Vintage Italian Butterfly Pietra Dura Plaque The plaque itself measures 3.75 x 2.25 inches With the frame it measures 5.125 x 3.50 inches For sale is a lovely vintage Italian pietra dura plaque. The frame is solid. But it does have some wear, chipping, and a few rough spots and edges. The plaque is excellent overall, but it has a small chip loss to the butterfly left wing tip(please see photos) Even so, it still displays beautifully, with the flaw seeming to blend in with the overall vintage look. I think this is one of the best looking butterfly plaques I've seen. Even including the more well known and signed pieces of the era. just one opinion of course. Thanks for looking.

1890 Italian Pietra Dura Mosaic Table Signed This listing is for a fantastic quality Pietra Dura antique table made around 1890. The top has brilliant colors and is inlaid with flowers with great detail. The top is hexagonal in shape. And likely Italian. Usually the case, as they exported them to various countries, which then had their own bases made. I think this base is English made, as it has what looks like a Royal Crown with the initials R H. I am not sure who or what exactly this represents, but it sure means something! The other unusual thing about this table is that the whole table is made from slate. Shaped with three legs leading to paw feet, and a base with rope turning. This is a quite a masterpiece which took some serious craftsmanship! Pietra Dura is a term for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted. Highly-polished coloured stones to create images. The stonework, after the work is assembled loosely, is glued stone-by-stone to a substrate after having previously been sliced and cut in different shape sections; and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between each section was practically invisible. Sometimes the various cut sections are slotted into a marble ground directly.

It is composed of four rectangular panels of pietra dura depicting flowers. Each within a silver frame with scroll and filigree and a working catch. The frame is silver(probably.800) it is not marked, but shows the aging of solid silver rather than the wear of plating. Pietra Dura is a form of mosaic used by Italian jewelers in the 1800-1910 period. The depictions are made by cutting out parts of the picture directly from colored stones and fitting them in a mosaic. It differs from, and is more complicated than, regular mosaic, which uses bits of colored stones in clusters to form a picture. The 4 stone panels are each 1 inch long& 1/2 of an inch wide, it is 8 inches long, not including the clasp, and it is in very good condition, no stains, marks or loose stones. In very good condition with all the pieces intact and flat to the surface. THIS WONDERFUL SET WAS MADE BETWEEN 1885 AND 1905 AND IS IN GREAT SHAPE. ALL THE STONES ARE TIGHT AND IN PLACE. THE COLORS OF GREEN. WHITE AND VIOLET WERE USED AS A SILENT BUT VERY WELL UNDERSTOOD MESSAGE IN VICTORIAN TIMES AND GREEN= GIVE, WHITE= WOMEN, VIOLET= VOTE. GIVE WOMEN the VOTE WAS CLEARLY THE MESSAGE YOU WERE SENDING TO EVERYONE WHO ADMIRED YOUR LOVELY JEWELRY ENSEMBLE. Monumental Black Marble Center Table with Gilt Pedestal faux Pietra Dura rare He
I think this beautiful one-of-a-kind hand-painted hexagonal faux Pietra Dura style black marble table would look great in your home. Round and octagonal tabletops are easy to find; a hexagon is uncommon. It was custom-made. And is approximately 55" wide and 31" tall, is of vintage character(made in the 70s, to the best of my knowledge) and in excellent condition. I would call the pedestal style Louis XV. It is used, so there may be a scratch or dent on the tabletop or the gilded pedestal, but I didn't notice any. The pictures do a better job of describing it than I can. Fine tall Grand Tour Marble Obelisk Pietra Dura Roma Flowers thermometer Base
Antique Fine Grand Tour Marble Obelisk with Pietra Dura inlay florals on the base and oblong trim along the top sides. The obelisk had contained a thermometer insert within the center which is now gone. I found a number of these pictured with the thermometer but they did not seem to have the trim details seen here. The obelisk is tall. 13-3/4" high, weighing almost 4 pounds. The top is separately carved and created from the base so perhaps they would be used separated in the future with the bottom supporting something else. Offered as is for re-purpose. Normal signs of age with some very small edge nicks but no obvious damage or breaks other than the need for a new insert be it another thermometer or something decorative and creative. The handsome design of the rosewood veneer box features ornate brass corner accents framing a delicate pietra dura floral lily mosaic inlay. The lid lifts to reveal a multi-compartment interior with a blue satin lined lid. There is a brass label inside on the interior marked as Piper Exeter. In overall very good condition with losses to the veneer on the lid sides and corners as pictured. There is a crack to the veneer on the front of the lid leading to the loss on the side. There is some wear to the finish on the brass elements. The lid does not close and clasp completely with a small gap remaining. The fabric on the inside of the lid ... moreis a bit stained and some of the letter box dividers are out of place. There is a minute loss to the bottom of the stem on the inlay. The key is lost to the ages. This condition is consistent with age and use. Measures 7 1/2" to the top of the back of the box and 5 5/8" in the front. 5 3/4" wide x 9 1/2" long.
