Victorian Brown Saltglazed Stoneware Crock Pot/ Storage Jar/ Vase C1880 This is a saltglazed stoneware kitchen storage jar dating from between about 1860 and 1900 with a nice even brown glaze and a band of incised lines on the side containing a pattern of impressed stars. Hearts, triangles, dots, squares etc, that looks a bit like hieroglyphic writing but in fact it is in a continuous spiral and would have been applied with a roller. This one is in fairly good shape. There is a large chunk out of the edge of the base that looks like a manufacturing flaw, and two other post production chips on the base, These do not affect the strength of the pot or stop it being watertight. On the rim there is again a bit of glazed over damage, and one very tiny chip. You often find these manufacturing defects on these salt glaze jars, as they were not fine ... morechina but quite utilitarian objects, so slightly damaged ones were not discarded on the production line, as would have happened with a porcelain teacup, for example. As it is quite decorative. This jar could be used as a flower vase, or it would be great for keeping those kitchen utensils under control. This is an antique 2-gallon Bangor Stone Ware Co. salt-glazed stoneware jug. C. 1880-1917. It is stamped in cobalt blue with the number 2 above"Bangor Stone Ware Co, Bangor Maine" Two drops of glaze from the manufacturing process. As well as several light brown drops from the manufacturing process, can be seen in photographs#1 and#2. A small, shallow surface flake on the outside of the lip near the handle can be seen in photograph#4, along with a few insignificant surface hairlines. An additional surface hairline on the outside of the lip can be seen in photograph#5. A 3-1/4" long surface hairline can be seen in photograph#6. A very small chip on the base can be seen in photograph#8. The photographs show that the jug is in good overall condition. The company referred to itself as the"manufacturers of stone& fancy pressed ware of every description. The Stoneware Manufactory at Bangor. chapter 24 in M. Lelyn Branin's book The Early Potters and Potteries of Maine(Middletown. CT:Wesleyan University Press, 1978) gives a good history of the company. The following is an excerpt from the 1882 History of Penobscot County. Maine. Among the prominent manufacturing establishments in Bangor is the large pottery of Persson& Soderberg. This establishment. Named the Bangor Stoneware Company, is one of only a few months growth, and already has become one of the prominent interests in the city. The open salt glazed Stoneware Crock is stamped with OTTMAN BRO'S over FORT EDWARD. NY over a compact tight cluster hand slipped blue scroll coil spray dotted leafy floral cluster typical of slip cup decoration(slip is liquid clay) that looks like two google eyes. The decorations sits well ... moremid front to the piece and shows nicely in overall balanced scheme to the viewer, this one had some thought exercised during manufacture as so many other finds are simply routine, unimaginative, and in some cases, downright hurried and sloppy! The molded rim ring is thick, well formed and strong, and left and right ear lug handles are sound, tight, easy grip, deeply formed, and attached firmly no issues. This is a clean nice stoneware example for anyone's proud display collection. Unmarked to capacity, I would say it is best equivalent to just about 1 1/2 gallon size. Condition Report: Very sound. Super clean Stoneware desireable small counter top sized Crock has few if any flaws to note except getting super picky.Two fingernail dents before firing in coil spray area. Two inch cloud shaped darker grey discolor area floating on back. Two half inch similar marks floating left side front. No kiss marks or stone pings. Clean sound bottom with some dirt/blackened surface color. No fry to cobalt, No hairlines. No repairs. Antique Beehive Stoneware Crock Brown salt Glaze Moonshine? 3 Gallons?
This is an OLD(1860's- 1890's) Antique Beehive Stoneware Crock Brown Salt Glaze Jug. It is Hand turned. Probably used for Moonshine or some type of liquid. I think it's 3 Gallons because it's larger then I've seen. Size Stands about 12" tall x 9" across. NO Chips or Cracks, please look at my pictures.

Monmouth Pottery Western Stoneware Crock Butter Churn Illinois Antique Complete
Being offered is a very hard to find antique. Hand turned Monmouth Pottery Company pre Western Stoneware 5 gallon butter churn complete with lid and wood dasher. This is an early. Hand turned salt glaze churn with an albany glaze interior made just prior to the bristol glaze and also prior to when the company started stenciling USA on the front of their pieces. The stenciled markings are pretty bold and complete on the churn. There is what is called a turkey drip below the stenciled Monmouth. Which is just some of the albany glaze from the interior that dripped out onto the front adding to the character of the piece. The lid is a perfect fit and is guaranteed to be a lid from the Monmouth Pottery factory. As it is a perfect match for the lids that are found in the Monmouth Western Stoneware Book on pg. 19. The wooden dasher seems to be the ... moreright size for churn and is an old dasher(close up photos included) Absolutely no repairs have been done to the lid or to the churn. The churn is nice and solid. It has a few tight crow's feet in the center of the body of the churn that do not touch the rim nor the bottom. Only one of them show up on the inside, about 2" can be seen inside on the albany glaze. There is also one thin chip on the inside of the rim and one small rough spot on one of the handles. The lid has the normal factory imperfections that include glaze misses and glazed over imperfections. And a few tiny nicks but no cracks and no hairlines. There are 12 photos included and all questions are welcome. PLEASE NOTE: To arrive safely. These pieces will have to be packaged into 2 separate boxes. ANTIQUE NELSON McCOY SANITARY STONEWARE CO. CROCK c. 1927
This crock is an early version of stoneware crocks produced by the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Crock Company. This is a 4-gallon crock with no chips or cracks noted. It is very nice. While researching this piece I found the following article describing a nearly identical crock at"The clover is one of the earliest known marks of the company. Along with the other markings shown above. The first three markings were typically incised, or cut into the bottom of the clay body, whereas the clover was stamped on with blue ink. This particular blue marking was stamped on. The M stands for McCoy, and the number denotes the size of the crock in gallons. This is a wonderful old crock pitcher! It was made by U.S.A. and is in the Grape& Leaf design. I believe this piece to be over 80 years old. But I do not know the exact date it was manufactured. The glaze is a rich brown with a cream tone on the inside. The pitcher stands around 5 3/4" in height and is about 8" across at the handle/spout. A very nice piece!

Nice Estate Auction Find) You are bidding on a stoneware crock. It is all brown. Although the edges and rims seem a little lighter. It is a bit rustic looking as there are spots missing glaze and tiny indents and a couple of lines in the actual crock itself, probably from when it was made. The bottom of the crock has a light glaze swirled on it, but no maker mark. Picture#4 shows a flake on the top rim. This is a straight sided crock with a round lip. There was no cover with it. It measures 6 1/2" high and is 5 3/4" in diameter. If you look very closely at picture#7, there is a 2 3/4" long crack from the rim down. It is barely visible. This is a smaller crock, and would fit well in many different collections. This will look great in your"country" kitchen sitting on the counter filled with your vintage utensils. A primitive 2Gal. Salt-Glazed Crock; early Ovoid form with Cobalt accents on applied lug handles. There is a capacity mark stamped on the collar. This is a New England piece. Likely made in Connecticut sometime around 1860. The overall condition is excellent. There is a surface line in the glaze near the base(lower right) and some minor flaws on the Albany Slip interior; these appear to be production related(see close-ups) No other excuses with this Keeper; displays exceptionally. This advertising piece of stoneware has a lovely ivory color with cobalt blue writing. A great bowl to keep keys and your wallet in or use in the kitchen. It is advertising Lambrecht Butter made in New Jersey and has a 12 cent deposit. Has no chips or cracks that were not original flaws in the making. There is a three veined crack at one of the 12 cent deposits area where the blue ink has flowed into. But then again this was done in the making. It holds 1 1/2 cups so it can be used as a measure. This is a great opportunity to have a beautiful period crock. This R.T. WILLIAMS NEW GENEVA PA ANTIQUE 1800s 2 STONEWARE CROCK POT JUG SCULPTURE is a great example of work from the 1800s. As you can see there is a natural birth mark on this crock that was there and has been there since the firing of this crock. I believe that the maker did it late in the process and felt it better due to the perfection of this piece to just leave it be instead of scraping it. I personally think that it gives it that extra character that I like to see in them. This thing is 12 inches tall and 7 inches from lip to lip. There are no cracks dings or dents. This is a lovely Antique Early 20th Century 2-Gallon CROWN“Cobalt Blue” Banded in Mint Condition. The crock has no lid or spigot. The crock is clearly marked with the CROWN logo and 2 Gallon size number in the same Cobalt Blue as the band at its center. The Crock is in Mint Condition with no breaks. Chips, cracks or crazing- not even a hairline or nick. It is absolutely pristine. I have never seen another crock with this many decorative“Cobalt Blue” bands. There are 6 of them encircling the crock, each 1/2” wide, 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 2 sets 2 on each side of the center. The crock measures 7-1/2” across the top, curving outward to 9” across its bulbous center and narrowing to 8” across the base and stands 11-3/4” high. The stoneware is 1/2” thick. Estate Fresh from a centennial farm located in Maybee. Michigan. This auction is for an adorable and vintage stoneware/yellowware butter crock. The farm crock has an all-over design of what appears to be larger daisy flowers on a trellis background. The crock is half brown and half white in color. Dating to the 1920's-1930's time period and absolutely cute as a button! Surprisingly- no damage is found. This older farm crock measures 4" in height and 5 1/2" in diameter across the top. Estate Find! Antique Milk Bowl/Crock Blue/White Stoneware Bail Handle w/Wooden Grip Outside of Bowl- Raised Double Square Pattern 4 Sunflowers on Sides Top Rim Solid Blue- Bottom Blue/White Blue Mark on Inside- Cannot Read 6" High 11" Top Diameter(12" Bail Lip to Bail Lip) This is a very interesting and very nice antique Milk Bowl with Bail Handle. The material is stoneware with a blue and white glaze(may be a salt glaze) The bail handle has a black wooden grip. The bottom has an impressed Star with 3 outer rings of a raised block look. The top ri. Is a solid blue and has a nice design on the bottom edge. The maker is unknown but the blue marks on the inside near the top were probably their marks. There are a couple chips on the top edge but they have been there awhile as they are very smooth and the one seems to have some ... moreglaze in it also. The biggest flaw is a crack in the bottom of the bowl going about 1/4 of the way around the bottom. This crack can also be seen on the outside(in pic) This is a great old piece of history and would have great visual appeal for a collection. Important Early Heavily Decorated David Parr Baltimore, MD Stoneware Crock Jar
Up for your consideration is a scarce 1 1/2 gallon Baltimore MD stoneware crock attributed to David Parr Pottery within 1823 to 1832. You don't see them this early pop up very often at all. Heavy cobalt florals decorate all the way around the ovoid form(4 times) Stamped"1 1/2" on the collar with small tab ears for handles.10 3/4" tall.27" around the middle.7" diameter at the mouth and 6 1/4" on the base. Great condition for it's early age even with several small flakes off the rim.one on the handle and a hand size crack on the bottom edge and bottom that is repaired. I'm not sure if the piece was broken out and repaired(with no loss of clay) or just glued to stabilize it. The pot feels perfect and strong. Please check the pictures very careful and draw your own conclusion. I stand behind my description ... moreif you're not satisfied.
