This type of chair is named after King Dagobert I(603-639 ... moreAD) Dagobert’s tomb, remade in the thirteenth century under Gothic influence, can be seen at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Denis. This specific chair was made during the Renaissance revival period and is heavily sculpted with the classical patterns of this era. The central slat is nicely sculpted with acanthus leaves and mounted with a cartouche flanked by detailed Lion’s Heads, all standing on the curved seat below, with nicely scrolled armrests on each side, supported by a sturdy X-shaped pediment with H-shaped stretcher for stability. The 8 day time and strike movement is stamped with“Japy Freres ... moreMade in France” and strikes a coiled gong on the hour and half hour. Both mainsprings are holding and not broken. This clock features a heavy brass and beveled glass case which are in good condition with no noticeable damage except for a small dent on the center top of the clock. The porcelain dial is unmarked and is in good condition with one minor hairline crack. The clock's escapement functions properly when manually exercised. However, it will not run for more than a few seconds. The escapement works for a considerable time without the pendulum, so I think this is probably a beat adjustment, but this is only a guess. The chime side functions properly when manually turning the hands. This clock comes with a simulated mercury double vial pendulum and an antique key. The pendulum alone sells for about $70. The clock’s dimensions are 10” tall by 6” wide by 4.75" deep. This clock movement was purchased in a clock collector’s estate sale. Please check out all the photos for condition of this clock. We have found no hallmarks and the maker is unknown. It features an open frame crafted from hand-hammered brass and steel, decorated with fish and scrollwork. The face is made of burl walnut. The clock is in working order, but the winding keys are missing and the pendulum is missing. The Morbier system strikes a bell at the top of the clock, on the hour and again two minutes thereafter. Dating it to the first half of the 19th century) and beautiful bronze statue on top. The condition of this clock for its age is good and it is in fully running and striking order. Dial was beautifully done with blue numerals and maker's signature, but, unfortunately, has sustained some damage. The damage was very well repaired, but hairlines remain. Pendulum and bell were removed to take a good picture of the movement, but they are included with the clock. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. Just acquired out of an estate this week. We are able to offer this exceptionally nice, antique ~ H&H OPEN ESCAPEMENT, FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH AN ALARM BELL ~ This little brass clock was found with what we believe to be, the original brass key. It has all of the original beveled glass sections, that are in nice condition. The original porcelain dial is in very good condition as well, with only one very tiny hairline down near the very bottom. I actually had to use a loop to see it, as it is quite hard to detect. It is in running condition, as it has been running the last few days. I would certainly recommend a good cleaning and servicing, as it has been tucked away in the estate for quite some time. We did not attempt to clean or polish the clock, as we left it exactly how it was, when discovered in the estate. It measures 4 1/2 inches ... moretall by 3 1/4 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches deep. A SMALLER THAN USUAL BOW-FRONTED ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE/ALARM CLOCK* Circa 1895. GOOD CONDITION*Shown in the gallery picture alongside a standard size carriage clock for size comparison purposes only. The clock for auction is the smaller of the two on the right. Small size: Height with handle folded down. 4.25 inches(11 cms) Width, 2.5 inches(6.5 cms) Depth, 2.25 inches(5.5 cms) My hobby for the last 30 years has been the restoration of vintage clocks. I have had hours of pleasure working on this pretty bow-fronted alarm clock in my workshop. I finished it earlier this month(February 2013) It is now in perfect working order. But. When I acquired it, it was in pitiful condition. The case was filthy dirty and the dial had been very crudely restored in the past. The movement however was working well. CASE: I completely dismantled the solid ... morebrass case to clean and re-polished it. I have not lacquered it; instead I have given it a coat of special wax polish to delay the tarnishing process(this will also make it easier to give the case a light clean in future) It now has a lustrous antique patina. It sits on 4 pretty turned-brass feet and has an attractive bow front. The top and base are of cast brass and the rear door opens and closes with precision- both signs of good quality. All case parts are stamped with the matching number(273) Showing it to be entirely original. MOVEMENT: The solid brass and steel movement is well made and in good condition. I did not take it apart but I checked all parts for wear before cleaning and oiling it and the original jewelled cylinder escapement. All the finishing screwheads have been blued. Both the clock and the alarm(the small silver bell is in the base) Are working perfectly. The clock keeps good time. DIAL: The white enamel-on-copper dial was in a poor state when I acquired the clock but as it is original to the clock. I wanted to retain it. So I minimised some cracks at the very top and restored the badly damaged white enamel in the corners and around the numb

Handsome c1900 French eagle mounted gentleman's desk Clock and aneroid barometer pair. The perfect gift for a gentleman friend or just to add some beauty to a home office. This lovely pair is extremely beautiful. The casting of the eagles is just superb. they look extremely lifelike and the quality of the timepiece and barometer are also exceptional. The Clock shows a lever escapement movement in good working order. With a double-end key to wind the movement and adjust the time. Antique French Porcelain Gilt Metal Mantel Clock Set 3 Piece ala Sevres PINK
This nice quality late 1800s clock set was inspired by rococo designs inset with Sevres plaques. The clock measures 13 ¼” x 8 ½” x 5 ½” overall with each of the garnitures 11” x 4 ½” x 4 ½” and is made of gilt bronze plated cast white metal or spelter with wonderfully fluid Louis XVI inspired designs. You will note wear and verdigris on the finish of the metal. But no losses. There are smears of very old gold paint and some old paint spatters as well. The top openwork c-scroll appears to have been re-attached. Its hand painted and transfer porcelain is a very attractive pink with raised genuine gold accents and none of the work is chipped or cracked. There is some minor expected wear to the gilt and the set is pretty dirty. The works are intact and marked AD MOUGIN with star as shown. The putti are taking birds from the nest at their feet. The open cage sits next to them. The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. Antique French mantel clock movement, silk thread, as is, no reserve
For sale a French silk thread suspension mantel clock movement. Condition is needs a good cleaning and one of the pins on the strike arbor is broken. It is the pin that actuates the hammer striking but all the pins on the strike wheel gear are present. Surprisingly the clock ticks and runs. Also missing is the front bezel though maybe you could use the rear bezel and no glass on the rear bezel. Measurements are as follows: front bezel would fit in a 4 1/4" wide opening and rear bezel would fit in a 4 1/4" frame. From front to back measures 4 1/8" long. Mostly good for parts. No reserve and buyer to pay shipping.

There are chips on some of the side panel glass with prism sides, front ceramic has some damage for face. I do not know anything about repairing clocks-it might be an easy fix, but sold as not working. If you look carefully at the pictures you can see the pictures in front the brass is polished. Glass clean-had the day off work and playing with my trinkets. the later pictures were taken first where unpolished/dirty. glass on front needs to be resent in grove-not taking apart again. The quality of makers is evident when you start to clean and take apart.

The glass is clear on top and in good shape. The sign is clean as well. The unit measures 11 3/16" high with the base measuring 2 7/8" diamater. It is heavy for its size weighing roughly 1.5 lbs. My favorite find of the morning. A nice little alarm clock, brass with nickel coating, I believe the mark is for Duverdrey& Bloquel according to the internet, I just wound it up and away it went, the alarm bell rings as well. Nickel has rubbed as you can see. But a very nice little clock.

Each marketed with their name on the back of the movement cover. These clocks have tiny brass“weights” chains. Some a re clock bodies are walnut colored with red roof. Green leaves, red berries. Some have a solid walnut colored case. The Bulldog at the top varies in colors of either brown, white, or black. The original animations for the bulldog clock is a teeter totter at the bottom with paper kittens that swings back and forth, or a bone that swings back and forth. THIS UNIQUE NOVELTY CLOCK CAME TO US WITHOUT KITTENS OR DOG BONE. SO I SEARCHED HIGH& LOW TO FIN D A REPLICA DOG BONE THAT MIMICS THE ORIGINAL. THE CASE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT IS BEAUTIFULLY COLORED& DOES NOT HAVE ANY CHIPS. CRACKS, OR DAMAGES. THIS ESTATE SALE CLOCK DOES APPEAR TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL LUX COLORING. BUT I CAN'T CERTIFY THE ORIGINAL ITY. ANTIQUE FRENCH JAPY FRERES MANTLE CLOCK IN HAND PAINTED. SIGNED PORCELAIN CASE WITH ORMOLU AND RAISED GILT This auction features a late 19th century French Japy Freres mantle clock in a hand-painted. Signed porcelain case. This clock is a gorgeous old piece. 16" tall, 7-3/4" wide across the front and 4-1/2" deep. It has not been cleaned up and has s oil. But no damage. The clock's front is hand painted with a c herub riding a swan and signed. Carle. The swan motif is repeated in t he finial on top with two entwined swans. The case is a very pale pink shading to white at the portrait with green and raised gilt detailing on the sides. All framed in ormolu and resting on four feet. The clock face is gilt metal with some rubbing of the Roman numeral letters near the key holes. The works are marked Japy& Freres et Cie. Med. ... moreD'Honneur(I believe) and numbered 7432 and 6. It is also marked Made in France. I do have the pendulum, which is stamped 7714 and the original key. Which is stamped 8. I am not knowledge able about clocks and make no representations as to the condition of the works other than to relay the information provided to me by the owner that the clock is not presently running. As to the works. The clock is sold as-is, not having been examined by a professional. As noted. The case is soiled from display over many years, but I see no repairs, cracks or chips except a very small bit of paint rub on the outside edges of the paw feet in front. The"Morbier" design 8 day movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled. It keeps excellent time with a bell strike on the hour and half. There are touchups to the porcelain dial. See photos. A cast brass rooster surmounts the dial, the door has old wavy glass. Exquisite fine detailing in the wormy solid fruitwood case is charming, there are wooden pegs, square nails and hand planing marks. Antique 1800's Spelter Brass Bronze Japy Freres Marti Era French Figural Clock

This is a French clock that has come from the same estate of a collector that we have been selling for the last 6 weeks or so. Check our other listings for more items from this same estate and keep watching as we will list more items from this estate in the coming weeks. This clock is fairly complete from what I can tell however I am no expert so have provided many pictures so you experts can see exactly what you're getting. This French clock is made from several different types of metal. The back is tin. The fancy Roccoco base is brass or bronze as well as the figure with the part that the figure ... morerests on being spelter. The entire clock has been painted with gold paint, not original but done long ago. The brass or bronze sculpture depicts a cherub with a horn in it's left hand. This hand has been broken off and then glued back on, see pictures. His right hand used to be holding something as well but as usual it is missing. This piece has a porcelain dial that does have a couple of hairlines as shown. Besides the previously mentioned defects, the flaws are as follows: The tin back has a bow in it, there is a hand missing, the clock does not run, and the inset panels in the front of the base used to be marble or alabaster but have long ago been replaced by tin. All in all this is a great quality clock that would be well worthy of restoration. It is rather large measuring 15 7/8" wide X 5" X 16" tall. The real beauty of this antique clock is the large Plaque face with the typical hand painted scene of two figures. Romeo& Juliet like motif. The case is solid brass with a reticulated, draped widows walk. It has duel finials, Corinthian columns and at the base is classic chased copper plaque with horse and chariot scene, similar to the Parthenon in Rome. The case standing on four sculpted feet. This is an 8-day. Key wind, time and strike mantel clock dating c1885+. It chimes on the hour and half. This is a large clock standing roughly 13" tall by 8" wide. It’s too bad the porcelain dial has a tight fine line, but it seems solid. Otherwise the case is in very fine condition. The brass is clean, polished and has a lacquer finish.
