Monumental Victorian Nouveau Bronze Patinated Spelter Figural Lady Newel Lamp
Offered for your consideration is a very large newel lamp of the finest quality formed by a neoclassical art nouveau lady lifting a vessel atop her head. From which 5 vines emerge with lighted flowers at their tips. She stands on a black wooden plinth. I suspect that the base metal is spelter, due to the weight, but perhaps it's bronze. The lamp is monumental in size, about 50 1/2" high by 16" wide. The piece is in remarkably good condition. It looks like portions of some leaves may be missing on the vines and around the sockets at the top. The only other possible flaw I see is a line across the base of the woman's toes on her left proper foot where they join her draped robe/gown. It may have been there from the time of casting. As it shows evidence of age. The wooden base shows a line from shrinkage over time, but is still ... morecompletely stable. The patination is lovely, with only minimal signs of wear, likely the result of a century of cleaning& polishing by previous owners. The wiring was recently professionally updated/replaced with fine silk cord and a new plug. I do not believe that the lamp originally had coordinating shades. Per se; I suspect that regular light bulbs were used. As its purpose was to provide useful illumination. Alternatively, a variety of old and reproduction bulbs& bulb covers are available from various sources, if you do not already have them and care for that"look" If you are the winning bidder. Lovely. Vintage Spelter? Metal Silvertone/Goldtone Pair of Geese Duck Sculpture/Figurines. I say silvertone/goldtone because in certain lighting they can look silver or gold and the beeks are silver. Possibly have been coated at one time with gold gilt. Head up Goose/Duck measures approximately 9 1/4" long and 5 3/4" at tallest part. Head down Goose/Duck measures about 8 1/2" long and is about 4 1/2" at tallest part. Very detailed work showing their feathers and webbed feet. On the bottom there is a red and gold foil sticker which looks like it says: Made In Italy, but very difficult to make out. Together they weigh about 2.75 pounds. These were purchased at a charity sale, therefore, I do not know any more information. Antique Victorian Spelter Statue Classical Violin Violinist Clock Topper
This is an antique Victorian spelter statue sculpture of a classical violin violinist which may have been a clock topper. It probably dates from the late 19th century. Including the bow. It stands 14 inches tall(35.6 cm) Without the bow, it stands 12 1/2 inches tall(31.8 cm) The base measures 4 1/4 inches x 5 1/4 inches(10.8 cm x 13.3 cm) You don't see many old statues of a violinist. This may have been a clock topper at one time. But I can't be sure of that. It has great detail on it. It was painted with a brownish color. Giving it a bronze look, though it is actually spelter. I'm convinced this is the original paint. The bow is a bit crooked and has a break where it meets the violin. However. It's still very sturdy against the violin. There are scattered areas of missing paint. Most notably on his knee, rear elbow and in ... morethe rear bottom. Spelter Victorian Nouveau Figural Boy Lamp - A Great Find!
FEATURED IS A SOUGHT-AFTER Antique Figural Spelter Table Lamp Victorian Child Boy Walking/ Strolling Art Nouveau- An original Victorian piece Measures 20 1/2 inches tall. The base diameter is 4 1/2 inches. The open top globe diameter is 4 inches. This is a beautiful antique figural lamp of a young boy who is very similar in appearance to"Blue Boy" The glass shade has a satin or frosted finish. Very smooth great quality, there are starburst and a floral designs either cut or etched into the glass. There are a few small chips around the fitter end which would not be evident when the shade is on the lamp. The fitter size of the shade is 3 1/8" The total height of the lamp(including the shade) is approx. 23" The overall appearance of the boy is very good. Though there are some condition issues, the boy's leg has been repaired ... moreand there are a few small patches showing on the inside of the metal base(they are not noticeable from the outside) His nose is dented a little as well, so this is not a perfect piece. But none of the imperfections interfere with the overall appearance of this beautiful Victorian lamp. The original cloth covered cord has had a more recent cord attached near the base of the lamp. There is black electrical tape around it. The lamp has a pull chain for turning off or on. The lamp is working excellent. The marble portions of the clock are in very good condition with jet black color and only a few very small chips on the edges(see photos) The metalwork has several issues as follows: it has been completely repainted; there is a repair on the woman's wrist near the bird(photo) that is barely visible; the back cover is not original. The 8 day time and strike clockworks are not marked but are in the high quality French tradition of Japy Freres. They are very clean. Complete and run very well. The clock chime strikes once on the half-hour and tolls the hours on a pleasant sounding bell chime. Overall this clock is in good antique condition with the noted metalwork ... moredamage. Very Rare--Antique very old Metal Spelter Decorative Faux Ewer
Beautifully painted and finished in brass. It measures 15 1/2" tall. Is in very good condition. 3 of the leaves on the bottom of the pitcher, just above the base, are missing but not noticeable. No dents or dings. I believe this is made between 1850 to 1899 and it is made in france but I can not confirm it. This ewer looks beautiful and will add a nice antique to your collection. It is a metal spelter lamp that has much of its original paint and has a great old look to it. There are some minor dings in the metal and the shade has one chip on the upper rim that I tried to show in one of the photos. There are also some minor chips on the flange base of the shade. Although the cord is frayed it does light but I would recommend having it rewired. The lamp measures about 13 1/2" to the top of the shade. Antique Art Deco Pot Metal Spelter Boudoir Lamp #633
Rare. Beautiful, small table or boudoir lamp. It's made of pot metal or spelter, and is painted gold with red and green highlights. Art nouveau pattern. Has nicks and chips out of the paint, very cool looking. Dates likely to around the 1930's. Has brass Levition socket with paddle switch, and includes harp and brass finial. Measurements: 15 1/2" tall from bottom to top of finial. 9" tall from bottom to top of socket. 6 1/4" tall from bottom just to top of pot metal column. Base is 4" diameter. All parts seem to be same age. But I am not sure this would be the original socket and harp. This lamp actually looks like one that would take a slag glass or bent glass shade. You could easily replace harp and socket. Still, super cool. This will be partially disassembled for shipping. Excludes light bulb.

1800's Beaux Arts Onyx, Gilt Spelter Clock; Baroque Form, Excellent Running,
This clock. Along with several other antique clocks which we inherited and will probably be listing as well, was inspected by an antique clock dealer. Although I appreciate the beauty and sounds of antique mechanical clocks, I am not an expert in any way. I will give you all the information I have and if you need more photos, please contact me. We were advised to have the clocks cleaned and serviced. So. This clock was recently completely"overhauled" and cleaned by a professional clock master. It runs well; the chimes don't quite correspond with the hands on the clock, but that should be a minor adjustment; the chimes work well and sound beautifully. This clock is a fabulous Beaux Arts Onyx and gilt Spelter French clock from the 1800's. It has an ornate hand painted porcelain face. All in Baroque Form. Clock works well and ... morethe pendulum is present(although I cannot seem to find the proper key-we did have the key for this clock and if I find it, it will be sent should the auction be successful; the clock master who overhauled the clock did not want the key, and I thought I put it with all the other clocks and their keys) It does not seem to have a maker's marking on it, but I was told that this was common with French clocks. There are three holes drilled in the top of the clock surface for attaching the topper. Please note that this topper is not bolted to the base. The clock topper figure is a 1800's Beaux Arts casting in gilt Spelter of a small child. Seemingly repeating school lessons from an open book on the child's lap. This might or might not have been the original clock topper; we cannot be sure, but it does go well with this clock. It is about 10 inches tall, and is in very good condition with not cracks or repairs. Antique Scottie Bookends Onyx Base Art Deco Bronze over Spelter Scottish Terrier
This is a fabulous pair of 1930's Art Deco Scottish Terrier bookends from Crescent Manufacturing. They are extremely heavy due to the Brazilian onyx bases coupled with the bronze plated spelter Scotties. The bases are 5.25" x 2.25" and the overall height to the top of each dog's ears is about 3.75" tall. These scotties are highly stylized in the Art Deco manner with clean lines which emphasize the strong lines of the Scottie's body. I love the way the sculptor created the look of the coat with a few well placed lines. The whole concept just works so well and is so indicative of the period. The bases are made from Brazilian onyx. A natural stone that was extremely popular to use for end tables, book ends, etc. from about the turn of the century through the early 1950's. Unfortunately, it has a lot of veining ... morewhich is prone to chipping. So, one of the bases is in very good condition with some nicks around the corners and edges, due to use over the years. The other has a small chunk missing where there is a larger vein and the crack in the onyx goes under the terrier's belly to the other side. However, The dog is firmly bolted to both sides of the onyx piece and there is no movement or wiggling when you pick it up so it is still a solid bookend. I'm probably making this sound a lot worse than it is but I wanted to point out this flaw. This is still a remarkable pair of bronze plated bookends for the dog fancier. For the antique bookend collector, for the bibliophile, for the Marguerite Kirmse collector, etc. and will look great on the bookshelf in almost any room in the house or office. VERY RARE! Set of 2 Antique Ansonia STATUES- LORD& LADY" Material: Spelter Age: 1904 Reference: Ansonia Clocks and Watches. Ly, Page 675, No. 2904& 2905 Overall Size: 25" High approx. Base diameter is 9" Description: These are very large. Not to be confused with the smaller Spelter statues that Ansonia offered for sale. They are quite impressive and are much larger in person than they appear in the photos. We included a photo of the Lord statue next to one of Ansonia's standard sized statues(the Fisherman) for size comparison. The smaller Fisherman statue is NOT included. The Lord and Lady are among the largest and rarest of the Ansonia statues. The chance of seeing one or both of these ever again. Especially in this condition would be very unlikely. It is amazing that these survived as a pair their entire life. ... moreThe casting is an extremely high quality. With a great amount of detail you will not find with most other statue makers of the era. Ansonia's chief designer for the time was Henry Davies, and as you can see, he was a master craftsman. This is the"Lord and Lady" pair and they stand a whopping 25" high with a base diameter of 9" and are extremely detailed from head to toe. Even the bases are highly detailed with lots of scroll work. You can see the"Lord" Or more commonly called a"swashbuckler or swordsman" handing the beautiful"Lady" a bouquet of flowers as she is reaching out to take them into her hand. Both statues were also offered as a fixed statue on a clock base. Which in themselves are nearly impossible to find(Ansonia called them Suitor and Countess when offered as statue clocks) You can reference them on Page 148, No. 462/463. Both of the statues are complete and outstanding with the following minor exceptions. About a half inch of the end of Lord's scabbard is broken off and missing. It is a simple round shape and would be an easy fix. The sword is to the rear of the statue so it cannot be seen in from the front.

Up for auction is a gorgeous pair of antique 1920's-40's Art Nouveau figural spelter table lamps refinished in matte powder gold. These lamps have two semi nude water nymphs holding water/wine jugs on their shoulders and leaning on fences. Draped around there heads are alternating old crystals that match perfectly on both lamps. There is a Greek or Polynesian feel to the figures with wine leaf dress and bead necklaces. Old style paper& dripping wax covers are on the old sockets that work great. Old wire still in good condition with two added roller switches to turn on an off. This pair of exotic lamps would look great as sideboard lamps in a fancy dining room but their over the top design would look great anywhere.
