1920's Antique Mission Solid Quartersawn Oak Folding Secretary Desk
On offer is a classic antique Mission or Arts&Crafts secretary desk. This desk was purchased for considerably more money in 2005. It is in need of some repair. Which could be done relative easily, but is nevertheless which is why I am asking much less than purchase price. The rear right leg is wobbly and needs reinforcement. I added a steel bracket on to stabilize it a few years ago, but it was neither an attractive nor particularly stable solution. Also the top does not close flush because the hinges have been attached incorrectly and need to be moved(as simple as drilling two new holes and puttying over the old ones) On the plus side, the quarter sawn oak is really beautiful, the tiger oak pattern is exactly what you'd want in this kind of piece. Beautiful antique golden oak 3" x 5" card filing box. This box measures 5 5/8" wide x 3 1/4" deep x 4 1/8" tall. The sides of the are constructed of 1/4" thick oak. Top and bottom are 1/8" thick solid oak. Unusual hinge mechanism is original and functions normally. Original finish was restored with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished with 0000 steel wool and paste-wax to a soft luster. Excellent condition. All joints are solid. We are pleased to offer this antique desk. This is a beautiful old desk dating to the early half of the 20th century. The desk is made of solid oak in the Mission. Arts& Crafts style. It is"Stickley" styled with a clean, simple design. The desk top is compromised of 2 planks which provide a generous work space. It has a single center drawer for pens, pencils, etc. Each side features two, open shelves for paper/file storage. The legs are simple and slightly supercede the height of the table top. This terrific, interesting piece is constructed of oak, which has a mid to dark mellow patina. The most wonderful feature of this desk is the fact that the surface is constructed of oak planks. Not a single piece of timber. The result is a mix of gorgeous grains and feature timber. The desk stands on stunning turned, reeded legs, and has three drawers on each side, and a large central drawer. Each drawer front features ornate carving around the escutcheon. The raised attitional drawer bank is a wonderful feature and consists of two smaller side drawers and a wider central drawer. There are two original keys for the desk, though locks have seized up over time. This is a large and impressive piece! The desk itself measures 137cm wide. 84cm deep and 75cm high. The overall height extends to 101.5cm including the detachable drawers on the top. This gorgeous desk is scarce. And has character and charm in abundance! 1 Antique Oak Desk& Chair Overall dimensions of this desk are 35" deep X 46" wide X 30 1/2" high. The hutch part of the desk is 17" Deep X 46" Wide X 21" High. The depth of the back filing section of this desk is 13" Deep and app. 46" wide. This desk is much different than any that I have seen. It is a desk. With hutch that sits on top and is held in place with 4 dowels, one of which is broken. The desk has 12 drawers all of which are original and work. There are no guides, they slide on the wood. The drawer locks that hold the other drawers shut/locked all work and are not broken in any manner. The locks on the drawers do work but some how I have managed to lose the keys to this desk. The hutch has 4 drawers 16"cubby holes" for storage and one pencil holder drawer on the right and only ... morethe front piece of the left pencil holder. Also on the hutch is a pencil holder that attaches tot he side but is not attached. it got knocked off when moving it out of my house, still in one piece but not attached) The locks also work on the hutch drawers but again, I have lost the keys. The back section of this desk is what makes it very different and sort of unique. It has a filing section in it. There are two doors that also have a lock without a key. The left door has a latch and the right door locks. There are several"cubby holes" with some of the original paperboard boxes/trays and there are also other section in different sizes back there. Some of the boxes have markings on them such as insurance claims. Losses etc. I had the desk refinished and cleaned the best it could be without over sanding and damaging the original look and feel of the desk in 1976. The top of the desk has not had the leather put back on it. You can see where it was damaged and mostly removed to still use the desk. Hello. Here's a great old project desk. OAK SECRETARY DESK! It measures: 41" Tall in the back. The desk to is approx 28" off floor, 30 3/4" Wide x 14" Deep, with 2 3/4" deep Drawers. It's very solid& quite attractive despite is custom huumm paint job. It looks like pretty OAK underneath. Just needs some elbow grease to bring it back out. It needs work but it's not all hammered up, doesn't look like it's been abused(except for paint) I have no keys to it, unknown if locks work properly. This is a wonderful early 1900's Student Desk with a Folding Front Seat. We believe that it is made from mostly Oak if not entirely. This great piece could be used as a desk or as a decor item. ANTIQUE TRAIN STATION ENGINEERS DESK IN QUARTERSAWN OAK. HUGE AND IMPRESIVE! This is what I believe is a desk or bench used in a train station. It is an outstanding. Impressive piece of antique oak furniture& commands a presence& comments from most everyone who sees it. It's a tall counter-height. Great for standing at. The drawers& storage are numerous, with gorgeous tambour over the vertical filing compartment. The piece comes apart in three sections: the two base towers and the slanted top. There's plenty of character in this exceptionally well-made. Heavy oak desk. You'll find signs of its history and remarkable depth of patina decorating its gorgeous quarter sawn tiger oak surfaces. To my eye, the character and age-appropriate signs of use add to the character of this tremendous desk, making it that much more ... moreprofound. Personally I'd never want to refinish it, but that will be up to the next custodian of this venerable antique. It seems this piece is pretty rare as I've not found any others available in searches. We've given this a good cleaning and a coat of paste wax inside& out(whew! Waxed the drawer-runners so they glide decently. I think it's looking more fabulous than ever! When I originally collected this awesome piece. It came with some additional parts which appear to stand on the top in back, sort of a railing the full length of the desk, with a metal bracket attached to the edge for holding(I figure) rubber stamps. There are some spots where you can see it was attached but I've never tried to reattach or restore this as I preferred it to be clean and simple without the additional detail, but whatever parts I have are included. Measures about 8' long. Desk is about 46" high at its tallest top of the slope& about 32-1/2" wide. This piece will want to be picked up by a mover. We've been using Arnoff Moving who is local here in Western Massachusetts and the Hudson Valley with good results. Thanks for visiting on your treasure-quest.

Antique Child School Desk Oak Cast Iron Adjustable Tilt Top Book Drawer Rack
As found at estate sale from garage. Dust and all. 23" tall desk top, back of seat is 26 1/2" tall. Desk top is 22" x 15. 26" overall length. Desk tilts and entire top goes up and down to adjust as child grows, it has a 3" up and down play by loosening 2 round knobs on side. The top also slants at an angle and is adjustable. I could not find a makers name on it. Except the ink well is made by Henry Wilkes Bakelite, it has a glass well. This desk will last a lifetime and will be passed down from generation to generation. It's a great investment. Picture your children sitting in it for pictures every year to see them growing up.

Antique Victorian oak desk by Paine Furniture of Boston
This is a fine example of a quality Victorian oak desk. It was manufactured circa 1890 and sold by the Paine Furniture Co. of Boston. The desk is made from quarter-sawn oak with lots of detail. The condition is excellent with smooth working and well-fitting drawers. Over the desks history the finish has evolved into warm colors with great patina. I do have the key for the desk. It measures 32" wide x 45" high x 17" deep. This is a great piece of American antique furniture that would look wonderful in any space!
