Vintage Wooden Cranberry Box crate Porter Bog Cape Cod cranberries container
I am putting up for sale this Antique 1/3 Barrel Wooden Cranberry Box/ Crate with the last name"Porter Bog" printed on each end of the box in black ink or paint. These types of boxes were used to hold 1/3 of a barrel(33 pounds) of freshly picked cranberries during harvest season back in the day and were not used for shipping. This same size and type of box is still used to this day although some people perfer to use burlap bags when dry picking their cranberries because it's less labor intensive. It measures about 23" long x 16" wide x 9" tall O.D. This box is in fair but solid condition. Fair" where as there is a piece of wood missing in the bottom's corner of the box. Also it has some nicks& scrapes& it's weathered from age-all of which can be seen in the pictures. Please read the following ... moreparagraph carefully before making carefully before making your purchase: Please keep in mind that these boxes are pretty old and they have been abused over the years by hard working cranberry growers during the harvest season so they are not in the best of shape-some are better than others and vise or visa. Before we(my brother& I) send out these boxes-we make sure the ends. Sides and bottoms are intact, do any nessasary repairs and clean out the old dust hidden in the cracks with an air compressor-then package them very carefully and send them off to the customer. This is the reason that our handling time is more than one day. We have sold hundreds of these particular boxes and most people are very pleased with them. Then there are the very few who want perfection-please don't expect it from these very old cranberry boxes. This box has many creative and decorative uses including shelving. End table, display cases, bookcases, holding potted plants or fire wood and much more for that old New England/ Cape Cod look. This auction is for an old wooden crate that was used to ship The Grand Macnish Scotch Whisky made by Robert McNish& Co. Ltd. of Glascow and London. It is dirty from being stored in an old barn for years and it has some white paint spilled down one side. It is still in solid and strong condition with no cracked or loose boards. The end board mentions the Liquor Taxing Act of 1934 so I guess it is from about that time. It measures about 20" X 15" x 9" overall. Low minimum bid!

The plastic is just deteriorating from age but the bottles are so cute; at various stages of empty to full, all glass with crimped metal tops, just like"the real thing" couldn't resist! The case is painted wood and has metal around the ends to hold it together. Coca Cola wooden crate with handle for carrying bottles. Not sure what year it is from or what country. As the writing on the side pictures is foreign. Looks to me like German or Dutch? The wood is in great condition! Also included are 6 bottles that are stamped on the bottom with a city name. There is Corpus Christy TX. Mattoon IL, Grand Canyon AZ, Grand Rapids MN, New York City NY, and Terre Haute IN. The bottles are dirty from sitting but have no cracks or chips in the glass. Vintage Wooden Milk Dairy Crate, Cabell's 9 54
This is for a vintage Cabell's wooden milk dairy crate. It is marked on two sides with. Cabell's 9 54. Not sure if the 9 54 was the date the crate was made but it looks like it could be that old. The name on the two sides can be seen but are worn. The wood on the crate has some cracks and looks old but is still solid. The wood under one handle has the largest crack. The metal around the edges and corners has some spots of light rust. The metal bottom has light rust over alot of it. The metal edge on top is slightly bowed on one side. The crate is fairly heavy and well built. Please examine all the photos carefully and ask any questions before bidding. The crate measures approx. 13" x 13" and 11" high.
