Rare large Musical demi lune inlaid marquetry lidded hall jewellry card table
Beautiful size and and nice quality Sorrento ware style inlaid demi lune table with hinged lid. The music box wind-up key underneath is shown in the picture. The music movement is by'Simo' of Florence. It's in great order and sounds really nice. It plays the song"Love is a many splendored thing" as sung by Andy Williams. Dimensions in CMs: H64 x W66.5 x D33. This has a lovely look to it and I have not come across another demi lune of this type or quality before. It has a very nice central floral inlay on the table lid. And in addition inlay on the Queen Anne style legs and banded inlay on the main table body which gives it a higher quality look and feel. ANTIQUE LOUIS XV RARE CURVED WRITING DESK SECRETARY MARQUETRY INLAY BRONZE MOUNT
We are pleased to offer this EXQUISITE. Antique(early 20thC) French, Louis XV, ladies, petite desk/secretary with hutch. The pieces are burled mahogany and rosewood veneer. They are oval(the hutch is demilune) and there is a decorative bottom stretcher that is large enough to function as a shelf. Both the desk and the hutch feature EXCEPTIONAL. Marquetry inlay with unique patterns. The patterns are urns, ewers and flower pots accented with leaves and flowers. These are somewhat"ancient, earthenware" looking patterns, instead of the usual, more formal, marquetry designs. The marquetry is abundant and is present on the front, sides, bottom stretcher, as well as on the top of the table and the top of the hutch. The back profile of the hutch is a grained, rosewood veneer. The desk features a center drawer with old, dove tail joints. ... moreThe hutch features a center, open storage area, two side storage areas with doors, and a center drawer. The doors are hinged with brass hinges and are fixed with brass, flat head screws. There are ornate, bronze mounts on the front legs and the front feet. The hutch has two holes underneath which fit into wooden dowels located on the table top. The finish more of a satin/matte rather than extremely glossy. There are no makers marks or stamps on either piece. Both pieces are in good condition. Structurally. They are very good and they are very sturdy. There are some cosmetic blemishes with some scratches and chips. These are not terribly severe or distracting and most of them can be resolved. As it is, the desk is quite beautiful with a slightly aged character. This is an unusual piece with fabulous marquetry design. The piece measures as follows: When together. The secretary is 47" tall, 36.25" wide and 23" front to back. The hutch is 15" tall, 36.25" wide and 13" front to back. The intricate pattern is absolutely gorgeous and the table top edges are in excellent condition. I simply don't have the room in my house to keep it. The top opens to reveal storage and it also has a music box that plays Santa Lucia. There are some light scratches in the finish but they are only on the surface and do not touch the wood. I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage original hand made Lift Top Sewing Box. It measures approx 11-14" x 10-1/4" x 5" tall. Not positive. But I believe the wood to be mahogany. The craftsman ship on the exterior is of superior quality- the hand carving is very detailed done by a master craftsman, the interior is much more simple- crudely made. The piece is in Excellent Condition- its all original and estate fresh. Very clean original finish and no damages and wear is very light. Antique 19th Century Dutch Marquetry China Cabinet
Our magnificent dutch marquetry china cabinet measuring 60" wide x 21" deep overall x 881/2" high sits atop a three draw bombe chest. The entire piece of furniture is delicately covered with floral and leaf inlay of fruit and elm woods. The sides of the piece display an urn with lion head handles. Flower& leaves, a bird and a butterfly. Upon close inspection you can see the non decorated areas of the piece are very beautiful and full of character. The inside of the cabinet has been professionally lined in a pale mint cotton moire fabric and rimmed the edge of the two shelves. Antique Victorian Tantalus ca 1860 French~Marquetry~Inlaid Work~Cherub~Gorgeous
Up for your consideration today is a beautiful French Tantalus with cherub marquetry. Ebonized accents, etched glass decanter and glasses, circa 1860. It is all mahogany with ebony around the edges and further decorated with inlaid details. There are cherub marquetry on the top and front of the tantalus and around the top edges there is an inlaid border. It is absolutely gorgeous and the condition is certainly excellent considering the age. There are some minor cracks in the wood but nothing serious- just want to describe as accurately as possible so you will know what to expect. Some light scratches and some missing stain on a couple of tips on the lift out holder. Again, nothing serious- could easily be touched up if desired. All of the decanters and stoppers are original to the tantalus with no damage. Walnut The Walnut woods are probably the most recognisable and popular of all the exotic woods. Having been used in furniture making for many centuries. Walnut veneer was highly priced and the cost would reflect the‘fanciness’ of the veneer– the more decorative, then the more expensive and desirable. Figured Walnut and Burr Walnut(often referred to as Burl Walnut) were considered as the most attractive varieties of Walnut. Burr Walnut veneer was taken from the specific part of the tree where‘growths’ sprouting smaller branches and/ or roots would occur. As these‘growth’ areas were limited in both occurrence and size. Larger veneers were hard to source and often on bigger furniture(tables, desks, bureaus, cabinets etc) these veneers would have to be carefully joined by matching up the pieces or blending them together. Marquetry is decorative artistry where pieces of material(such as wood. Mother of pearl, pewter, brass silver or shell) of different colours are inserted into surface wood veneer to form intricate patterns such as scrolls or flowers. The te

Art Deco ILE DE FRANCE Marquetry Bed from Suite - NAUTIQUES sHiP WORLDWIDE
French Line: From the trend-setting ILE DE FRANCE. A lovely marquetry full-size bed from one of the suites. The bed is an outstanding example of the ship's Art Deco decor. John Maxtone-Graham calls the ILE DE FRANCE"the great divide from which point ocean liner decorators reached forward rather than back. The headboard and footboard feature book-matched crotch mahogany with inserted Japanese ash squares forming a checkered pattern. The frame is oak. The footboard also has an extended curving skirt base. There are heavy oak side rails and cross supports. A custom-made plywood box fits into the space and raises newly manufactured mattress to the proper height. The bed is very comfortable. I see a few pencil markings on back but nothing that indicates a cabin or shipyard number. Fitted onto the footboard is a little brass plaque with ... morethe ship's name. It is called a"Darcy Plaque" after Gene Darcy. The visionary who traveled the country in the early 1970s selling off china and furniture from the QUEEN MARY. According to an April 15, 1972, article in The New York Times, Darcy's"Store of the QUEENS" was such a success that the French Line offered him a warehouse of their left-over furniture. I believe that is where this bed comes from. Other than a few light scratches. The bed is in excellent condition. IL- Far west Chicago suburbs) UP FOR AUCTION: A gorgeous. Vintage-to-antique, Louis XV-style, inlaid, carved walnut end or side table. It is. I think, absolutely stunning. The cabriole legs are ever so gracefully carved, with Art Nouveau curving swags, foliage and overturned bellflowers. The cross-stretchers are carved as well, adorned with a carved finial; the curvy skirt/apron, carved in a shell and floral theme. The inlaid or marquetry serpentine-edge top is exquisite, with a scrolling floral pattern, in different exotic hardwoods-I'm not sure of all the wood species, but it has a wonderful burled border, and I think, mahogany and satinwood. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's ... morelikely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. And it has wonderful patina and character. I think the legs and apron/skirt are solid walnut, and the top likely walnut and assorted veneers over a secondary hardwood. It comes with a custom-cut. 3/16"thick, glass top. It's beautiful! CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in very nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy-the joints seem tight. For it's probable age, it seems to me in wonderful condition. I really don't see much by way of nicks and scratches. The glass top has alot of small nicks or fleabites along the edges and some scratches, but, overall, they all appear very minor, and I don't really see any flaws to the glass unless I'm looking for them. Otherwise. The only flaws I can see are on the top. While overall I think the top is in wonderful condition for its age(that's probably largely attributable to the glass top-I suspect it was used) it does have two flaws: 1) There are slightly raised splits or cracks in the veneer. Vintage Indian Wood & Bone Inlay Marquetry 1960
For your consideration. This rustic and elegant marquetry wood inlay piece from the 1960's that was found at a wealthy estate sale in Baton Rouge. It was created in India and has the subject matter of a shepherd girl tending a flock of goats. The craftsmanship is excellent and this one is quite a bit more colorful than most. I have counted at least 6 different exotic woods. It would serve as a nice piece of folk art from a far away land hanging on your wall! It has been used for about 50 years. So there are some minimal scratches and rubbed places on it that are consistent with age(please, zoom in on the pics) but it is in overall great shape and would display nicely.

The only flaw I could find is a real tiny nick on the top piece of the frame- it is so small I doubt any one would notice, but I tell always try to tell you everything I can. This is a great gift for a hunter to put in his office or den. Unknown maker or country. But possibly made by a craftsman in Sun City Arizona, as I found it there and they have a great woodworking shops there and sell a lot of handcrafted items. I combine shipping. A small vintage Mexico or Central American Marquetry Scene of a Campesino with Oxcart in inlaid exotic woods. With finely inlaid border. Self framed. No signature. Beautiful work. Probably 1940s in age. The back of this picture has a price of 6.50 in pencil, not sure what currency. Unusual to see this type of Inlay with this theme. SIZE: 8-1/8" x 6-1/2"the scene is 5-1/4" x 3-1/4" CONDITION: Very good condition. There is a 3/8" chip on the left side of the frame, shown in pictures. There is overall crazing of the woods but no lifted pieces and no losses. The varnish has mellowed with time and gives a very nice appearance to the picture. This piece is hung by tacks and string. One of the tacks, left side has pierced the front of the picture. It could be removed and hung differently. Up for sale is a piece of art. It is unsigned. This is a very fine example of straw marquetry. It looks like diamond cut out wood shavings that have been assembled perfectly. I bought this at an auction to resell because I think it is just beautiful. The straw seems to be placed over a Linen material The frame and matting are well done by Clapp and Tuttle. I thought it was interesting that the example of straw marquetry in Wikipedia is the picture below. Notice how similar the wikipedia picture is to the one that I am selling. It looks like the male counterpart to this picture. Straw marquetry is a craft very similar to that of wood. Except ... morethat straw replaces the. Antique 19th C Inlaid Marquetry Wood Document Box- Scenic Hinged Top, Lock
Offered here is an antique inlaid wood marquetry and scenic top document box. With a landscape scene on the top in contrasting woods. Marquetry frame surround and banding on the sides, this is a handsome box. Very nice craftsmanship and detail are seen throughout. It has a hinged lid and lock and all hardware looks original. The finish also looks original and shows expected wear. Scuffs and small dings consistent with normal use. There are a couple small pieces of inlay work that are missing- nothing major. A small split in the bottom piece of wood is evident on the right side. Both hinges work well. All screws are tight, and there are no loose pieces. A nail can be seen coming through the middle back interior from the bottom. There are holes in the bottom corners which indicate some feet that were there at one time. The pictures show the ... morecondition. There is no makers mark that was found. No key for the lock. Measurements are 12 3/4" wide x 8 7/8" deep x 3 3/8" high. BEAUTIFUL PAN SATYR ITALIAN MARQUETRY INLAID FRUIT WOOD EXPAND BOOKRACK BOOKENDS
This is a lovely Italian bookrack made of Fruitwood. The subjects are two Pans or Satyrs flanking a large vase and surrounded by flowers and vines. The rack measures 6" tall. 4 1/2" wide and is 15" in length but expands to 21" It weighs 1.24 pounds unpacked. One end is not perfectly straight up and down but could possibly adjust the bracket and has some small nicks on the bottom edge. Other a tiny crack, some small fading which shows its age and was marked underneath it is in wonderful condition and would look terrific in any decor!
