Here is an amazing and much sought after Vienna cold painted Vienna bronze of an erotic woman in a mechanical Sarcophagus. The bronze is a Bergman bronze and bears the"urn" and"Nam greb" signature on the back lower bottom of the Sarcophagus. The colors have retained very well for the age. One of the hinges seems to be a little bent so the Sarcophagus does not stay closed all the way and the base seems to have a loose or perhaps stripped screw. So the Sarcophagus itself can rotate on its base. These are really minor issues that could be fixed easily, however, in the originality of the item, we decided not to tamper with it in the least and will leave it up to the buyer to do as they will. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. Here is the process the way we do it at European Bronze. Original Art The beginning of the process starts with something to represent what the customer wants as a finished piece. It can be a clay model as in the illustration above. It can be a sculpted or molded wooden model. Something done in metal, something done in wax or any other material that you want to use to begin the process. This becomes the model for the final piece. Reibestein Wiener Bronze- Flower Pot- Sun Flower We are offering this authentic Vienna Bronze(Wiener Bronze) Handmade and hand painted in Austria by one of the last workshops in Vienna that still produces the Vienna Bronze figures. These figures are still in production, but the design dates back to the period 1850- 1900 and has originally been manufactured by"GHAR Wien" GHAR" stands for"G. H. A. Reibestein" one of a few hundred workshops that produced Vienna Bronze figures around 1900. This flower pot with a Sun Flower is approximately 32mm tall. Please understand that these figures are handmade and vary from piece to piece. Small paint abrasions are also normal. The item will be delivered in a small gift bag. About the production of these figures The material of the object is brass. They are made of casted parts ... moreand small formed brass chips like the leafs. The casting technique: Achieving such a high level of detail requires a very complex and time intensive production process: At the beginning moulds of wax were created. Including drains for air and melted brass. All that was covered with clay. The mould was dried and fired. At the same time the wax melted and created a hollow space which was later filled with molten bronze. After casting and cooling the ceramic mould was destroyed and the brass core removed. The drains were then taken off and the whole surface was engraved by hammer and punch followed by the very costly and detailed painting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. Authentic Wiener Bronze by Bermann: Large Sitting Terrier Dog We are offering this authentic Vienna Bronze(Wiener Bronze) Handmade and handpainted in Austria by the Bermann Company. The object bears the golden"FBW" mark(Fritz Bermann Wien) This figure measures about 79mm in height. As these are handmade they may be colored slightly different. About the production of these miniatures The material of the object is brass. Achieving such a high level of detail requires a very complex and time intensive production process: At the beginning moulds of wax were created. Including drains for air and melted brass. All that was covered with clay. The mould was dried and fired. At the same time the wax melted and created a hollow space which was later filled with molten bronze. After casting and cooling the ceramic mould was destroyed and the ... morebrass core removed. The drains were then taken off and the whole surface was engraved by hammer and punch followed by the very costly and detailed painting.
