This is an indivudual Porcelain Oyster Dish. It measures appx. 4 1/2" long and stands abuut 1 1/2" high. It is designed to look like an oyster shell. And is shell like on the outside. This dish does have several tiny flea bite chips(almost unnoticeable) along the rim.otherwise in good condition. It has nub feet. The outside is a graduated tan to white color. The inside has a paint spot that is meant to depict where the mussle attaches. I know it is meant to be there, as I have others, all with the same spot. My research indicates that the piece was made between 1882 and 1900. I found this information at eHow: Look for Mark C-3 on pieces from 1882. These are marked with a"CFH" on top of a horizontal line and a"GDM" underneath that same line. The GDM is written upside-down when the CFH is right-side up, and vice versa. This is a a beautiful Haviland Limoge bone china oyster plate in excellent condition. The design features delicate flowers in a very soft pale blue and soft dusty pink or peach. The plate measures 7-5/8" and has a slightly fluted edge with five wells for oysters. Markings on the back include"H&CoL France" Haviland& Co. and"I.T. Bowman& Sons Cleveland Ohio. This indicates the plate was made by Haviland Limoges Co. in France for the I.T. Bowman Co in Cleveland. Ohio( a department store, I believe) sometime between 1876-1930. Rare UPW Union Porcelain Works Oyster 6 Well Plate American USA Porzellan Teller
For sale is the rarest of the oyster plates made by the Union Porcelain Works around 1881. It is nicely shaped and modeled with seaweed and shells in relief as well as a gold trim. Nice pink and a little light blue color on this one! This size and shape is the hardest to find and the most valuable. These are highly collectible and really quite nice. American porcelain after all is much less common than its European counterparts. The plate has six wells for oysters as well as one shell for the sauce. It has some fun items painted or in relief like a red crab. A blue frog, a pink crab claw and a few shells. Hard to see it all in the pictures. The plate is in perfect condition with a tiny bit of wear and a small firing crack on the front one side that does not go to the backside so it is very shallow and glazed over. Exquisite Turquoise 1800's Minton Majolica Oyster Plate Form 1323
Exquisite antique Minton oyster plate made in England in approximately 1875 using Minton mold# 1323. The six outer wells are glazed with turquoise and the inner well has an exquisite emerald green iridescent glaze. Beautifully decorated with shells and seaweed. Size: Approximately 9 inches Condition: Please view all photos carefully. I tried to photograph all flaws so there are no surprises. The plate has crazing consistent with age. 1"well" has a white clay bump that is approx. 1/16th of an inch. And a green glaze mark that look to be original. Another well has a tiny bump in the glaze. Another well has some medium gray spotting. Another well edge is missing some turquoise glaze perhaps from wear.Rim is smooth except for one minor rough spot in the brown glaze that measures less than 1/16th of an inch. No chips in foot base. Stilt ... moremarks are visible. Maker Marks: Raised British registration tab under glaze. Impression marks: Minton" 1323" A" V" and another pair of initials I'm not certain of. Your bid is for a beautiful vintage French Majolica oyster plate measuring 10" in diameter. This oyster plate has a stamped signature on it as well as'5896 F' impressed in it. This dish retains its rich. Vibrant color and heavy glaze but is slightly'as is' in that it has two shallow under-the-rim chips and has a tight hairline. Still in solid, display-worthy condition.
