The writing on this crate is not totally legible. We believe it was a Gunther Brewing wooden crate. But we don’t know what is under the paint. The red lettering and location of the writing appears to follow the Gunther Brewing Company labeling. The crate is also identified with a 7 and 42. We believe that is the date the crate was manufactured. Size is approximately 17 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 11" The paint on the crate is obvious. But the crate is still sturdy and solid. This is a sturdy construction rustic open top tool box. Came from a family in Louisville KY. Unknown age or origin but it does have flat head wooden screws and no visible screws on the bottom. It also has a notch on one end of the box that spans the entire box underneath(hard to describe. See pictures) It is made of 5 layers of plywood. Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer is an American root beer created in 1937 in Chicago. The crate is stamped in bright vivid colors. Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer" on the longer sides. On the handle sides it is stamped, Full Quart'Mama' Size" as well as, Dad's Root Beer Bottling Co. Yankton S. D. Inside it's stamped"Sturdy Bilt" and it is. It is all wood with metal bands around the edges holding the crate together. There is red graphics on all 4 sides. Built-in handle, divider in the middle. It's in VERY good condition considering the age. I'm guessing this is from the 1920's/1930's but not for sure. The piece does not have any breaks. very solid and stable. The graphics are very bright and vibrant. I have not tried to clean. I will leave that up for a professional. The only negative is that the metal edge on one of the edges has started to rust. 1953 Korean war dated wooden Ammunition Crate Mortar M2 or M30 TNT 4.2 Cartridge
Here we have an old ammo box that has"loaded 5-53" stenciled on it. Measuring at about 32 x 11 x 7 inches. I believe it was used during the Korean Conflict. The box reads it held 2 mortars for M2 or M30's. Has weight and lot numbers on it. The old box has some staining from what may be oil. There is a lot of wear and tear to this ole girl.
