A very ornate Bronze clock. Circ 1850. A french original signed by the sculptor Klagman. Beautiful and very intricate figurines. At the top is a compartment which holds the key. It is surrounded by two rams heads and grapes. Below on each side of the clock face are barebreasted maidens with flowing skirts of intricate flowers. Also, the numbers on the clock match the numbers on the pendulum. The clock is in running condition. It weighs approx 75lbs, is 27" tall, 21" wide and 7-l/2 deep. After we posted this clock for sale, we have had it appraised by a professional appraiser and it is valued at $15,000.00. A copy of appraisal will be furnished on request. This is an Ithaca no. 9 cottage double dial calendar clock. The clock looks to be complete but you will have to judge for yourself. I think the finials are originals and I think it's s pretty good example of this clock. There are some veneer issues an dry cracking but these things should be expected with the age of the clock. The clock runs but I cannot guarantee the running condition if shipment is necessary. This model rarely comes up for sale so don't miss it! No real problems to use it if you can marry it to an old clock movement. Subsidiary dials have their backs for attachment to a movement and apart from the variances in the dial silver there are no other obvious defects. Dimensions are as follows: All measurements to hole centre. Checked by my son and are accurate. Dial size is 10.5 inches long by 8.75 inches wide. Hands hole is central to the sides and 6.125 inches from the top and 4.375 inches from the bottom. Two of the widing holes are 2.125 inches from centre hands hole and in line with it. People would generally set a special day to rewind them once a year. Days like New Years. Christmas, a birthday or anniversary, hence the name"anniversary clock" This clock was just serviced, is working fine and does keep correct time. It does not come with a key but the are easily attainable and relatively inexpensive. There is a small amount of tarnish or discoloration to the finish from age. Possibly this could be polished away. This Beautifully hand carved old Cuckoo Clock was found at a recent private estate sale along with several other old German clocks. Please view the pictures below) This Cuckoo clock is very impressive in size with a overall length of 20" from top of bird to the bottom of the pendulum and with a width of 11" at the widest point. The dimensionally hand carved items are very artistically created depicting a large wing Bird at the very top. She has wings spread wide and even has a glass inlaid eye. The bird is perched on a tree branch with large carved Maple leaves on both sides. Below this top piece has more of the lovely Maple leaves and branches. This piece was carved from a single piece of wood and completely frames the front. The face is large with Roman Numbers and marked"Germany" at the bottom. The movement is of the ... morefinest German quality. Made from Brass metal by the German Regula clock company and powered by two metal pine cone designed weights that hang on brass chains. The movement is regulated by a carved wooden Leaf pendulum that swings back and forth beneath the clock. At the top of the front is a little wooden hinged door. This door will open and the Cuckoo bird will appear on the half hour and hour. On the half hour he will coo coo once and on the hour as many times needed for the hour of the day. This clock is in wonderful condition for it's age with no cracks or repairs I can see in the wood. The clock runs great and the cuckoo bird function also performs. The clock is in decent antique condition, and includes a Sessions movement, but is not presently in working condition but a restorer could probably get this up and running with some effort. The Clock case is in antique condition with a fair amount of nicks, dings, and blemishes as expected with age! The clock face is stained and soiled and also has some paint loss.
