The fancy scenic frame is embossed repousse style brass. It features a maiden in a garden with a putti or cherub. This piece measures 5 3/4" high and 4 1/4" across. It is in very good estate condition with the only flaw I find some wear of the corners of the brass cladding(see photo to evaluate) It probably had an easel back at one time. It says: S- Du S. C. DE Montmartre. There is no wear on the reverse painting. The brass colored intricate frame is in great shape. Nothing is missing from it. The mother of pearl base looks like it was split right thru at some point. But you can not tell this from the inside of the shell. Please see pictures. Antique Grand Tour Marble Figure of Enfant Ecrivant after Canova Skillfuly Done
Here we have a rare 19th century Grand Tour souvenir. Being a marble or alabaster figure depicting Anthonio Canova's Enfant Ecrivant. It measures 8 1/2 inches tall and weighs 3 lbs. It is beautifully carved with much detail. As we have tried to show in the close-up photos. The base is an interesting puzzle to us. There seems to be an early repair to the stone base the figure is sitting on. It goes straight across the back of the piece from the left edge( see last photos) The base was mounted, then, on another piece of marble. One would think that if this piece had been dropped there would be some damage to the figure, but the figure is pristine with no chips or missing pieces. To tell the truth, at first we thought the crack was part of the design of the stone pieces of the base. We do not think this flaw detracts from the quality of ... morethis carved figure. A lovely antique Italian gilt metal bracelet; beautifully made. With 3d chain-style links, an integrated box snap fastener and it's set with seven wonderful blue glass micromosaics, hand made to depict various Roman ruins/temples from in and around the Forum. This is typical of the type of jewellery brought back from their Grand Tours by the English gentry during high Victorian times. It dates from around 1870/80 and is in very good, fully wearable condition with wear to the edge gilding, a few tiles missing here& there and one glass mount cracked(everything currently stable) It weighs 30.9 grams and measures 7 inches wearable length, each link being around 1 x ¾ of an inch. Set of 3 OLD framed medallion portraits of classic Greek or Roman figures. The shadowbox glassed frame has some loss of the gilt in places and have some nicks. But are very presentable as they are. These have been carefully mounted on what looks like velvet. I have no idea how old, but the way the frames are constructed suggest turn of last century- and I don't know when the cameos were made. The largest one is about 1.75 inches long and the smallest a little over 3/4" Frame measures 6.5 wide and are about 1.75" deep. Please check the photos for more detail than I can list here. RARE HTF Pink 1800s Antique PALAIS ROYAL GRAND TOUR Perfume Bottle FRENCH FLORAL
Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a lovely Pale Pink Perfume Bottle. I believe it is a Palais Royal/ Grand Tour perfume bottle. Most likely from France. It has a floral ceramic tile on the top of the lid. The center of the bottle has a silver background with hand painted, colorful floral enamel decorations surrounding 3/4 of the bottle. The"back side" is mostly without flowers. The only real damage to report is a slight bend of the lid on one side as you will see in the photos. There is light rubbing to the silver background and the gold detail lines as you would expect for it's age of nearly 150. The lid is a bronze or brass metal. The pink glaze is in excellent condition ~ only a little roughness around the very bottom edge underneath. No chips, cracks or repairs ... morenoted. The stopper is missing, as is often the case with an item this old. This bottle most likely dates to the middle of the 1800's. These perfume bottles were souvenirs collected by travelers as they made their way through Europe on their"Grand Tours" The hinge works perfectly& is intact. The lid does close tightly. Be sure to shop bottles of similar style and age so you know just what a treasure this is! These painted Grand Tour bottles do not come up for sale as often as the clear glass, red& green bottles ~ these painted bottles are much more scarce. ANTIQUE French blue Palais Royale? Opaline glass Victorian dish WIRE Grand Tour!
NOTE: THIS IS A RE-LIST AFTER I HAD A NON-PAYING CUSTOMER This is a wonderful piece I just found. A French blue Opaline Palais Royale(probably) antique Grand Tour dish on a wire mounted stand. This is from the 1870's to 1900 or so, when everyone went to Europe to tour and acquire art and collectibles. The dish measures 6 1/2" in diameter, and stands roughly 3" off the table.
