This is an all original soda box/crate made of wood that advertises an old Grocer Company as well as Life Beverage Company from Cedar Rapids. Iowa. It is somewhat shabby but very solid and usable as well. It does have paint on the bottom and some on the sides but may come off with a little pati ence. I have taken pictures of each side as well as the bottom and inside. I also took close ups of the original metal bands that are nailed on very well yet. One board in the bottom is split lengthwise in two places but it is not moving and is sturdy. The box is 17 1/2" long x 11 1/2" wide x 10" deep. As far as age, the crate obviously looks old and in solid condition.but on the ends of the crate you can seen in the last 2 photos it is stamped G-8-17.which indicates to me 1917. Note: I have a crate from another brewery with a similar stamp that is the date since that brewery was only open for a couple years and easier to verify, while Monarch had a presence both before and after prohibition. Antique Vtg Wood Crate Box Loose-Wiles Sunshine Biscuit Store Display
My great grandpa worked and lived a few blocks.From the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Co. in Kansas City, Missouri. I can still remember the heavenly smell in the air: I have several tins. From this bakery, found in his garage. This is a wooden crate end. That has an old wood frame around the edges. I don't know if the frame was added or it is part do the original crate end. It looks like it is old wood and the edges are rounded off. It has eye hooks on the back and is hung with wire. It measures 13 3/4 inches across x 13 1/4 inches high. The Loose-Wiles Biscuit Co. built a factory in Kansas City. Missouri in 1902. They delivered barrels and crates of biscuits, to the grocer's, by horse pulled wagons. I have 3 wooden bread crates listed. in this listing is a dated 2-68 Tender Crust bread truck delivery crate.the box measures 6"x20"x27" and is heavy/study.Amarillo. TX.the boxes were made by a South Carolina company- Woodstock Quality Excels. the ends are 1 x 4 1/2" boards. the bottom is 3/8" I think) plywood with"runners" nailed to it. a thin metal strip, original to the boxes, was nailed around the ends to prolong their use. the graphics are still bright red and quite legible. this box is in excellent condition. the boxes have usual age/use wear. the laquer finish has worn off in several places. please look at the pictures and ask your questions before buying. This is an awesome"six pack" A variety of six vintage New York Seltzer Water Bottles in a heavy-duty. Divided wooden crate! Each bottle has a label which reads"Bottled by New York Seltzer Water Co. Detroit, MICH. Contents 25oz Deposit $2.00"The bottles are a variety of aqua blue glass and clear glass and have graphics featuring a young woman serving seltzer water on a tray. Although all the bottles are from the New York Seltzer Water Co. The graphics and wording vary and all use the older abbreviation for Michigan- MICH. Each bottle measures 11" tall and has a 4" diameter bottom. Measuring 15 1/2" long. 10" wide, and 12" tall, the original sturdy wooden crate is divided into six compartments to carry and separate the seltzer bottles. Our history is rich with hard working people that settled there for agriculture reasons that spread into national companies. One of the companies was Meadow Gold Dairy. Located in Lincoln. Nebraska it did some business with Beatrice Foods just down highway 77. Wonderful milk, ice cream. just everything a dairy can make! Sally's Cellar is very proud to offer up for sale a Meadow Gold Dairy Crate from Lincoln. Nebraska in 1948. I found this at an antique sale in Nebraska on one of my many drives from my home to Nebraska to take care of family. This crate makes me proud as it congers up many connections to people and a way of life. This crate is just 65 years old. The dairy shut down a few years ago. the crate is in fabulous condition. what does this give you? A well built piece of history that is rarely found in this great of condition. There is some discoloration in the wood either from age, use or storage and the front right corner is not as sturdy as the rest of the piece. The bottom of the box shows character of holding heavy things for years. It is still sturdy even with some signs of inevitable dry rot. You
