It has an elaborate cobalt blue decoration with vines, flower and leaves, tendrils etc. This jug is about 19" tall and approx. 10-3/4" across the diameter at the base and about 34-35 inches in circumference at the widest part of the jug. The top and side(of the spout) have very old chips. There is an"in-the-making" defect in the front that you can view with the e-bay magnifier. Vintage Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock w/ Blue Flowers - Marked USA
Recently I found some great"treasures" at several local estate sales. Including this lovely vintage salt glazed stoneware crock which features a group of blue flowers on the front and a USA mark on the bottom. I was unable to ascertain which company made this- no other obvious marks. This crock measures 7 3/4" high and 7 1/4" in diameter across the top. The inside and outside walls of the crock are glazed- the bottom and top edge are not. There are some tiny pin pricks& little dents in the glaze, and there is a stain on the bottom, but overall condition is good- no chips or cracks. A great addition to any crock collection, to use as a planter or for pickles, or to as decor in a blue& white kitchen! This is a rather old stoneware pitcher with no bottom makers marks. Sorry. I do not know who the maker was. It is 6.5" tall with a 4" base and it is 5" wide at the spout to handle. It weighs 1 1/4 pounds. It has no chips. Or cracks and is clean inside and out. It does have to small holes in the top which have bee patched closed. It has raised floral and leaf patterns on all sides. Neat old collectible piece which we have displayed in our smoke free home for many years. Please look closely at the pictures. Exc. 19th C. Large 3 Gallon Cobalt Floral Decorated Remmey Stoneware Crock NR
An excellent 19th C. large 3 gallon cobalt floral decorated stoneware crock or jar attributed to the Remmey family of potters. C. 1840-1860. This piece has a large cobalt floral design on both sides, the handles are highlighted in cobalt, as well as an unusual design underneath the handles. The cobalt decoration is very thick& vibrant, with a drooping flower design on either side. This is in very nice condition with some tiny chips on the inside rim, the largest is 1" the other few are 1/4" or smaller. There is a very tight hairline extending down the side 7" the piece is very solid& still rings true. The form on this early Remmey crock or jar is excellent, probably made in Philadelphia in the mid 19th c. There are no other chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. An early 19th C. two gallon cobalt decorated stoneware crock or jar. Possibly New York City or New Jersey in origin, C. 1810-1820. This is an excellent example in wonderful condition, the large cobalt decorated handles are almost as high up as the rim. The front is decorated with the number"2" in cobalt, just below the rim. This early stoneware piece is in excellent condition, with a few tiny chips on the inside rim& one tiny(1/4" chip on the back outside rim. There are no other chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. This piece measures 11 3/4" tall, the top is 5 3/8" in diameter& the bottom is 5 1/2" in diameter. This is a Vintage Salt Glazed Crock It is Unmarked I have had three others from this same look and material make-up I believe this to be Anna Pottery from here in Beautiful Southern Illinois making no claims the color the clay everything looks right It was in an estate auction in the Shawnee Forest Yesterday Saturday 4-13-13 I managed to get two very nice crocks each individually beautiful the measurements are it stands eight and a quarter inches tall by six and a half inches wide the top is four and a quarter inches in diameter with an inner rim the inside open end is just under three inches in diameter the base bottom is seven inches in diameter the outside color is a beige color salt glazed with a dozen character marks and gouges the inside is dark brown with spirals it has been around there are several small nicks and chips nothing major ... moreit rings true one on the top rim two on the base It is an American Beauty I was thrilled to get it an offer it on eBay for the next few days at a very reasonable starting price exactly 25% over my cost with No Reserve! Offering antique 19th century large covered stoneware salt glaze butter crock with mold fruit and floral decoration on the body of the crock and the lid. The condition of the crock is excellent. The lid has one small flat flake on the ede only. The background of the surface has been decorated with molded wave pattern- see pictures. The name BUTTER is molded on the front of the crock.There is original metal wire handle. It is 6 3/4" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep. Measures with the lid the covered butter crock is 4 1/8" tall and the lid is 6 5/8" across. Weight before packing is 3.12 lbs. This is old item and demonstrate characteristic of age including wear on the bottom and top edge. Up for bid is antique. Stoneware Perserve Crock including the lid. The crock measures just under 7 inches tall and the base is 5- 1/2 inches in diameter. Due to age and use there are some imperfections such as: several chips around the opening edge(pictures 6-11) and a hairline crack(picture 11& 12) There is also a chip on the bottom edge(picture 5) and some minor nicks on the very bottom. One chip in the body of the crock(picture 2) and some scratches in the glaze. E Norton& Co Bennington VT 4 gallon antique stoneware crock with elaborate stylized floral bouquet in cobalt. Measures 11" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top. Very clear maker stamp. 1881-1894 are the years Norton stoneware was marked E Norton& Co. Condition: please see pictures as part of condition detail. This is in overall very good shape. On the rim are two shallow chips. One measure 1cm long by 7mm wide. One 5mm round. Both ears are in excellent shape. On the cobalt flower is a flaking chip approx 3mm. On the back of the rim is a flaw in the making with rough excess. As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Blackberry Salt Holder crock. It measures 6" wide by 4" tall in front, 5.75" in back. Mint value $150- $175 without lid($250-$275 with lid) This piece does not have a lid. The word"SALT" is highlighted in dark blue on front. Blackberry clusters extend on each side of the lettering into the side seams. The smooth background is given depth by bands of diffused blue around the top and bottom graduating to a more uniform blue towards the sides. This is in excellent condition. NO CHIPS or CRACKS! 19th C. 3 Gallon Cobalt Floral Decorated Norton Tophat Form Stoneware Crock Jar
An excellent 19th C. 3 gallon stoneware crock with a large cobalt floral plume design. This piece was made by E Norton. Bennington, Vermont c. 1881-1894. The design is very thick& vibrant, the maker's stamp is highlighted in cobalt& nicely impressed, perfectly legible. The wonderful cobalt floral decoration is quite large, taking up most of the front of the crock, the design alone measures 7 3/4" tall! This early stoneware piece measures 10" tall, 11" in diameter at the top& 10 1/2" in diameter at the bottom. This piece is in great condition with only two small chips on the outside edge of the rim(1/2" 1/4" a shallow chip on the base. Otherwise this piece has no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs.
