Antique English Oak Secretary Desk Barley Twist
Unique. Beautiful, dark oak secretary desk made in England. I am not a professional; this piece is from my home. The gentleman I bought it from told me it was English, made about 1910-20. This piece is sturdy; 78" x 37 1/2" x 17 1/2" at the deepest desk portion. The top attaches to the desk with two screws and therefore can be dismantled for transit. Barley twist design on all four legs. I don't see any name of maker on wood. The lock to the drop-down desk door is marked"English Made" and"USA 2232/12 PAT EVER" Glass is original and wavy. Not chipped, cracked, or broken or missing. Glass door design features mission styling. Inside of glass top there are 3 moveable shelves and sawtooth wood shelf hangers up to the top 4" or so and the bottom 4" or so to hang the shelves. Has original bolt latch ... moreon the bottom of left glass door that bolts into the bottom of the cabinet. Comes with a key that locks the glass doors. But the key doesn't seem to move the desk lock, though it does fit into it. Drop-down desk door has bead design and wood appliqué on the front. Hinges have seen repairs from earlier damage but the desktop/door functions fine. Two wood support bars for the drop-down door extend automatically when door is opened. Cabinet hardware is original except the drawer pulls are replacements(the original pulls were attached by a single screw) The drawers slide very well for a piece this age. Have dovetail joinery, are sturdy and don't wiggle. Look the photos over carefully. We're happy to answer questions about this unique and attractive piece and will send more photos of a particular area. This heavy piece needs to be picked up or shipping arranged by the buyer. Beautiful Antique Golden Oak Desk with Carvings & One Center Drawer
This is a very versatile piece of furniture that is a desk but may have many other uses. The carvings(feet and sides at corners photo#4) appear hand carved and the piece could very well be prior to 1900. But I listed it 1900+ to be sure. It is a solid wood throughout and in fairly good condition-VG. It measures on top at 45.5" W and 28"D. It can add a classic look to any room with its' great style and golden oak grained color. The desk top is 29" above the floor and comfortable to sit at. The center drawer is 22"W. The"paws" are all similar and are 3"X 3.5" see photo#3) There is a small dark blemish on the wood top on the left(see photo#2) that I began to remove but it is incomplete. The bottom shelf is of a nice sweeping shape and adds to the versatility. The center drawer appears to be a replacement( ... moredrawer. It needs gluing in the front where there is a few inch separation. But it is not a difficult clamping job at all. There is a light small separation on top of the front lid that could use a little gluing to make this lovely piece in VG+++ condition. The box measures 5 3/4" long x 3 1/4" deep x 4 1/4" tall. The box is construct ed of 5/16" thick oak and uses fingerjoints for stren gth. Metal hinge s are in good working order. The chair seat swivels and the chair rolls around on casters. 16" wide x 19" deep x 35-1/2" high overall with a 19" seat height as you see it in the pictures. Looking underneath I can see that you can lower it down about 1-1/2" and you have about 6" total screw extending down below the spinning disk. You should be able to raise it 2 or 3 inches anyway. Seat height would then range between about 17-1/2 and maybe 22" You merely turn the disk to change the seat height. I lowered the seat to the minimum for shipment. The seat back has a black material tacked into place on the sides. I think it looks like old leather. But I don't know for sure. Beautiful. I found a few issues which I think are not very noticable. There was a crack in the top of the upright back support timber that I had to glue(the crack extending below the slot was not glued) One nut securing that support was replaced with a more modern one at some point, there is a split in the wood surface on the back of the seat back, one tack is missing from the back support, and there is a

This Circa 1900"S" Rolltop desk has been in the family for 64 years. It is a part of my fathers estate and will be sold to the highest bidder. The overall dimensions are approximately 55 inches wide. 51 inches tall, and 35 inches deep. The writing surface is approx. 32 inches high. The upper storage area consists of 10 drawers and 18 cubicles. The lower storage area has 9 drawers with the center drawer having its own key. Here is a fantastic original circa late 1700's English solid oak desk with gorgeous figured mahogany. The mahogany may have been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when mahogany became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. Antique Oak Coats & Clark O.N.T. Spool Thread Desk
You won't be disappointed with this beautiful and well preserved Clark's Spool Cotton Thread Desk. It is made from Golden Oak back in the 1800's. All the lettering and sign on front were hand painted. They are preserved very well. This particular one came from a store in Pittsburgh. Pa. The store operated from 1893 to some time in the 1960's. It was taken to a home and sat there till the home was auctioned at the estate sale. It has four drawers that work well and a pull open top for paperwork. The top stays open with the use of the built in wooden arm. The brass drawer pulls are all original. It also has an opening at the top for an inkwell. The black leather top is worn out and could be replaced if needed. Otherwise, the desk is in all original condition. Clark's Thread and J.P.
