The piece appears to be made of chestnut and has been refinished in the past and has some rough edges. It has excellent form with cutouts at the top and a pair of pinned through tenons at the top and bottom of each side. There is a lower shelf and the drop front flips up via a locking metal support arm. The desk is signed with a brand as pictured. The desk is sturdy and strong. We h ave an artist around here who can add tiny wood to nic k you see on the second image. It will be perfect and you will not see the nick but this job will cost you $90. Antique Quartersawn Oak Desk w/Drawers VERY UNUSUAL!
Here you are bidding on an"Antique Quartersawn Oak Desk" This is quite an unusual but attractive looking desk. It has six drawers with oak handles. The drawers each have flat skeleton keyholes(one is missing) and FOUR of the drawers have small brass and black plates on them with numbers. The desk has paneled sides and front and metal bottoms around the legs. The metal bottoms have a L shape as to screw the desk legs in place to the floor. I'm surmising this was a factory desk of sorts or a business place desk. Not really sure. The desk top has two ink well holes on it. It is a very sturdy desk and its integrity is in place. There are some intials carved here and there and some markings(see pictures)0n it There are some markings and ink stains inside the drawers as well. All in all it actually adds to its look without diminishing ... moreits appearance in general. As you can see from the pictures its really a sweet looking item and quite different. It has a nice finish and patina to it as well. There is a sliver of a seam split on the desk top but again nothing that affects the integrity. Worthy of mention but as you can see for yourself from the pictures its in really good shape despite it age. I would say its circa 1890's. Unusual Antique Oak Roll Top Desk, circa 1890's
I have never seen a roll top desk quite like this one. It might have been custom made for use in a office. It is all original, in obvious need of refinishing, unless you prefer the original condition, albeit stains, scratches, etc. typical of piece of this age. There is a large roll up door on left with compartments and one drawer, the board pulls out allowing leg room to work at desk, it seems a big short, but if you measure to top of pull out board it measures 25" high, appears to be ample room for your legs. Overall dimensions of the desk are 45" wide by 31" deep by 44" tall. The right side has small roll up door with compartments for files, note the name"Dearborn" stamped on surface. Antique Oak desk circa 1930 from the European Revival Line by Lifetime Furniture
A masculine and substantial heavily carved solid oak desk. Paper stamp says"Lifetime Furniture" which is from the Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co. operated until 1956) 36 1/2" wide by 66 1/2" long and 31" tall. This desk has spent its life. Up until a month ago, in the St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, NY. which has closed down. St. Ignatius is a Tudor Revival Palace built by utilities and tabacco mogul, Nicholas Brady in the 20's. It was also called Inisfada, meaning Long Island in Gaelic. In 1937 it was donated to the Jesuits. As the photos will show. The doors across the drawers are missing and two of the feet have a small section missing. There are a lot of surface scratches and a couple deeper one on the top. The finish is worn off in many places. Antique Oak Editor's Desk, BARGAIN PRICED
I have for sale an antique. Oak, editor's desk made by the Imperial Desk Co. Evansville, Indiana. This desk really is very well built and heavy. It measures about 60" long x 32" deep x 30 1/2" high. It has a center pencil drawer and three drawers on the right side. The left side of the desk has three faux drawer fronts housing the spring loaded typewriter shelf which is about 19" x 18" with heavy duty springs for lifting up a typewriter, this shelf could also be used for a computer printer. I believe this desk was made in April 1947 as written on the inside(see photo) The drawers have strong dove tailed joints not found in most modern furniture. The finish on the desk is still in very nice condition. There are some small gouges on the top front edge, marks and light scratches on the top and front consistent with ... moreage and use. Vtg Antique Bank School Gaming Courthouse Wood Desk Table Ink Wells Solid Oak
This is one really cool piece of history! There are ink wells and pencil cutouts for seven people/employees. It is straight on one side and curved on the other side. See the pics as to how I squared it up on a trailer to best show the curvature. It is 138" long by 88" on the curved side. I am not certain if this was used as a school desk. Banker's desk, gaming table, courtroom desk, or? If you have any thoughts of how it may have been used or where it was originally from please feel free to share your knowledge with me. I purchased it from an auction house in Phoenix, Arizona a couple of years ago and I believe it may have come from Jerome, Arizona as several other pieces which they auctioned that day were apparently from an antique store or dealer from that area of the State of Arizona. The difference is that the one at the Courthouse the people sat on the outside of the curve looking in at each other where with my table the people would be sitting on the inside of the curve looking out at other people(customers) I purchased the beautiful piece at from an auction house in Phoenix. Arizona a couple of years ago and believe it may have come from the sale of the contents of an antique store somewhere near Jerome, Arizona. This is just my assumption as other items at the auction that day had price tags on them as if they were from an antique store and the auction website made mention that they were selling some items from Jerome. Arizona(however they do sell items from more than one estate at a time) I am using it as a room divider/sofa table. It is a bit too large for my small home. This early c.1900s oak desk was recently removed from the office of an attorney. It is in very good condition with probably an early refinish. The patina on the finish is very good. It is paneled on all sides so it can be placed away from the wall. There appears to be no known damage to this item. The wear is consistent and appropriate with the age and use. The lock on the upper right top drawer is missing from the inside. The top removes from the bottom drawer base for easy moving. The approx. measurements are: 50" L x 28 1/4" W x 30" H. Whom he made hundreds of thousands of small sewing boxes for. He worked with Macys, Woolworths, Montgomery Wards, Dennisons and a few other famous folks of the day.
