The trunk is adorned with an abundance of brass trim and hardware. The brass is engraved with an elaborate design which features a scaled, fire breathing dragon. The serpent is done in a scrolling pattern which is repeated throughout the face of the brass. The brass is secured with large brass nails/tacks. The trunk is raised on 4 small legs. The inside contains a sliding top tray which moves freely, from side to side, via a larger wooden bottom that rests on wooden strips attached to the upper interior of the trunk. There are two large interior hinges which allow for smooth opening and closing of the trunk lid. A large lock on front fastens the lid in place. There is a large handle on each exterior side. The handles feature a decorative, engraved back plate. Each corner of the trunk is decorated with brass trim that highlights the dragon. THERE ARE TOO MANY DETAILS ON THIS TRUNK TO CAPTURE IN THE 12 PHOTOS! This is a beautiful. Elaborate and large trunk. It is in very good, antique condition. There is some minor evidence of age. The brass engraving has some minor areas of wear to the pattern in a couple of areas. There appears to have been a second lock on the front which is missing. One of the side handles has been reattached with two brass screws and the brass tacks are smaller on the back plate than the other tacks used on the piece. There are a couple of areas of minor splitting of the wood on the face only, which is common. None of these issues are major or distracting from the trunk. Overall, the trunk is in extremely nice condition. IT IS SIMPLY STUNNING! The trunk is large and measures 48" wide. 25" tall and 21.75" deep(front to back) The interior is 15.25" in depth(from top to bottom) The sliding tray is 18.5" x 16.75" x 2.25" The trunk is VERY HEAVY.

African art. Tribal art, pipe from bamileke tribe from Cameroon, Many of the arts produced by the bamileke is associated with the royal ceremonies. Most bamileke statues represent the chief. Art objects showed the position of a person it the hierarchy. In a chief's residence one would find ancestral figures and masks, as well as headdresses, bracelets, beaded throne, pipes, necklaces, swords, horns and etc. All of this was used to assert the chief's power. The measurement is 14 3/4 inches high x 3 1/2 inches length x 3 inches wide. Very good and excellent condition.

WE HAVE FROM A NEW ENGLAND estate a fine ephrain Downs Pillar& Splat 30 hour american mantel clock that has the original wood works. Dial, stencil, weights. pendlum in it. Ephiran downs(American: 1787-18600 WORKED BETWEEN 1810-1842. HE MADE THIS CLOCK between 1826-1830. Mr Downs was the brotherin law to Silas Hodley, America's premier clockmaker, worked with him in 1822 after working as an apprentice to Luman Watson from 1816-1821. Downs also worked with Eli Terry& Seth Thomas. This clock has a near complete paper label inside, stencil is@80% complete, original dial that has been retouched as well as the case. The clock does run& has a 3rd winding hole around 2 o' clock to indicate that there should be an alarm inside. The works do not have an alarm movement inside it. The wood works are original to the clock with no seriolus ... morealterations to it. The pulley strings have been replaced, but it has the original weights to go with it. The clock measures 28 1/2 in. in ht.17in. length, 4 3/4 in. width& I would rate the clock in vg condition.This clock has always been well taken care of even though wood works mechanisms went out of fashion almost over a 100 years. Superior quality Henredon Alvaredo Bedroom Suite consisting of highboy. 9-drawer dresser, and 2 night stands. The finish is very good, with some age-related scuffs, nicks and scratches, but can be restored if you are good at that. All the drawers are in great working order, some stains inside the 9-drawer dresser drawers that can probably be sanded out. There is a long scratch on one side of the tall dresser, front to back, and other scratches. What appears to be a missing base on one of the top left pulls of the highboy is not missing. It is in the drawer. The only missing hardware is the nightstand pull. These dressers also have the distinctive jewelry trays that are solid wood. There is one each per dresser. In pristine condition, in a drawer. This set is incredibly well-made. One caster mount on the tall dresser is broken. Just the wood ... morepart that the caster is mounted into.
