This is a very old and primitive-looking(not perfectly round. But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt ... moreglazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They are part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

It measures approximately 3 1/2" in height and 8 1/4" in diameter. I do not see any markings. It is in great condition overall with small signs of age or use. I see a few small chips and/or production imperfections. There is one line in the rim- it could be a crack but to me it looks more like a flaw from the mold. Please see pictures for more details. Nice Old Antique Bowker's Pyrox, Crock Earthenware Stoneware Pottery Jar, Jug
Here's another of the nice old or antique jars. Jugs and bottles of the stoneware, earthenware or crockery type we'll be listing. This one is in very nice condition and has embossed lettering"Bowker's" and"Poison" and advertising under the glaze as well, Bowker's Pyrox" A combined Insecticide and fungicide" The company was"Bowker Insecticide Co" for those looking up details on the internet. Interestingly in most recent years this had been used to hold a handful of wooden spoons and other kitchen utensils in the kitchen. This type of stoneware is often called a crock or crockery or earthenware or pottery in this area. Originally this had a wire bail and probably a wood handle as the eyelets are still present. It is a wide mouth at about 2.5 inches inside diameter, It is about 5.75 inches ... morein diameter at the base with a uniform body that reduces down to about 3.5 inches in diameter near the top. It stands about 7.25 inches tall. There are two marks of note on the bottom edge we show in the pictures. One is a very small surface flake and the other is a very old impact mark with surface spider lines very likely made when this was being made. You can see two other indents to the clay under the glaze on the underside that show these were somewhat roughly handled during the manufacturing process. The glaze is in very nice condition. There are a couple discoloration marks that probably are under the glaze or where the glaze was applied more thickly and later darkened. Very nice overall. That's about it. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. We'll start this old primitive pottery or stoneware wide mouth jar or jug low so enjoy the auction. We'll pack this carefully. When packed this will weigh about 4 lbs so we'll use USPS Parcel Select service as the lowest cost postal alternative to the buyer. We have no packing or handling charge. Extra cost USPS postal services like Postal Insurance or Upgraded postal services are easily availabl

This lovely example of southern pottery is thin walled, has 2 applied ear handles, a rounded rim, and a dark greenish olive brown glaze. All the characteristics of an Edgefield, Pottersville piece. We looked at other examples on the web and it does have the shape and characteristics of David Drake, or Dave The Slave. Possibly could have been made 1840's-1850's. We cannot be 100% sure. A great early example of South Carolina Pottery with a wonderful ovoid shape and great alkaline glaze. It would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. If you have any questions please email. We will ship via USPS and will insure. Best of luck and thanks.

Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. If you have ever seen one or have any information on this piece I would love to know more, please message me! I have no reason to believe this is a repro(usually reproductions are found in quantity) BUT I am not an antique expert by any means so please check out these pictures for details and if you have any questions please ask before bidding. Make an offer& thanks for looking! Posted with FREE priority shipping. I will carefully pack this item and have it to the post office same or next day after payment received!

Antique Weyman's COPENHAGEN Snuff Stoneware CROCK & 4 Miniature STONEWARE Crocks
In the early 1820s. Local tobacconist George Weyman put together a new blend of chew that he called" Copenhagen" snuff. Widely recognized as one of America's earliest consumer products with a brand name. In 1922. Weyman became United States Tobacco; today, Copenhagen is made by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. Based in Virginia. Even now. The company proudly traces its history back to Weyman's tobacco shop in Pittsburgh. We are pleased to offer this George Weyman’s Copenhagen Snuff Stoneware Crock circa 1800s and Four Miniature Stoneware Crocks. The Stoneware Crock is embossed with Weyman’s Snuff as shown in the photos. The Four Miniature Stoneware Crocks may have been used to sell preserves or honey and their date of origin is unknown. Two of the Miniature Stoneware Crocks are labeled CW in a circle. One is labeled WB, and ... moreone is labeled M. The crocks are in excellent condition with age appropriate wear. The Weyman’s Copenhagen’s Snuff Stoneware Crock measures 6 inches high and 14 inches round in circumference. T.F. REPPERT Greensboro PA Antique Stoneware Crock Jar Grey Blue 2 Gallon Plow
T.F. Reppert antique stoneware crock from Greensboro PA. Sadly this one is broken. It was shipped to my father and didn't survive the trip. He is thinning out his collection beginning with the broken ones. This was broken into pieces and glue repaired. I'm sure a professional repair job could be possible. But this feels pretty sturdy as is. It would not hold water but still displays well. It's a beautiful piece of history that can't be replaced and shouldn't just be thrown away because it's broken. So, in it's AS IS state, with this low starting price I would say this would be a great piece to bulk up a growing or new collection, or for shelf display. Low starting price for a piece that would be worth over $200 in mint condition. This is a 2 gallon crock that measures 7.25" across the top, 12" tall, and ... more7.5" across the bottom. It has a blue band at the top and at the bottom. One squiggly line near top. It says T F Reppert, Greensboro PA, features a plow design in the center and has a number 2 with arrows on each side. I've tried to photograph this in as much detail as possible, so please see pics for exact condition. I will bubble wrap, double box, paper shred or peanut this to make it as safe for shipping as possible. Please ask any questions before bidding, Thank you for looking! Antique Stoneware Crock Jar Blue Clover Flower Baltimore Maryland
Baltimore Maryland 1800's stoneware crock. Possibly an unsigned Peter Hermann. Sadly this did not survive someone shipping it to my father. He is thinning out his collection starting with the broken ones. This has been glue repaired. It feels pretty sturdy. I think this would be a great piece for someone wanting to bulk up a collection, or for a cheap starter piece to have for display. It's a piece of history that you just can't throw away because it's broken. Anyway, low starting price for something that would be worth near $200 in mint condition. I have tried to photograph all sides and angles in detail, so please refer to pics to see exact condition for yourself and ask any questions you may have before bidding. This crock measures 6.25" across the top and is 9.75" tall. It has three downward facing clovers or ... moreflowers around the sides. If you know someone who can do professional repair this could easily be brought back to full life. This is being sold AS IS, so please look at pics in detail. Thank you for looking. I will bubble wrap, peanut or paper shred, and double box for as safe shipping as possible. Posted with
