ANTIQUE GILT FRENCH SPELTER FIGURAL SAILOR MANTLE CLOCK
Beautiful Antique Gold Gilt Spelter Figural Sailor Mantle Clock. This is a clock that we recently purchased at an Estate Sale. We were told it is an Antique Gold Gilt Spelter Figural mantle Clock. The clock has a Sailor Hoisting a drink in the air. From his attire he could be French or English. There is also an Anchor and coiled rope on top of the clock. It is very ornate. There is some a little greenish tarnish on top of the clock. We do not clean items. We leave them as we buy them and leave that to the discretion of the buyer. it appears almost all of the gold gilt is intact. There are a couple of repairs made to the clock. The first is the top most piece which seems to have been re-attached. Also it appears one of the legs has been repaired. The clock is working. It has a porcelain dial which has some hairline cracks. There is no glass ... moreover the dial and it does not appear to have ever had one. The movement does not seem to be the original and there is no back plate or cover on the clock. I contacted one of the best forums on Clocks and watches and they feel the case could possibly be P.H. Mouret since it is similar to his style. They noted that the movement could be French or German and appears to be similar to those found in small wall clocks. In any case this is a beautiful working clock that can be enjoyed or possibly used as parts for someone that is building a clock similar to this. It does include the key for winding. Awesome French, AD. Mougin, Gilded Spelter Soldier Statue Clock
Awesome. French Statue Clock It's about 16" tall and 16" wide. Early AD Mougin. Time Strike Movement Cleaned and Polished Alabaster Case Inserts This nice clock works perfectly and keeps excellent time! We are pleased to include this very nice antique French clock in this week's auctions. We have had this clock for several years now. Sitting on a shelf in my shop. I recently decided to clean it up, clean and service the movement and refinish the case. The soldier statue and the two lion case decorations have not been refinished and as a result have a darker, metallic patina. The coat of arms decorations on top of the clock case retains its original gilding and I think I succeeded in duplicating the golden color when I refinished the case. The AD. Mougin. Deux Medailles, 8-Day Time/ Strike movement is original to the case ... moreand should date the clock to about 1890. It is marked with the numbers: 33 736. The convex porcelain dial and convex beveled glass door are very nice with no chips or cracks. You can see the faded word"Nancy" that was originally painted on the dial face. The fancy brass hands are original to the clock. The Pendulum and Key are replacements. The glass insert for the back door is missing, but that should be readily available from Time Savers if you wanted it. The combined weight of the box and clock should be about 25 lbs. Up for auction is a beautiful antique spelter Roman Soldier clock top ornament from an antique Waterbury clock. I found a VERY close top decoration in the Waterbury Clocks Illustrated Catalog. He is close to the"Bard" except he is holding a trumpet instead of a Lute. Obviously the same sculptor created both figures. He is all spelter finished but there are hints of red so he may have had a reddish finish. The detail is incredible as he holds a trumpet and flag. Great uniform! All the folds are well cast. Measures 6 1/4" wide x 8" tall x 3 1/2" deep. This would complete a beautiful clock! There is no mounting hardware so that would have to be fabricated to attach to a clock. For sale is a very very old and rare brass and marble clock. What you see I'd what you get. Is missing the pendulum and key. I did wind it and it does work. Tick, chime. Pendulum and keys are not hard to find. In great shape for age. Has hand painted front. Comes with two side vase. The clock measures 20"x6"x12" Comes with a couple minor scuffs, scratches and wear. Large Antique Spelter Statue - Horse and Roman Warrior - Masculine
Large spectacular antique spelter Roman Soldier on horseback. Good quality casting unmarked measures 19" high x 12" long x 5" wide. Some original black painted finish is still there although you can see by the photos it is spotty. There is a large shield mounted under the horse that has a fleur-de-lis on the front. There is a mace. Battle axe, sword and other weapons shown on the shield. He holds the reins in this left hand and raises the long handled axe in his right. The warrior is in great shape as is the horse. The wooden oval base is also painted black with 4 round wood feet or pads. There is a screw in the middle with a washer and a nut on it. I removed the wooden oval bottom to see if the piece was marked. It is not marked and the base of the statue is hollow. This may have been a clock topper at one time, but it would ... morehave had to be a really big clock. I would leave the finish as it is- great patina. But you may want to have it repainted. For your consideration is a vintage art nouveau spelter figural statue with the most impressive size nearly 3 feet tall. This would make a fine statement for any room. The lovely maiden dressed in a flowing gown is just stunning. She would work perfect as a newel post or as an entrance piece on a pedistal. She is double signed on base as shown- Ranieri. These statues were blanks that were then electrified which one can easily wire up to her hand and use as a torch lamp. The statue shows wear typical of age and use to the patina easily touched up. But as you can see displays beautifully with its aged character. These are so hard to come by in such a rare size. One could very easily convert her into a torch lamp if you chose.
