Antique World War 1 Majolica Italian Grand Tour Wall Pocket Vase Numbered
World War I began in 1914& ended in 1918- at one point. This folk art Italian style floral wall pocket was given as a WWI Italian or grand tour gift item to American& British soldiers- Known as Majolica or Faïenceift. It is about 100 years old& is numbered on the back 152/233. I don't know the full background of this item. there is reference to this item when researching World War I and Majolica. It is collectible- but we don't know how many of the 233 original pieces are still in existence. There is a hole in the back& a hairline crack at the bottom center of the yellow petal. There are a couple of chips along the top edge and missing paint on the very bottom of the piece. It appears to be clay and has a bisque back. There is a pre-drilled hole for hanging. Antique Fine Grand Tour Marble Obelisk with Pietra Dura inlay florals on the base and oblong trim along the top sides. The obelisk had contained a thermometer insert within the center which is now gone. I found a number of these pictured with the thermometer but they did not seem to have the trim details seen here. The obelisk is tall. 13-3/4" high, weighing almost 4 pounds. The top is separately carved and created from the base so perhaps they would be used separated in the future with the bottom supporting something else. Offered as is for re-purpose. Normal signs of age with some very small edge nicks but no obvious damage or breaks other than the need for a new insert be it another thermometer or something decorative and creative. For your consideration is this Pair of Two Antique French Souvenir Palais Glass Tazzas Compotes Grand Tour Era Description: This pair of Tazzas appear to be from the Ground Tour Era. When wealthy, young men would travel throughout Europe. These are probably French Souvenirs that were made for those visiting France. Each Tazza says, France" in the middle of their compote. They feature beautiful glass, with blue as the base and yellow as the top. Each piece measures approximately 4" tall, 6 1/2" in diameter at the top, and 3" in diameter at the base. Condition: One of the Tazzas was damaged and was"repaired" with glue connecting the top portion with the blue column. This repair secured the two pieces together. Plaques are signed and dated 1819/20 as shown. Frames measure 13 3/4 inches by 6 1/2 inches; plaques measure 9 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. Wood frames, velvet and giltwood decorative liner. Plaster intaglios in excellent condition with incredible crisp detail and clean condition. Frame backings are loose and should be re-backed. Wear and tear to frames and velvet as shown. Up for consideration is fine pair of Grand Tour Model(s) of Warwick Urn(s) They measure about 9 inches tall 8 1/4 wide by 5 3/4 deep. They are unsigned however one piece has the remnants of an old paper label in the shape and manner of things coming from Italy. There are a few minor issues the base of one urn has a minor chip on one corner as well as right on the base of the rounded urn. The top and bottom are made of the same material but for some reason the top comes across darker probably due to the curvature and the refraction or reflection of light. The faces are finely carved with a spear in the background and meandering grapes and vines.egg and dart gadrooning around the top edge. There are faces of the Greek God related to Drinking. Antique jewelry. Trinket, or coffin box measuring about 2-1/2" square and wide, 2 1/4" tall. Popular souvenirs during the late 19th and early 20th century with the"Grand Tour" travelers, this little treasure features a thick beveled clear glass sides and lid. The lid is reverse painted with the lettering, Vue de Bethleem as well as a depiction of the city. There are areas that are flaking with the silver underlay showing. Frame is made of brass and glass is accented with tiny decorative stamped brass teeth. Sitting on four dainty curved feet, it has a curved latch for lifting the hinged lid. The latch closes securely but the lid sits somewhat askew. Interior bears original, matching rose colored satin that is badly worn and shows cotton batting padding. A very nice collection of modern plaster casts of the friezes after John Henning(1771-1851) Of the reliefs from the Cellia of the Parthenon and the Phygalian Marbles. These are framed& ready to hang. Nice crisp castings and a lot better than some sets I've seen for sale! These are plain plaster. John Henning- John Henning came to London and saw the newly arrived Elgin Marbles that were on display at Burlington House. He began to study them and for 12 years completed a copy of the reliefs from the Cellia of the Parthenon and the Phygalian Marbles in slate to a scale of 1:20. They represent the battle of the Amazons and Centaurs against the Lapithae. Editions were made in plaster and the original slate sculptures are in the British Museum. Shipping worldwide is $75. Grand Tour Medallion pair
A pair of wax medallions in glass roundels Red wax with impressions on both sides! Maria Teressa of Austria is written on the larger 5 inch diameter seal. And Guy Count of Flanders is written on the other dated 1776. Good shape. There are small cracks in the wax- though both are thick and stable. These most likely would be attached to documents. The larger at 5 inches are impressive in scale. Interesting.

An exquisite and very romantic signed 19th century French portrait of a young man in a'Caesar' style pose. Beautifully modelled in relief in terracotta. This work is in its very fine original mahogany frame. This detail in the portrait is beautiful; the young man has a lovely, gentle face and wavy hair, perhaps with a garland around the sides. It is a very fine quality antique- and quite heavy. Measurements: Plaque measures 8 inches in diameter. Frame measures 11.25 inches in diameter with a 2 inch depth.
