Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. For your consideration is a 1/2 gallon crock made of stoneware. Any of several companies could have manufactured this crock; it could also be called a tall butter crock. This small crock is almost 5 3/4" tall. The bottom is approximately 5 5/8" in diameter. This small crock has 0 chips. However at the top and on the inside, is a crack caused by the clay drying too fast at the time of manufacture; this imperfection is almost 1/2 of an inch long. This handsome crock stands 9-1/2" tall with the lid on and about 9" tall without the lid. At its widest(not counting the"handles" it is 7-1/2" wide. There are no makers marks on the crock but the bottom is stamped"USA" This is a very nice hand painted crock with an off-white background and pretty 5 petaled whispy flowers painted on the front. I"think" underneath is a salt glaze. But not sure. Please study the pictures carefully to see its vintage condition. There are no cracks, but an ever so small flake off the edge of the lid. Picture 6 is the top of the lid, picture 7 is the bottom of the lid. This is a very nice primative crock and makes a nice cookie jar for country decor or however else you want to use it. Finish has come off in a small patch along the bottom. See pics. No chips or missing pieces along opening on top which is uncommon. Cannot come up with anything on Fraser in Albany, so assuming this was a merchant on Hudson Street. Great handle on this jug that is still intact. Most of the glaze is still on this one with exception of note below. Made in the 1844-45 period per an eBayer whom knows more about stoneware than I. Great logo from the maker or end user impressed into this one and then painted blue. No other designs on this jug that I can ascertain. Old Antique Primitive Canning Crock Jar Stoneware Salt Glaze Crazing
HELLO and thanks for looking at our auction! Today we have an old antique crock that we think may have been a canning crock many years ago. It looks like a date on the bottom but we can't quite make it out but we have taken pictures of it. It has lots of flaws and chips around the top and lots of staining and crazing. There is also a hairline crack in the top and we have tried to show it in the pictures. This old crock measures 6 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" across the bottom and 4 1/4" across the top. The rim is 1/2" thick around the top and it is very heavy. It weighs 3 1/2 pounds. It is missing the bale but the holes for the bale are still intact. It is also missing the lid. This old Crock is still very pretty even with all the chips. Stains and flaws. It has lots of crazing all over the outside and inside, and would look ... moregood with the old primitives collection. Antique Stoneware Crock with INDIAN Handy Gum The Better Paste Pomona Calif
Here is a nice stoneware advertising jug. Grey stoneware with cobalt decoration of indian and the following lettering: Handy Gum the better paste Handy Manufacturing Company Pomona Ca. 128 fluid ounces 1 gallon" This paste was used for gluing on the paper fruit crate labels at the orange groves in southern Calif. I would say that this crock dates from between 1900 and 1930. The Jug is in excellent condition with just one slight flake on the inside of the lip edge about 3/16" barely noticeable. The metal wire handle is missing. These crocks are very rare and dont come up for sale very often at all. I have owned it since 1970 when I bought it in my home town of Pomona Ca. The crock measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" and weighs about 6 lbs. The is a no reserve auction! Buyer pays actual shipping and insurance costs.

It's super size for a sugar canister or for a teabag assortment, or your gas receipts even. The inside is very clean and no one has ever used it for grease. Minnesota Stoneware Tall Butter Crock Jar, Made in Red Wing.
For your consideration is a vintage Minnesota Stoneware tall butter crock jar. This company was formed in Red Wing Minnesota in 1883; in 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware to form Red Wing Union Stoneware. The embossed writing on the bottom is: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO. RED WING. This butter crock jar has a shiny glaze inside and out. This butter crock jar is approximately 5 1/4" tall. On the outside of the bottom is approximately 4 1/4" in diameter. It holds approximately one quart of water and was advertised as the 3 pound size. The unglazed spots around the bottom are fingerprints from while it was dunked in the glaze. This butter crock jar has 0 chips, however it does have a hairline that starts at the bottom and runs halfway up the side. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. Though this has no markings that I could see besides the large number 6 as shown it looks to me to be an old possibly unmarked D H Henkel Crock? It may be marked and I am just not finding it however I could not see anything. This is such a fabulous old glazed piece of stoneware and so large! THIS IS A 6 GALLON! Beautiful chocolate glaze in wonderful condition as you can see-there are a few glaze drips as I have shown in my photos. The handles are wonderful. I did not find any chips or cracks as all-underneath there is a part on the very base that may not be the way it was made-nothing causing any damage to the piece at all. The glaze and body both inside and out are just beautiful. This old crock is about 14 inches tall and 12 inches accross as the mouth. It is a wonderful old piece in super condition in my opinion. Brown incised redware stoneware crock super nice
This auction is for a very nice old stoneware redware incised crock about 9 1/2" tall. it has a grooved band in the middle of it and it has a design incised in the crock of some loops and a few straight lines could take it as a flower with a little imagination. It has a coil like design on the inside. It has a great look to it I do not know anything more about it came from a old household sale. has a small chip on inside of top edge it is an old mark that is hardly able to make out looks liek a rumple in the edge Super nice looking and in great shape and color it is brown. any questions just ask.

Antique 10 gallon stoneware crock
This is an antique 10 gallon stoneware crock. The only stoneware in this auction is the crock. The other jugs are there to judge its immense size and due to bulk and weight this must be a pick-up only. Crock is in great condition with a couple of hair-lines and an american eagle sticker that was put on some years ago, but will peel off with some effort. Crock has 2 wires that go all the way around near the top and bottom, and looks like these were put on right after the jug was fired, to protect it from breaking. Antique Stoneware: Agricultural Dispenser Crock w/ Advertising, RED WING, 1930's
An unusual and unique Stoneware Dispensing Crock with advertising made by Red Wing Union. Ca.1930's. It is marked PERFECTION MFG. CO. MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. This company patented a wide range of dairy and agricultural apparatus, regularly displaying them at early Minnesota State Fairs in the 1920's. This piece was originally developed to dispense a solution for cleaning and sterilizing the milker cups and lines in the dairy industry. The lines could be attached to a pair of spigots at the bottom the the crock. The overall condition is great, with just a few minor dings on the base. There are no hairlines, cracks or repaired damage. The two gaskets in the bottom drainage holes are dry and cracked as expected. A wonderful piece of early advertising that can certainly be repurposed in you Country or Primitive setting. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. This auctin is for a Vintage 6 Gallon Western Stoneware Crock. Has the maple leaf and the number 6 on the front in blue. This has blemishes and hair line fractures but is intact. I hope the pictures help you. Someone placed a piece of tape along the bottom, I started to remove it but will let you finish. It has two chipped areas along the bottom, top is not chipped. As mentioned there are spider veins or hair line fractures going through it, but no daylight cracks or breaks. Stands right at 13.5" tall and the top diameter is right at 12.75" wide. Nice old stoneware sugar jug Part of label still remains M.C. Moicest? Pure Granulated Sugar Jug Blue& White Stripe Measures approx 11.5" tall I cannot find any cracks or chips. Crock Stoneware Cookie Jar Hand Painted Floral Yellow Old yellow stoneware crock I purchased from a woman in her mid seventies. She said this was her husbands mothers. The multi-colored florals on the front are done in a raised thick paint; I have no idea if this is true to the piece or added by the owner. According to the woman I purchased from she claims its been that way always. There are some paint chips particularly along the bottom. I tried to show in photos that its not perfect and the lid has been broken and repaired. Height is 9" to the rim. Circumference around widest part. Up for bid is antique. Albany Brown Slip glaze, Stoneware Perserve Crock including the lid. The crock measures just under 7 inches tall and the base is 5- 1/2 inches in diameter. Due to age and use there are some imperfections such as: several chips around the opening edge(pictures 6-11) and a hairline crack(picture 11& 12) There is also a chip on the bottom edge(picture 5) and some minor nicks on the very bottom. One chip in the body of the crock(picture 2) and some scratches in the glaze. The manufacturer imperfections include missing glaze at the top outside edge(picture 3) also a spot on the inside. glaze finger prints on the underneath side of the lid and on the bottom outside edge and finally some darker shade run marks in the glaze(picture 2) All items are offered and sold in“AS IS” condition. Vintage Stoneware Six Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 6 and Decor
For your consideration is a salt glazed six gallon crock. I am not sure what company manufactured this crock. However there are some clues that could help: It is yellow(or at least I think it would be if properly cleaned) The 6 and th decor around it were stenciled on. The decor around the 6 has an outside diameter of approximately 2" The crock is hand turned. There is a sigle trim line, running not more than 1/8 of inch below the rounded rim and another single trim line approximately 1 1/4" below the rim. This crock stands approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock is very stable, but has the following imperfections: In the front and running downward into the decor circle, is a very tight hairline approximately 4" long. Closer to the right handle, than the front is a three ... morehailine"crow's foot" each of the three hairlines are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" long and all three are very tight. On each handle, are minor to insignifcant chips. On the backsideare some places where the glaze is missing. This crock is basically in"as found condition; all I did was wipe the dust off. Jar style crock with lid! Bought in Fairhope. Alabama or Canton, Mississippi at arts/craft fair years ago. Jar is beautiful and in excellent condition! Not sure of age, some roughness on top and bottom usual with pottery, no cracks or chips only factory flaws. I used this as a decorative piece for years. Gorgeous navy blue rings around the middle.
