Superb "Windmills" Floral Marquetry London Longcase clock C1725
A fabulous Floral Marquetry and Walnut longcase clock by the world renowned maker Windmill& Wightman. Dating to around 1725. The clock is in good and full working order chiming the hours, and keeping excellent time. The beautiful case is in totally original condition. The long case door with a moulded edge, and with a lovely floral marquetry panel and made from various exotic woods on a Walnut background consisting of various marquetry motifs including flowers. Leaves, scrolls, birds, butterflies and even musical instruments! The door has its old lock and working key behind the Brass key escutcheon, and the oval glass lenticle inside the brass surround to the centre, shows off the brass pendulum bob which can be seen swinging"to and fro" through the glass. The frame around the door is also profusely inlaid with floral marquetry, ... moreand even the mouldings have floral marquetry. The base section also has a lovely detailed marquetry panel of musical instruments including a violin, harp, pipes and french horn etc, and the clock stands on a double moulded plinth at only 84 inches in total height. The sides of the case and hood are also profusely inlaid, and it has it's original backboard. The hood with a large upper moulding below the small caddy top. The glazed hood door with lovely trailing marquetry around its frame. And with turned Walnut and inlaid pillars with brass capitals, at each side. The sides of the hood with a glass viewing aperture window, through which the working movement can be seen, and with further quartered pillars with brass capitals to the rear of the hood. The superb Brass and Silvered dial is in very good condition and is simply stunning. The silvered chapter ring has Roman Numerals for the hours, inside an outer minute ring, and with an inner"quarter hour" marking that stems from the early single handed dials and movements, and with half hour"fleur du lys" markings between the hours. This is a Vintage Wood Japanese Marquetry Playing Card Box along with a Double Deck Mint of Sealed Cards. The box is beautifully decorated on the lid with a traditional Japanese scene of a house on the shore. A boat on the water, and Mt. Fuji in the background. The four sides are each decorated with marquetry designs as well. The box is 4" x 2 1/8" x 3" tall. Inside. It is divided for two decks of cards. Also included is a contemporary double deck of bridge size playing cards. Made in China, with the plastic case still incased in the original factor shrink wrap. The pair of panelled doors encloses four linen slides. Above two short and two long drawers, and it stands on elegant ogee splayed feet. The locks and handles appear to be original. Mint condition miniature Persian painting on paper, with hand-painted backing border, enclosed in a marquetry Persian Khatam frame with glass. Hand-painted and finely detailed image is of three horsemen with swords chasing down game. Cypress trees and rolling hills rise behind them with the edge of a blue river flowing in the foreground. Hand-painted panel border deep cobalt blue with rust red, white flourishes, and bright red and golden yellow flowers. Frame is very finely wrought. Hand-inlaid with bone and wood, minutely detailed all over with colors of gold, black, creamy white and red. B acking and stand is of thick masonite. FABULOUS Louis XV French Marquetry Rosewood Ladies Petite Desk w/ Bronze Mounts
A rare Kidney shaped Louis XV French ladies desk with elevated writing surface. Wonderful rosewood and marquetry top. Fabulous inlay of quill pens, paper scroll, and ink sanders. This is truly a spectacular find! We have never had a finer or daintier desk to offer. It does have some normal wear, tear, and damage. I believe it to be around 1870. The drawer bottom and sides are hand planed and hand dove tailed. The measurements of this little gem are 27.5' wide 17' deep and 30.25' tall. We are selling it as we found it in the attic of a coastal Maine home. More pictures upon request for serious inquiries. We have looked for a signature but have not found one, but i believe this was definitely made by an important cabinet maker.

19th C. Antique Dutch Rare Porcelain Marquetry Inlaid Tilt-top Table Provenance
Here we have an unique cica 1860s Antique side table from the Netherlands. I am a fairly knowledgeable collector that owns a diverse collection of American and European pieces from the 1710s up to the 1860s. I have never seen or read about any such piece of furniture as this one. The most unique and striking feature is the porcelain mounted ontop of the table. I have some knowledge in antique Chinese and European porcelains: Qing. Sevres and 19th C. painted porcelains. I have never come across one similar to this porcelain. It gives me a Middle Eastern feel, but a porcelain expert told he was not sure either and that"it could be French. The top is profusely and systematically inlaid with Burl Walnut. Ebony, Rose and Mahogany. The ormolu mounts are all present, except the tassels and small gauge chains that were once daggling on the bottom ... moreside edges of the frieze. sides of top) These could be replaced, if desired. The measurements are: Top 15 1/2" square and height of 30" and legs splay out 16 1/2" Condition wise. The standard(shaft) has been touched up by the, due to paint losses. The top has been screwed secure so the top no longer tilts, which is common in older stands. This was due to the broken period hinge. These repairs can easily be reversed. The lock mechanism is period and orginal. The ormulu mounts are original and retain most of its gilding, but tarnished. There is also a missing small mount on one of the knees on the leg. I like to look at the tool marks on the underside of the legs. These are the only visible tool marks. Every other tool mark has been planned away. Which are signs of craftmanship and quality. The straight up-and-down mechanical saw marks on the legs are consistent with saw technology during the third-quarter of the 19th century. IT DOES NOT GET MUCH BETTER.a Victorian gaming table with two drawers.the top drawer has closed and open compartments. The middle front serpentine shaped compartment unfolds to show a sewing pin cushion. As well as two sliding compartments, one on each side. A second drawer holds the chess pieces but this would also be. And appears to have been used as a nice sewing cabinet. Great well done marquetry and clean cut design show work by a superior cabinet maker. Probably a custom request. The chess pawns are all hand carved and have different expressions. Beautiful Biedermeier/ Empire Table. A lovely piece of furniture. It exudes quality it is of the empire style and would date from around 1845. The table top has a marquetry design in the style of Gallee. There is slight lifting to a few pieces of veneer as can be seen in the pictures but they are secure and I am loathed to restore the table in this condition as it(in my opinion) still sound. The overall condition is good there are a couple of small nicks to one of the uprights but its all age related ware so I will let the pictures do the talking. The main wood is Mahogany. The Lion paw feet are made of Brass and the marquetry and banding really draws the eye to the piece. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. OLD, French inlay marquetry table. This wonderful accent table features a combination of mahogany and rosewood. There is a unique inlay design on the table top which features a tulip flower at each of the 4 corners. The table is oblong, not square, with rounded curves that soften the lines. The top is skirted on each side with an inlay design on the 2 longer skirted sections. The delicate cabriole legs feature a carved rose and leaf drapery detail on the upper sections with additional carving on the lower regions. The table is quite nice and is in good condition. There are some signs of age/use on the finish. These do not distract from the table and do add to its"antique character" These can be resolved, if you prefer, with a little stain and a top coat of varnish. As is common with these ... moretables, it is not heavy. It is structurally very good. THE TABLE IS STUNNING! The table measures 24" wide at the top. C.1890 This is an utterly stunning piece of antique Meiji period Japanese furniture– it is a scholars tansu cabinet. Which comes in three pieces. There are two matching tansu cabinets, used for storing paper, ink, and other sundries, and a top that fits over both cabinets. This top can be taken off to slot in place between the cabinets, forming a small desk for use while travelling. It is entirely covered in marquetry work of the most amazing quality and design. There are a large number of exotic woods used in the marquetry– Katsura. Persimmon, and Cedar for example- which is continued on the inside of the cabinets on the drawer fronts; there are also ornate brass ... moremetal work hinges, clasps and handles. Caja Taracea de Siria Medidas del Producto: 16 x 9´5 x 7 ´5 cm Este producto ha sido realizado mediante la técnica artesanal de la Taracea en Siria. Uno de los pocos lugares donde aun perdura dicha técnica. La base está hecha con madera de Nogal, está forrada interiormente en terciopelo y la incrustaciones son de: Nacre- Palo de Rosal- Palo de Olivo- Palo de Limonero- Palo de Pino Tiene un acabado en barniz. Taracea es una técnica artesanal aplicada al revestimiento de pavimentos, paredes, muebles, esculturas y objetos artísticos. En la labor se utilizan piezas cortadas de distintos materiales(piedras, mármol, madera, metales. que se van encajando en un soporte hasta realizar el diseño decorativo. Es un trabajo de incrustación. Entre unas piezas y otras hay un efecto de contraste que ... moredepende del color y la característica del material empleado. En la taracea no se ve el lecho de base entre una pieza y otra incrustada, como ocurre con el mosaico. Se corta el material que va a ir incrustado con la forma del diseño, se coloca sobre la superficie o soporte y se dibuja el contorno. Una vez plasmado el dibujo en el soporte, se vacía ligeramente, dejando un hueco donde se incrustará la taracea; después se alisa y se allana el conjunto para que la superficie quede rasa. Se tiene noticia de trabajo de taracea de la época sumeria en Mesopotamia(3000 años adC) y de la dinastía Ming(1368-1644) en China. Se difundió por Asia Menor(actual Turquía) y más tarde los romanos la adoptaron cuando entraron en contacto con el mundo helenístico. Llamaron a este arte incrustatio o loricatito. Plinio el Viejo hace una extensa descripción de esta técnica en su obra Naturalis historia. Las piezas con que se hacían las incrustaciones, las llama crustae.
