Hi again. amazing original finish. tramp art/ folk art or primitive. it was made by a real craftsman and a long time ago. it will take a lot of talk to describe this wonderful old rocker. it seriously has a lot of desirable things in its life. lol. OK now. the rocking chair is old. might well date to the civil war or earlier. all handmade. all or the wood is hand turned. cut and pegged mostly. nice detailed work. the bottom spindles are hand shaved. the rockers are both original. but one day one of them came off. and they drilled into the rocker. screwed it back on and counter sunk the holes. an early and wonderful repair. i do not think the seat is original. it has horsehair stuffing coming out of the bottom. i have tucked it up and put bubble wrap under it to retain the stuffing. the top is bark cloth. it has been on the rocker for a hundred years. it has a couple of rips. but i would preserve it. you can decide when you own it. lol made for children. a little girl or boy. 2 years old or so. it is nearly a miniature and measures only. 26 inches high. spoon carved back. and all of the back spindles match and are tight into the chair. the rockers measure. 23 inches long. the seat is about. 12 inches by 12 inches. the arms are both screwed on. it is how it was done and it is not in any way repaired. but this is q

Wood Box W/ Inlaid Plaque Layered Edging Beading Texturing Tramp Style Antique This interesting box features several different kinds of woodworking. There is an inlaid plaque on the top. A layered rectangular border, two smaller beaded borders, and a pitted texturing around all four side panels. It reminds me of tramp art styling although I am not an art expert so please judge for yourself. The box is 13 1/2" x 9 3/4" x 3 3/4" There is a small crack under the left hinge on the lid but it does not seem to cause structural problems to the box. Also. It’s hard to put this bench into one category. It could be anywhere from Victorian to Mission to Tramp Art. I not sure if it was sold in a store or hand made? But, it’s a beauty with a wonderful architectural design. The bench is very sturdy and put together with screw which appear to be original to the piece. The screws have a very aged patina and are in areas had to be screwed in as the bench was put together. The fabric top may or may not be original, it has a very Art Deco triangle design which could be of the period. Fabric may be slightly faded from time.The bench has its original finish. Some expected vintage show of age, but in excellent shape.The measurement are 34” by 17 1/2” by 14 1/4”

As it came into my possession direct from the artist along with a few other boxes and frames, which I have previously sold. Exquisite Antique Victorian Style Outsider Folk Tramp Art Box Circa Late 1890's
Winner receives an exquisitely carved Victorian style tramp art box. I am saying Victorian style because I am not sure of the exact age although my guess would be from the 1890's- early 1900's. The box is beautifully carved wood with a paper inlay which can be seen in picture 3. This is fresh from a GREAT upstate New York estate that had many great antiques. This box is being sold in"as found" condition. Meaning I have not cleaned it in any way. It is clean with no cracks or breaks, although the hinges are a little loose. A small nail would fix this problem. The box measures 6 inches wide, 6 inches long, and about 3.5 inches high. Although there is a key hole, I don't have the key, but the top opens and closes without it. This is over 100 years old, so it does show signs of age. Tramp Art Small Primitive Wood 20-Drawer Cabinet made from Cigar Boxes
We purchased this tramp art small chest of drawers from Betty’s Corner. Inc. an antique store in Westport CT, in 1981. The store owner didn’t know how old it was or where it came from. It is very unusual– the drawers are made from old cigar and fruit boxes. Several have paper import stamps on the bottom from when Hayes was president, 1877-1881. Materials used were apparently whatever was available. plywood. Scrap, and cigar boxes. As I looked at this closer while shooting. I think some of the drawers may be complete small cigar boxes. There is metal between the rows of drawers; the metal shelves seem to be repurposed too. There are 18 small drawers– 6 rows of 3 per row; and two large drawers as wide as the cabinet. One at the top and one at the bottom. These larger drawers are divided into three sections. This cabinet is quite heavy, weighing ... more17 lbs. It is still a beautiful and unique piece. There is a Sign above door that says Romany Rose The door opens up to show a handcrafted inside, as well. I have owned and enjoyed this piece for over 20 years. Available now. As I am down-sizing. This is the most amazing example of filagree wood art I have ever seen. One-of-a-kind. Superior craftsmanship. It's size is also impressive. 20" tall x 15" wide. Top shelf is 9" deep from center and 14" wide. No missing parts. Has an interior center shelf. Up for auction is an adirondak style tramp art frame likely made during the arts and crafts period. Tramp art frames were made with whatever leftover materials a carver happened to have on hand and date from the last quarter of the 19th century to the early 20th century. These frames were listed as one of the top 10 collectibles for 2013 earlier this year by Country Sampler magazine. This rugged frame looks to be made of 3 different woods. The larger outer frame, an inner layer and plywood for the maple leaves in the corners. It will fit a 7" x 9" picture and measures 10" x 12" on the outside of the frame(this does not include the outer corners) It is in fairly good shape for it's age with only minor wear; the main flaw is a bit of chipping on some of the plywood leaves(see photos) This is not too noticeable. But I am also stating that this is definitely not made of a solid piece of bark; I'm not sure if this is what bark veneer facia is or not. If you were inspecting this piece in person, you would see that what appears to be bark is in fact several layers of light colored wood shavings that have been glued together. They were then stained to give them a brown color and not the original light color of the wood. It does, however, have the plywood backing that they have pointed out. I did buy this frame with another frame that I have listed that is a tramp art frame so as to the exact age I am not certain. At any rate this frame would look very nice

Antique Tramp Art Folk Art Small Wooden Chest with Metal Handles
This lovely chest was probably made to encase treasures such as jewelry and the like. It has layers of chip work with minimal loss. The right side of the heavy lid is missing its complete last row and the tiny end piece at the front right of the lid also missing. On the back there is some loss as well. The lid and sides have brass handles set on green velvet. The corners of the velvet on the lid are accented by four brass ornaments of which there is minimal loss on two. The inside is lined with the lovely all original green velvet- just a bit dusty but not faded and worn as on the outside. The wood on the bottom of the chest is covered with blue paper and has a couple of cracks. The chest stands on four brass lion's-claws feet. There is no key fot the lock. What's even more unusual is that this frame is perfect.no losses( and the original dry finish. Someone took a great deal of time to carve this gem. If you like a little bit of history to go along with your antiques. Please continue to read below past the details of the item! Here is an ornate antique tramp art sewing box made in the late 1800's. It was hand-carved by a true artist with an appreciation for detail. There is a padded cloth pin cushion on the top of the box. And two sewing tools in one of the drawers. The wooden sewing tool is hand-carved. The lid of the box is removable. And there are two removable drawers. The box itself is in wonderful shape considering its age. The patterned lining inside of the drawers and top compartment is worn and has some holes and patches missing. The paper labels on the sides and bottom of the removable drawers. And the underneath of the top lid are worn. The heart-shaped mirror crafted into the box reflects its age. And is considered desirable ... moreby some antique collectors. Rounded to the nearest quarter-inch, are as follows: Width is 9 1/2 inches, Height is 8 inches, and the depth from front to back is 6 3/4. On the underneath of one of the drawers is an initialed signature of the artist(my Great Grandfather) A little history on this work of art: It was made by my Great Grandfather. Carl Sr. in approximately 1890 during his younger years. Carl was a traveler who called Central Illinois his home, and worked for a time on the Rock Island Railroad. Carl made this sewing box as a gift for my Great Grandmother during his travels. I love the romantic heart-shaped mirror detail. The sections of this box were carved from different cigar boxes. With stamps and labels on the underneath of the box, the inside of the box, and bottoms and sides of the drawers referencing areas of the United States such as Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the Bayou. You are bidding on a rare hand made Bohemian one of a kind piece of folk art corner cabinet. This great piece was found in western Nebraska 30 years ago at a estate auction. I was told it was made for a Bohemian wedding present for the bride and groom and it was a old world custom. The applied flowers. Grapes and leaves are made out of pressed leather and tacked on with iron square tacks. The cabinet is marked on the door with a note that I can not make out, but is dated 1849. The cabinet is a hand built museum type one of a kind corner cabinet and most of the nails are iron square cut nail from the period. The cabinet stands 56" tall, 24" wide and 14" deep and has glass in the doors. This is great peice of folk art and would be a great addition to any collection.
