ANTIQUE GEORGIAN/VICTORIAN INLAID STATIONERY BOX /TEA CADDY ? FOR RESTORATION
This is an antique box possibly Georgian or early Victorian measuring 10 1/8" 25.5cm) long. 7" 17.8cm) deep and 8 3/4" 22cm) high and stands on small brass ball feet. I am not entirely certain of it's age or original use but there is a velvet lining inside and indications that there may have once been two divisions so could possibly have been a stationery box, tea caddy or maybe used for some other purpose. The box is mahogany veneer inlaid with what appears to be satinwood. The satinwood looks to have been hand cut and inlaid and not machine produced. The mahogany venner has several splits in it and there are several small pieces of veneer missing. There are several age related knocks to the surface and also some bubbling of the veneer. The lock and escutcheon are original and the lock itself works with key but unfortunately ... moreat sometime in the past a previous owner has removed(sawn or filed off) some of the lid part of the locking device so would need repairing or replacing if you wanted to have it working. As you can see the lid is adrift with one hinge on the base and one on the lid and one of the hinges is damaged. The velvet lining to the interior also needs attention or replacing. In view of the condition I am offering as a restoration project. Despite the faults the box has a lovely colour and old patination and would be well worth restoring and could be adapted for a variety of uses. UK 1st class postage £8.30 or special delivery £9.75. Very pretty vintage Ginger Jar in pristine condition from Sadler of England. It has a pattern of a Pink rose bush on two sides and on the top.With a straight line bower of roses and greenery on the other two sides. It has no chips no cracks. But there is a bit of crazing(hardly noticeable) which signifies age. I don't know how old it is but is has been in my family at least 30 to 40 years. It also has one extra black line which you can see in the 4th picture which is underneath the glaze. It is 5.5" tall with the lid. 4.5" without the lid and weighs 1 lb 3.6 oz. This very unusual Georgian small size tea caddy measures 185mm(7.25' x 125mm(5' x 120mm(5' high with the original glass mixing bowl measuring 48mm(2' across and standing 65mm(2.5' high. It is very well crafted from mahogany with carved gadroon boarders. Turned feet and loop handles with an inlaid mother of pearl shield to the top. The tea canisters are flush hinged and lift out of the caddy as does the cut glass mixing bowl. It is in good shape with a good colour and the only fault I can find with it is the replaced mother of pearl escutcheon(photo11) and is one of the most unusual and striking antique tea caddies I have come across. Wonderful Blonde faux Tortoise Shell Pagoda Shaped Tea Caddy Box - Regency NR
I am parting with some of my faux tortoise shell box collection so up for auction is this very nice Regency blonde tea caddy. First half of the 19th C. A good size caddy at 7 1/2" wide, 5 3/4" high and 4 1/2" deep- A beautiful pagoda shaped form, excellent contrasting faux t/shell colors. Working silver lock,original key, silver hinges, silver escutcheon and silver plaque. This tea caddy has faux ivory stringing on each of the four corners on the bottom half, this faux ivory is a good bit thicker than the usual pewter stringing which is usually found on caddys, and accents very well the 4 large faux ivory shaped ball feet. All in place and secure. No missing or lifting faux t/shell veneer or stringing. Please notice the nice corresponding mirrored images of the faux t/shell panels on the front side. Two original faux ivory ... moreknobs on each faux tortoise shell lid. Small old repairs to right corner front bottom( see photo) small repaired spots to the leading edge of the front of the lid, back side left hand corner. A repaired small corner to one of the inside lids. All of the repairs are old and professionally done and are only apparent upon close inspection. Nice glossy finish. The top of the caddy closes flush to the bottom(no warping) the original key engages the lock properly and there is good tension to the lock spring. The caddy stands stable on its four faux ivory feet on a flat surface. The insides of the two tea compartments have been relined at some later time with velvet that matches the color and type of fabric which lines the underside of the lid. This velvet can of course be easily removed. Altogether, this is a tea caddy with an early classical shape and vibrantly contrasting faux tortoise shell colors. These beautiful pieces of Chinese art feature branches of pink and white dogwood( blossoms on a decorated black background. The aged brass has a lovely patina. Vivid blue enamel covers the interior of the tea jar and lid and the bottom of the plates. All three pieces are marked simply"China" which usually indicates that they were made sometime between 1890 to 1920. In wonderful condition for their age. Normal light age wear, some pitting and a couple of small chips on one of the plates(see close-up pic) and the interior and bottom of the jar. Lid fits snugly. A fine and rare 18th century porcelain tea caddy decorated with two landscape reserves and gilding. Although this piece is not marked others in the set we are offering are marked on the bottom with a W in underglaze blue. I believe this caddy is German from the Berlin factory which used the mark. A similar mark was also used by the English firm at Plymouth. Very good condition- no restoration or chips. Has a gilt metal cap. Measures 4 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" across the front x 2" deep. Vintage Early Barker Ellis English Hinged Silver Tea Caddy
Fabulous early Barker Ellis silver on copper tea caddy. Measures 4 1/2" tall, with a 2 7/8" diameter at the top. Wonderful can shaped caddy with a hinged lid, is covered with exquisite deep engraving of scrolls and flowers, and is marked on the base, with a trademark used up to the early 1930s when the company was still Barker Brothers, before merging with Ellis. Also marked"Made in England" with the numbers 57 and 28, the caddy is in excellent estate condition, the wear to the silver plate being confined to the lid, where copper shows through the scrolled pattern. Long considered one of the finest of the English silver plating companies. The tea caddy would make an excellent addition to a collection, and is offered with out reserve.

Antique Chinese Export Pottery Dolphin Fish Lid Tea Caddy Urn Tuxedo Park Estate
This is an estate piece from the W.M.V.Hoffman estate. Formerly of Tuxedo Park and N.Y.C. The Hoffman family made their fortune in N.Y.C. real estate and trace their lineage back to Garit Storm(see my website for more) Their ancestors included Groverneur and Kemble, merchants in the China trade in the late 18th century. I believe that this piece was one of the items from the merchant trade. The piece is a ceramic/ pottery lidded urn. Or perhaps a tea caddy, approx. 4-1/8" tall without the lid and approx. 5-3/4" with the lid on to the top of the fish or dolphin fin. The urn is an elongated octagonal shape. The vase has sienna or light brownish stylized painting with black accents. The top piece has a fish or dolphin. This is a charming hand chased silver tea caddy with figural scenes on two sides and medallions on the other two sides. The top has floral decoration. The tea caddy is 3 ¾ inches wide. 3 ¼ inches deep and 5 ½ inches high. The piece has hallmarks that were used in the Hanau area of Germany by Neresheimer& Sohne. The piece is a copy of an 18 th century style. The piece has been tested and is at least.800 silver and may be.835. We believe the piece dates to the late 19 th century. It weighs 8.2 troy ounces. There is a very slight dent on one of the medallions on the side. It can use some polishing. Signature confirmation and insurance is included in the shipping price.
