Wonderful estate collection find.chain drive French wall clock with original porcelain medallion or cartouche numbers in place and readable.some age fade to the black of the numbers as you can see in our posted photos. Carries an minute moon hand.hour is missing. The embossed sunburst pendulum has a bit of loss at the top ray or tip.this bob may attribute it to the Morbier region of France. There is a small attached plaque at the bottom of the wood case that reads"Remontoir Brevete S.G.D.G. which translates to"Winder Patented" The S.G.D.G. translates to"Without any guarantee from the Government" or Sans Garantie DuGovernement and was required to be stamped on all objects with a legal patent in 1844 and after. Especially those manufactured for export. Some french manufacturers ... moreproduced clocks for high end jewellers such as Tiffany's, Mappin Webb and private names without stamping their own brand on the item, but they did have to stamp"Brevete SGDG" somewhere on the piece. When hung on the wall, the clock immediately started to run and continued to do so for about an hour before stopping. It was not interested in running consistantly thereafter and will require your expertise or that of a professional for proper working and accuracy. Back side of the case has a metal wall hanger that appears original to the piece, with a number of 8322 incised on the hanging ring. Additionally, we note some pencil inscribed markings, some of which are illegible, on the back of the clock. There appears to be some discoloration on the back side, where a paper label was possibly in place at the point of manufacture for the clock.label is no longer present. Great example for your collection, and one that does not come along too often. Measures in at about 14" tall. This is the New Haven"Harmoniste" mantle clock. It is currently not working and may have been overwound. I have not tried to find out whats wrong with it and I don't know anything about these so I'm no help there. Cosmetically it has quite a few scratches and scrapes but considering how old it is it looks like it was well taken care of. These clocks have a very beautiful chime when there working. Beautiful Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock - "Sparta" Model - Circa 1902
Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock Offering a lovely antique Seth Thomas 8 day adamantine clock known as the"Sparta. This circa 1902 clock chimes a gong for the hour. And a delightful cup bell for the half-hour. This black clock has a multi-colored adamantine top and trim. This is in colors of green. Black and orange. Two columns resembling onyx are supported with gold colored capitals and bases. Gold colored fancy feet also support this clock. It appears that these metal parts have been painted and apparently a good job. Gold incised decoration is found on the front of the clock. The Seth Thomas movement has been cleaned. Adjusted and lubricated with synthetic clock lubricant. This movement does not have a speed adjustment, however, it does have an adjustable pendulum which will allow for this adjustment. This clock has a 4 1/2" ... moreRoman numeral paper dial which is enclosed by a fancy brass bezel. This bezel closes well and latches tightly. The dial has small areas of wear near the winding arbors. Clock measures about 10 3/4" high by 16 1/4" wide and 7" deep. The Seth Thomas code date on the bottom side indicates that this clock was manufactured in 1902. The key and pendulum bob(not original) are supplied for full operation. Beautiful Verre Eglomise French early 19th century barometer. Signed"Dubois Opticiens A Rheims" The outer glass is broken into three pieces and the inner painted and gilt glass is cracked. The outer hand is off but has not been lost. Aside from the painting and gilding on the glass there is crinkled silver foil behind transparent red glazing in parts of the painting. Very nice work and the painting is in good condition considering the rest of the piece. The dimensions are 29 1/2 high by 17 wide by 3 inches deep. The beautiful frame has anthemion with swans and scrolls and has some significant losses and the barometer mechanism in the back is. For the most part, gone as I show in the photos. Normal 0'ART DECO' VINTAGE c1930-40's A SCARCE& DESIRABLE SMITHS Sectric Mantle/ Table/ Desk CLOCK England Approx in cms: 17 wide. 14 high, 7 deep This very desirable old table/ mantle clock is very Art Deco with its' brown bakelite stepped casing. Condition is fair-good. It has been well looked after and not'bashed around' the clock keeps very good time with a very quiet movement, it works off normal 3 plug 240volt, scuffs and marks associated with age and use. The dial as can be seen has some marks near center hands, and a'drag' mark(from a minute hand) between 11& 12 o'clock markers. A very stylish& classy looking clock. In rather good condition for such an old antique clock despite showing some wear from long use, has lost its upper decoration. Magnificent mercury-gilded bronze face representing 2 winged angels marked GAUDIBERT A AVIGNON. Bell chime every half and full hour. Silk suspension(this kind of suspension was used till 1850.
