Antique French Clock Cherub/Cupid Bow Arrow
Antique french clock with Cupid holding bow and arrow. This clock has a lot of great details. Red and clear stones surrounding the face. The dial has floral garlands circling the numbers. This clock has a key but not sure if it's orginial. Bought at estate sale many years ago and have not tried to have it in working order. The overall design is great and would make a great addition to a clock collector. The measurements are approx 8 1/2" in height. 4 3/4" in length and approx 4" in depth. Contact for further photos. Superb Antique New Haven Carved Pierced Gothic Wood Tramp Art Mantle Chime Clock
Up for auction is a fantastic antique New Haven clock in a handmade wood Tramp Art case. Very fine. Intricate detail. Cathedral form with four spires, pierced and layered detail throughout, checkered roof. Dial appears to be celluloid with a brass bezel. Beautiful workmanship. In good condition with small areas of damage here and there. The tip top of the clock is chipped on both front and back, two of the protrusions along the top are chipped, one chip to the front under the dial, one chip to the scalloped edge bordering the dial, looks like one repair to the pierced area below the dial to the lower left, one split to the roof, one chip to the roof, one chip to the top corner of the openwork near the back spire, other normal signs of age. Antique Meissen Porcelain Framed Dresser Clock To the Queen of England (#5411)
Antique Meissen porcelain framed dresser clock. Howell James& Co TO THE QUEEN. Made 1850-1881. The porcelain frame made in Germany. The clock made in England. See below for further details. Measurements: the entire piece is approx 9 1/2 inches high. The porcelain frame was made by Meissen. Germany. It is an oval with multi-coloured medallions in gilded borders within gold concentric circles, alternating with skyblue daisies. The inner border is a zig-zag pattern of pastel pink and green. A pair of long-leaved foliage swags with tiny red berries are moulded on the bottom and seperated by a pink bow at the bottom. On the upper surface are a pair of putti, holding a garland of flowers and a large feather or sheath of corn. One cherub in pink and the other in blue. The design of this frame was repeatedly copied by a host of porcelain factories ... moreduring the 19th century. The clock was made by Howell James& Co and has the honor of the title TO THE QUEEN. Which would refer to Queen Victoria during the 19th century. The superior quality of their products is attested to by this designation as well as their history, as related in Wikipedia- see notes below. Engine- turned details with long black hands and silvery metal contrasting with black hands and numerals on the dial. THere are two original keys: one to set the clock and one to wind it. Mahogany back and brass stand. Marks: the porcelain is marked with the Meissen crossed swords mark used 1850-1924. No cancellation lines. The clock is marked as described: Howell James& Co and TO the Queen. Condition: the clock is in working order and for the time I had it running. It kept time well. There are some kiln'cracks' on the foliage, but no damage and the small flowers are in remarkably good condition. See'photos. The dial of the clock has some wear/puckering- see'photos. Antique Seth Thomas Bakelite Navy Ships / Boat Clock 1942 Mark 1 Runs Great
This is a Very Nice Seth Thomas Bakelite Navy Ships it is a Mark 1 C.1942 serial number N 20342. This clock runs great and the Bakelite is in fantastic condition I see no chip or cracks anywhere. I believe it is an 8 day clock but when turned the key it seemed it took a long time to wind it I do not know if they made 30 day clocks like this but it sure takes a bit to wind? The spring sounds great! The only issues I do see is someone scratched the name Marcus lightly on the back metal cover but you have to open it to see it and some super fine stress lines in the front lens and the key is not original. Other than those very minor issues this clock is fabulous. It has a 3 1/2" dial that is in very nice condition the hands also nice and have no finish loss. It's about 4" tall the widest point is 5 7/8" and it weighs 2.12 pounds. ... moreI don't think this clock has ever been opened the screws are not beat up and look like they may have never seen a screw driver but don't hold me to that it is just my guess. It is a beautifully made drum head clock in the classical style of Louis XVI. The movement is mounted in a large drum with super lions mask handles and a large urn to the top. It stands on an elaborate and heavily modelled base with laurel leaves and large scrolls and sturdy, reeded corner columns. The clock is modelled in the round and the rear door is glazed with frosted glass. This is a clock of grand proportions for a large room and will require a substantial table or mantle to stand on. All casework and the cloisonné is in excellent condition with panels top and bottom on all four sides as well as a lovely cloisonne centre to the dial. Here's a very nice miniature French carriage clock in a serpentine case with cloisonné bands top and bottom. Made about 1900. The case is just 8cm high and with the handle up it is 10.5 cm high. The cloisonné bands run around the four sides of the clock and are in good condition. There are minor signs of restoration of the cloisonné on the base at the back of the clock. Here we have an old spelter metal figural clock topper. I have seen these atop Ansonia and New haven clocks among others. This old sculpture dates to the 1800's and is in really great condition compared to others I've seen although the very tip of the feather is missing from his hat. Looking at the bottom you will see what the finish looked like originally. A gold color, but time has erased some of it on the exposed areas so he now appears as having a gold wash if you will. ANTIQUE CLOCK: Art Nouveau. Gilded Bronze, c.1900, Movement Working Perfectly This is a very fine and beautiful Antique Clock in the Art Nouveau style made. Most likely, around the turn of the last century, or around 1900. The Art Nouveau movement was an international philosophy and style of art. Architecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts, that was most popular from 1890 to 1910. It was a reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, and was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants but also in curved lines. Our clock has the typical curving lines and foliage- leaves and tendrils flanking the dial and continuing down to the feet. But the most interesting decorative element in this clock is the figure of Cupid right under the dial. He holds his bow in his right hand and seems to be cupping ... morehis ear with his left hand; a slightly mysterious gesture. Two long flower stems spring up from behind the figure of Cupid. One other interesting aspect of this clock. And one which reflects the Art Nouveau style. Is that, at first glance, the decorations around the edge appear symmetrical. But, in fact, they are not. There are slight differences in the leaves and tendrils and even in the decorative band above the dial. There is no perfect symmetry in Nature, and the artists who worked in the Art Nouveau style avoided any rigid symmetry. And sought balance instead. There is no damage to this clock. It stands securely and keeps perfect time. There is some natural wear to the gilding. But it does not detract from the beauty of the clock. The back is simply painted a bronze color. This clock measures 7 inches tall and is 4 1/2 inches wide. The photos give a very good idea of the particular charm and beauty of this Art Nouveau Clock made with a figure of Cupid from around 1900. c1879 LENZKIRCH .... brass or copper SPQR knight clock
Measures about 36" high. 24" wide. 5"6" deep at the belly. This is possibly a one-of-a-kind antique Lenzkirch clock of an SPOR knight in armor with an eagle. I believe it is c1879. Based upon the serial number on the back of the movement, which appears to be 637894. The casing is either brass or copper, I'm not sure which, and is in excellent condition. S.P.Q.R. is an abbreviation for Senatus Populus Que Romanus. Which translates to“the Senate and the people of Rome” The clock mechanism itself DOES work. But I have not tracked it for it's accuracy, so you should expect that you will have to adjust it. Here is a really nice table top wood cased clock by SETH THOMAS. It is in excellent condition. And is a model E515-003. Overall. It measures 9 1/8" wide, 4 1/8" deep at the base, and 7 1/4" tall. It works fine. But the timing of it is not guaranteed. You will have to adjust it. It's not going to keep time like Tourneau Corner! It has a nice gong sound on the hour and half hour.
