Early 1800's Henri Marc French Empire Figural gilt ormolu bronze mantel clock
This is an antique early 1800's French Empire mantel clock by Henri Marc of Paris Set in gilt ormolu. It has a figure of a gent retraining his horse with lovely fine detail to the figure. The ormolu is beautiful and retains its rich original gilding. which is set off by 2 white marble panels the reverse of the clock has a couple of splits where the legs are see pictures. But it stands proudly so that is nothing to worry about. It has a porcelain dial with Henri Marcs name and the movement is impressed with Henri Marc and has the Japy Frere stamp as well. Presumably this clock was retailed or partly created by Henri Marc. It has been stripped and serviced and keeps good time. Although this will need adjusting at the new owners house. A Stunning Art Deco Clock. Approximately 750cm long and weighing over 14kg this is a beautiful piece. The bronzed stag is very well modelled and all in all the whole piece is in really nice condition. there are a couple of marks and a few nibbles to the onyx and marble but as can be seen from the pictures they are not of any signigficance. Due to the weight and fragility I will not send the clock via royal mail or any courier so it will either be sent via a trusted shipper or pick up and cash payed on collection. Antique French Alarm Repeater Clock
This clock is a French alarm repeating clock that is very rare because it has a pendulum escapement instead of a balance wheel. There is no maker's name on the movement but it's the type of mechanism attributed to Japy. The clock is silver plate over a tin type metal with a solid brass front plate. most of the silver has worn off. I believe it was made in France in the early 1900's. The clock has been cleaned and the bushings and main springs look to be in good condition but it won't stay running. Every thing appears to be original and it's complete. Has a spot that looks like rust on the top right around the handle. Measures 4 3/8” high(handle adds another 1 3/8” by 3 1/8” All glass panels are beveled. Cleaned on the outside but dirty on the inside. One side panel has a small chip near the top edge from the inside. The front panel is a little jagged along the bottom edge and I’m pretty sure it is plastic. Dial has some dirt and a small hairline going up and down from the center(where the hand are fastened) There is writing under the 12 probably naming the clock. But it is faded and not legible. Very nice and Very Rare.This movement is complete with dial& bezel; The movement is 3 3/8" in diameter and between the plates is 15/16" The dial has a couple of chips on the edge shown in pictures; The bezel is in fine shape the sleeve measures 3 5/8" O.D. And the Over all on bezel is 3 15/16" The spring does not catch on the wind not sure what the problem is I haven't opened it up and it do-sent appear that anyone else has either; There is no sign of stress on any of the gears and the Escapement appears to be in excellent operating condition, It is a really sweet movement.

There is a Sevres porcelain panel inset under the dial. The shape of this gorgeous clock is known as balloon. This fine time piece sits on a marble base with four fine ormolu feet. Nice ruby pallated open escapement, the rubys are perfect The movement comes complete with pendulum. The clock face is intricate and has roman numerals on enamel plaques. With a 10 day key wound movement the clock is in good working order and keeps good time. There is a red label on the outside of the back cover which reads"Watson& Pelton- 53 St. Sulpice Street- Montreal" and having searched the web for this company the only information I can find about them is that they were in business during the late 1800's so I would assume that the clock dates from around this period. Antique French Petite Sonnerie Quarter Repeater Alarm Carriage Brass Glass Clock
Outstanding French 19th Century Petite Sonnerie Carriage Clock with Grande Sonnerie Quarter Repeater. Alarm and with Silvered Escapement in Excellent Fully Working Condition There are way too many fakes of the French carriage clocks out there- here is your chance to own a real and outstanding one. The is clock is a Petite Sonnerie strike. Grande Sonnerie fifteen munute repeater(i.e. repeater functionality is Grande Sonnerie) The regular(non repeat) strike is highly unusual, though. Detailed explanation for the experts is at the bottom. These are some of the most valuable and collectable French carriage clocks. The clock is fully functional- it runs and strikes properly, also repeater works flawlessly, so does the alarm. Dial has a very faint hairline and a virutally invisible(unless the clock is taken apart) right upper corner crack. One ... moreof the glasses has a very, very tiny side chip. Movement is perfect. Minute hand has well done restoration(see closeup picture of the dial) I have not timed the clock to see if it keeps the time accurately, but this is, of course, easily adjustable. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures 7" high(with handle extended up) 4" wide and 3.5" deep. Non-repeat strike description: While running. It strikes Petite Sonnerie, but only on half hour intervals(i.e. it strikes one gong hours on the hour and two gongs twice on the half hour) I have never seen such a strike on a Petite Sonnerie clock(which normally strike on 15 minute intervals when running) and presumed that there was something wrong with the clock's strike. So, I took it apart only to find that the Cannon Pinion lacks the quarter hour lifting pins- they were never there. Thus, this clock's strike seems to be as designed. Rare Antique French 2 Gong Chime Mantel Clock
Up for bid is a very nice rare antique French 2 Gong Chime Clock. The case is finished in dark mahogany and is in great condition. The glass door and bezel have excellent hinge and clasp mechanisms with a push-button door clasp. The front bezel door opens fully for access to the dial for ease of setting. The glass has no cracks or scratches and is solidly set in place. There is an inlaid design in the lower front of the case. The dial is age worn. But clear. There has been a repair in the upper right hand corner as indicated in photo#7. The brass feet were replaced by a previous owner, but this in no way takes away from the beauty of the case. Overall it is a lovely and solid clock. This is an antique FRENCH REPEATED CLOCK. AS I RECEIVED A MAIL FROM SOME EXPERT AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS A FRENCH MERCHANDISE WITH ANSONIA KEY and original pendulum. But I don't know it. It runs couple hours and will be stopped, so I don't know the timing. It is with very very heavy marble case and great porcelain dial. The size of the base is around 5X9 inch and 8-1/4 inch high. I am selling it in as is for some handyman to do some cleaning and oiling or for parts only. This item is a clock only.NO OTHER THINGS INCLUDED. I GOT THE MAIL FROM TOP CLASS OVER THEN 70 YEARS EXPERIENCE CLOCK EXPERT Mr. ohiobestclock'S MAIL. He told me that The movement is a typical French one.Used in many clocks from the 1850 period right up to the mid 1900s. It has the typical count wheel, bell strike used in the earlier period, later they went to a ... morerack strike system. The Broguet adjustment for speed is also typical. If you remove the bell, you will find some numbers stamped on the round plate that indicates the length of the pendulum in pouces. The slate case is also typical of French clocks of the 1880- 1910 period. Do not be misled by the replacement key, keys are the first things lost on an old clock, followed by the pendulum bobs. The original key would have been double ended to make the speed adjustment on the small square over the XII as well as winding the springs. French A.D. Mougin Painted Porcelain Cherub Mantle Clock w/ 2 Urns
Offered for auction is this gorgeous vintage French mantle clock a nd two matching u rns. It is made by A. D. Mougin which is on the c locks works. It is made of cast bro nze with copper overlay. P orcelain columns and inserts that are hand painted. The porcelain is painted maroon w ith pictures showing french scenes. The clock does need some cleaning and work. It has been working up to 40 hours. Sometimes for 1 hour or 2. It dings on the hour and the 1/2 hour. It does co me with a key. The fa ce is p orc elain and has some wear under the 12 and above the 5& 6. There is no glass on the face- do not know if there ever was. The cherubs are loo se(especially the cherub on the right side of clock) and 3 columns are loose. It probably can be tighten from the underside. One urn h as the wire missing that holds in the porcelain piece at the ... morebottom- it is being held with duc t tape. The o ther urn does have the wire but it is loose. The biggest damage is the side leg on the clock that has broken off and a back leg is bent inward a bit. The b ack plate is missing. The clock measures 21" tall. 12" across and 6 1/2" wide. The urns are 15 1/2" tall and the base is 5 1/4" a cross and 4 1/2" wide. Insurance will be added to the shipping cost.
