Has an old rust mark from a wire bale on bottom, from a crack that ran up the side, and along bottom, see pics. Crack has been sealed. Bottom looks to have a small fix, can not tell what from, does not go through, fix is over the crack. see pics. 1 ear has a very small chip, other ear has a larger chip. Crock still does ping. Here is a very heavy large old COBALT BLUE DECORATED STONEWARE CROCK. It has an incised" 3" for 3 gallons. Take a close look at the photos especially the top of the rim. There are 4 of what appear to be MAN MADE indentures each about 1 inch wide. I have never seen marks like this. I have no idea what they may have been put there for. If you have seen others like this please let me know. It could identify the potter. On one of them there is a very tight hairline that comes down about 2 inches toward he incised" 3" You man not be able to see it in the photos. There is also another tiny tight line on the bottom running from the edge about 2 inches in. It is tall measuring 1 1/2 inches in height. It measures 8 inches across the top and 8 1/4 ches across the base.BOLD LOOKING VESSEL but I cannot figure out those 4 notches. ... moreHeavy as can be. RARE Wm. Hare Stoneware Crock 7" Wilm. Del. Almost Perfect
Up for sale is a near perfect Wm. Hare stoneware crock. With a rare indentation of his name done nicely probably by his apprentice that clearly shows Wm. Hare, Wilm. Del. This crock has a 1/2t half inch chip on the underside of the top ridge. This chip is very shallow, being about 2 millimeters as best that I can measure. This crock is the most glossy crock that I have ever seen. The most unusual item on this crock is the speckled black and brown dots in the glaze around the top of the crock. This had to be caused by some different element in the salt that was thrown into the kiln during the firing. This crock is 7" tall and is one of the best examples of Wm.Hare's work that I have ever seen survive. This is truly a collector's piece.

This is in pretty nice condition for the age. There is a chip on the bottom as you can see in the photos. On the front above the 2 and under the lip of the crock is a patch where they did not get the glaze completely covered over the stoneware when it was made. A very nice 2Gal. Crock. Clearly stamped: F. B. NORTON& CO. WORCESTER, MASS. This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock, who ran this well-known manufactory 1858-1877. This piece features the Norton signature Stylized Floral design in bold, blue Cobalt. The decoration is quite large, covering the entire front of the Crock. There are additional tendrils and dotted accents on the design that provide nice balance and proportion. This 2Gal. is in excellent overall condition. There are two very faint hairlines: one near the left handle; the other down the backside. Both are insignificant and barely show up in the photos. The interior Albany Slip could use a good cleaning, but otherwise in great shape. Please see photos for details and further description. VTG 1910s 1920s Primitive Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Bucket Cincinnati Ohio
Very interesting salt glazed heavy bucket. Found at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati. Ohio when working on recent renovations. This bucket was black with oil and dust. It was found in the mechanical room where it was used to refill the oilers. It took some doing, but we were able to cut the grime. As you can see, the bucket is in fantastic condition. We estimate its age to be 1910s/1920s era or possibly earlier(the theatre was built in the early 20s and this bucket has been there since that time) The edge has a small lip that comes off of it. There is a tight crack along one side which is typical of this type of crockery. Also some glaze slips- also typical. No maker's marks on the piece. Very nice primitive item. Stands 7 1/4" tall with a 7.5" measurement across at the top and 5" across at the bottom. Wonderful piece of ... morehistory! Applied open handles and evident turning on the interior. It is in excellent condition. You will see a semi-circular hairline in the base which does not go through to the interior. Also, slight clay separation at the handles from firing in the manufacturing process. Otherwise no chips, nicks, or cracks and very little wear. Nice simple early piece in excellent condition. Antique ALBANY SLIP Glazed Stoneware Ovoid Jelly Crock Circa 1870
We are pleased to offer a beautiful antique stoneware ovoid jelly crock. Finished in dark brown Albany Slip glaze. This crock was beautifully formed and has great color. These are hard to find and are great accent pieces. Pottery makers across upstate New York turned out millions of pieces of utilitarian stoneware in the 19th century. It was not considered valuable and as such. Was not preserved or well cared for. Much of it was finished in a dark brown glaze called Albany Slip. The glaze was high in mineral content which accounts for the variations in color- it can be almost black to lighter shades of brown. The firing process caused color variations as well. Many of the pieces show the fingerprints of the pottery who dipped the piece into the glaze before firing. We will be offering a number of these pieces in the coming weeks. For your consideration is a three gallon crock made of stoneware. This crock was manufactured by Red Wing Potteries of Red Wing. Minnesota. This company was previously known as Red Wing Union Stoneware(1906-1936) and was originally known as Red Wing Stoneware(1877-1906) Part of Red Wing Potteries production was stoneware until 1947. This crock has a Red Wing that is 2" long. This crock is slightly more than 10 3/4" tall and the bottom is approximately 9 7/8" in diameter. This crock has a crack that is approximately 13" long. This crack starts at the rim and is vertical for 3-4" then curves until it is almost horizontal when it ends. There are chips associated with this crack. Antique Louisville Potteries Butter Churn Crock Stoneware. Cherokee #3. Nice!
I have for sale an antique Louisville Potteries butter churn. From early 1900's( It is 14 inches tall. And has 9 inches diameter. The lid doesn't site quite tight. I'm not sure if it was made that way. There is a small little blob just below number"3" is wiped off clean. It was just a paint drop. last photo) There is a small 1/4" chip on the bottom side of the lid. There are no repaired areas. As far as I can tell. It's a very nice butter churn. Thanks for looking! Vintage Price Bristol Stoneware Crock Jug with advertising Nice!
For your bidding pleasure I am offering an excellent example of Price Bristol Stoneware. This jug measures approximately 12 inches high X 7 inches in diameter. With a 1 inch hole opening. I really can't find any flaws on this. The Price Bristol impression, isn't very deep as you can see part of Price does not show up. I don't know the age of this. But I'm guessing at least 72 years old, because wha t little research I did. Says there was no more production after 1940. Antique Stoneware Butter Crock This brown& white crock is from about 1920. My grandmother had this in her house. My father was born in 1913 and remembers this crock in the kitchen when he was 7 or 8 years of age. The crock is glazed and the glaze is in very good condition. There are no cracks in this piece. The crock weighs almost 6 lbs. and is 8" tall x 8 1/2" wide. Use in your vintage style decor. This is a versatile item. Use it to store your kitchen utensils such as wooden spoons. Rolling pins, whisks. This can also be used for plants either in the garden or in the home. I can see this item going well with a cottage style. Country, folk, and especially the southern country style.
