical for smaller spaces; it measures 34 inches wide by 43 inches high by 25 3/4 inches deep. Some people call this a"lady's roll top" because of the diminutive size. There are plenty of cubbies for storing all your love letters. Bills, death threats or whatever. There is a"magic" latch which keeps the top drawer locked unless you know the secret. BUY THE DESK, WE DISCLOSE THE SECRET ... moreTO OPENING THE LOCKED TOP DRAWER. The roll top/ tambour portion is in good shape and rolls easily open or shut. This wonderful antique roll top desk retains the original finish. If you want it lighter in color, there's not much to strip, but this is how the desk was intended to look. There is an old crack up the end of the left side panel, and minor age wear to the original finish. THIS IS EASY TO MOVE BECAUSE THE ROLL TOP PORTION LIFTS OFF AND THE BASE, HAVING ONLY DRAWERS ON ONE SIDE IS NOT REAL HEAVY, TWO PEOPLE CAN MOVE IT EASILY.
