A Vintage Pair of Cups& Saucers and Matching Bread Plate. Each saucer measures 4 1/2" in diameter. Each cup measures 3" in diameter and 1 5/8" in height. The bread plate measures 5 1/8" in diameter. CONDITION: Damaged. All dishes have crazing. Discoloration and the crazing cracks, wear to the designs and discoloration on the bottom rims from display. One saucer has three hairlines of varying lengths. One cup has two small chips on the bottom rim and a small crack partway through the handle. The other cup has an X-shaped spider crack in the body. All these items are in remarkable condition! There is some roughness along some seams, and a random swirl or bubble here or there, which is expected in pressed glass. This lot of 4 coffee/tea cups was manufactured by Taylor Smith& Taylor in the 50s and 60s. They are from the Ever Yours collection and feature the Autumn Harvest design. Each cup measures 2.75" high and 3.5" across. They are all in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. One of the cups has a slight roughness in the glazing along the bottom edge as shown in one of the pictures. This appears to be a manufacturing flaw. And is barely noticeable. During the Edo period, it enjoyed the protection of the Soma lords and grew to over 100 kilns, making it one of the biggest and most important potteries in Northern Japan. However with the advent of the Meiji restoration, the influence of the lords ... moredeclined and the number of kilns gradually decreased to the 27 still in production today. Somayaki is proud of its history and draws from 300 years of tradition to create distinctive, unique pieces popular with collectors everywhere. One of the most recognisable characteristics of Somayaki is its"Hashirigoma"galloping horse motif) The origin of the motif is the subject of much speculation, but there can be no doubt that it is related to Soma's long history of horse handling( the"ma" in Soma actually means"horse" Over 1,000 years ago, horses were used as a form of martial training. Warriors were prepared for battle by trying to wrestle sacred banners from the backs of wild horses. This tradition is re-enacted during the"Soma-nomaoi" festival held every July, drawing many visitors to the area. Vintage Set of Three Wood & Sons Green Venice Porcelain Teacup Tea Cups
A Set of Three Wood& Sons Green Venice Cups. Each measures about 3 1/2" in diameter and 2 3/8" in height. CONDITION: In good shape. One of the cups has a spider crack on the inside bottom. With a chunk of glaze that's flaked off and some surrounding discoloration; there's also a line on the handle which is likely a crack, but it's hard to tell. Another cup has two small chips on the top rim. The last cup has a worn down spot on the top rim. Some wear to the gold rims and to the designs and some discoloration on the bottom rims from display. Up for auction are these lovely Vintage Royal Sealy China Japan and the other says made in Japan Tea Cups and Saucers. NO CHIPS. NO CRACKS on the BLACK/GOLD and Pearlized White WITH FLOWERS AND A HEAVY GOLD TRIM(VERY PRETTY) WOULD MAKE A NICE EDITION TO A COLLECTION, that is the cup and saucer in picture#4. The underneath of the saucer has Royal Sealy China Japan marked on it. The other cup and saucer is Green/Pearlized White with Gold trim and pretty pink and yellow flowers there are no chips or cracks on the saucer but on the cup stem's underneath of it. Has a small chip out of the underneath base but is very difficult to see if you are displaying this unless you happen to pick it up and look at the bottom underneath of the cup.
