Antique Mahogany Gilt Stationery / Letter / Desk Box
Lovely Antique Mahogany Gilt Desk Box with Lockable Front(Unlocked but no Key) Possibly used as a Stationary box. A letter storage box. This box is rather old. It has a charm about it, despite the damage taken. It has a wonderful deep red-brown mahogany finish with brass coloured fittings. Inside the box there are 4 compartments, separated by 3 removable(by sliding up and out) mahogany wooden panels, the center panel is rather stiff and doesn't come out easily. There are two metallic(brass? handles either side of the box for easy lifting. There is also a small ring on the lid that could lift the box went the box is locked, or lift the lid when unlocked. The damage to the box is mainly cosmetic. But fairly significant: there is a large triangular shaped piece of wooden guilt missing from the bottom of the front face of the box, some missing ... morewooden at the box's mouth, and more on the corners of the lid. A pin is missing from the top lock piece on the front, and has made this part slightly loose. As mentioned before, the box is unlocked but the key is missing. Take a look at the images provided for a clear look, this box is sold as seen and described. Size of the piece: Box Measures 34cm in total height. 25cm in depth, 23cm in height. Massive, awesome antique mahogany desk
This desk was custom made for a print collector in Minneapolis in the 1890's by someone in Ireland. I purchased it 5 years ago from the family of the original purchaser. It is the real deal. Massive, beautiful, impressive. It is 4'X7' the top is one piece, and it sits on the two pedestals so can be dismantled into 3 pieces. The presentation drawer on the end with the leather inlay has some minor damage(see photo) which was the condition I purchased it in. The only other flaw is the edge of the top adjacent to the chair area on one side. Unfortunately I had a chair with armrests, and by the time I noticed it the armrests had beaten up the edge on the one side. I have 6 kids, it saw a lot of use. Delivery is negotiable, I have a vehicle that I can transport it inside. I can't tell you much about this desk. It is solid mahogany. Has 2 front drawers and a center drawer on the shelve. 2 drop down sides, rollers and is very good condition except on the inside of one of the legs there was a crack that has been fixed. This desk has to be over 125 years old at least. On the inside drawer it has the company name and#123. There is a picture showing the company and item# I also have a chair I use with it but I don't know if it's an antique or reproduction. I had the chair redone along with the 2 small pillows. This solid wood lap desk was made to hold up to heavy use. Probably for a Military Officer. A Traveling Official, or a Businessman that required a durable portable desk. Closed it measured 15 in. by 10 in. and 6 in. high. When opened it had a 13 ½ in. 5 ¾ in. writing surface and with another flip of the top would become a 13 ½ in. by 13 ½ in. surface. Made with solid Mahogany using hand cut dovetailed joints, it has Brass Handles recessed into the sides. Overall condition is good with wood patches in the back and along the inside edge. At some time in the past the felt was replaced and the leather hinges on the interior compartments are torn with the felt now supporting the writing surface. Antique American Mahogany Writing Desk Bureau with Brass Handles
This is a very nice very heavy Desk Bureau made in USA circa 1820. There are a few little repairs to the flap but the rest of the desk is pretty good. The colors is a brown and slightly reddish. The drawers and the flap has satinwood string inlay. There are small areas were some is missing, it sits on splayed feet and has brass handles which may not be the original ones. The back and the drawer linings again are all original with dovetail joints to the drawers. Its fitted with 2 envelope drawers to the interiors and many small drawers with a few small brass handles missing. But we will try and find these before its sold. The slides work fine to support the flap. Measurements are 42 wide 20 deep. 43 high. For sale I have a set of 4 brass and mahogany fronted drawers that apparently go to an antique roll top desk. Circa 1900. I'm not sure of their function but what I do know is that they are antique, probably mahagony? They have unusual tapered backs with heavy brass hardware(some brass is missing, see pix) The drawers are numbered 164. 165, 166, and 168 and measure just under 4 5/8" wide, by just under 3/4" tall by 9 3/4" long. Massachusetts c. 1770 Provenance from the Israel Sack Collection w/ original label signed by Israel Sack in top drawer Held in a single collection since 1931(provenance details available upon request) Item# 409LXI13S A remarkable work of art from the Newburyport area of Massachusetts. This fine American Chippendale desk is clearly executed by a craftsman of some skill. The case is joined in a manner typical of the work center, the top with tidy exposed dovetails along both sides, the bottom board likewise dovetailed into the sides of the case. The drawer blades are set into the sides of the case behind a thin applied stile on either side, these carved with raised edges to simulate cockbead molding around the drawers. The backboards are bevelled around ... moreall three edges to set flush against the back, affixed at regular intervals with mostly original iron sprigs. Each drawer is crafted with utmost precision and care, the complex blocked drawer sawn from a very thick board in a manner that leaves the drawer light and agile while the beautiful mahogany plank maintains strength and stability. These slide smoothly in and out of the case with little friction or wiggle. The lid lowers to rest on a pair of mahogany lopers revealing an attractive fitted interior with six pigeon-hole compartments over three small drawers over two large drawers and an open storage compartment flanked by a pair of blocked drawers with half-shell carvings. A very fine antique. Circa 1910's- 1920's, kidney shape Sheraton mahogany desk with string inlay and fan inlay. There are nine drawers, the top three drawers with lock(middle keyhole missing brass. Drawer interiors are cherry stained maple. Case is on eight legs with brass casters. Desk measures 31" tall by 54" wide by 26" deep, the kneehole 25-1/2" tall by 18-1/2" wide by 18" deep- with shelf 6" deep at center. Very good plus condition: original finish without Wear, boards without cracks or chips(nicks to the front top edge probably from a chair.

Antique American Solid Mahogany Wood Wooden Mantle Shelf Desk Clock Frame Bezel
Thank you for looking at this auction for this antique American solid wood clock frame. The frame has a wonderful design with the bell curved top resting on a slightly footed and wider base. The back of the clock has the top and base flush to one another so it can be placed directly against a wall or other flat surface. It appears that it is made of mahogany and has clock mounting bezel that appears to be made of brass and tin. It measures 12-1/2 inches long. 5-3/4 inches tall, 2-1/4 inches wide at the base and 1-3/4 inches wide in the bell curved top where the clock face is mounted. Upper Desk: Comprises of a fold out writing platform. With 2 removable flat boards, and 3 drawers. the ends have Chippendale batwing brass heavy duty carrying handles. Mahogany wood construction, with poplar secondary woods. The case is all blind dovetailed, and the drawers are all dovetailed construction with single board poplar flat drawer bottoms. The left most drawer retains 2 of the original cut glass ink bottles(one damaged) Lower Part: Cherry tapered leg base. With a drawer. The drawer is all dovetailed construction with yellow pine secondary woods. The drawer slides are ... moreremovable for transport. The hardware on the drawer is replaced. The legs are mortised and pinned into the side front and back rails, all consisting of 1 1/2" thick cherry. The side rails that are attached to the base are made of mahogany on the sides and yellow pine on the back. All have hand cut nails holding them onto the base. We are confident that the desk was made in Philadelphia(or its environs) around 1770 to the 1790's. The base. However, is a slightly different story. We believe the base was made FOR the top to rest on, and was made by a country cabinet shop; klunky, thick, and heavy woods, unrefined dovetails on the drawer construction(as opposed to the fine construction of the top, made by a well trained cabinet shop in a city manner with very fine wood, thinly cut, fine hand cut dovetails, and very talented blind cut dovetails in the case) The blind cut dovetails are impressive and very difficult to master on such a fine scale as this- it took a very talented city cabinet shop to make such a thing, and fine, imported English cut glass ink bottles were only available in cities.
